Great video! This really give you a good sense of what Lomo Metropolis looks like in different situations. I personally really like the kind of high contrast bleached look and I really want to try Metropolis for my work

I liked the foggy shots and the forest especially the pinkish highlights against the green almost like a 2strip look.

The shot at 7:14 is the absolute one for me. Truly cinematic!

This is what I need to get my hands on this film for my style of photography! I love the desaturated colors and maybe shooting more city scape to fit the 'Metropolis' vibe! Great video and Sarah looks bad asss!!! great looking portraits my friend! Love to see more of course! This film is how I edit my digital images and now that there is a film available for analog photographers... I love it! Great job Hashem!

Thanks Lang! Even though I didn't love my keeper rate on this roll, it's still a cool film with great potential! I'll have to think of something special for the second one (I'll message you on IG)

I like how you added the digital shots for comparison. Film somehow makes a common scene more interesting.

The purple glow seems to appear when you over expose it. I did some research, used it @400 iso and I just love the results

That's what I thought too... and nice, that's great!

I really like how it renders green foliage in your shots. I haven't scanned my processed roll of metropolis yet. I found I was super selective on what I shot and it took me a few months to finish the roll also.

Nice! hope you get some great results, it's definitely a fun film to shoot.

The shots in the forest were insane, especially the portraits and the ones with the fog! I think the color cast and grain add a lot to it in this scene, but I see why you are not too keen on it in general. Also I can anticipate the struggles of having a black/dark cat as a model 😸

Yeah it definitely works to the film's favour with certain shots... and haha yes he is quite hard to photograph! 😸

I have been on the fence about trying this film, but after watching this video think I will get a couple of rolls. Thanks

Nice video Hashem! Nice to have an honest opinion. Haven’t been able to try it yet, but now I definitely wanna try it on some portraits and see how it renders the colors, keep them coming!

My roll looked grainy to me too but my highlights didn’t go that colour from what I remember🤔

I kind of like it ,have shot a roll on 2 on 120, I think its more of an outdoor film and needs quite a bit of light , for its best performance ... good honest review , nice a laid back vlog ... liked it ..

The fog shots resemble Fuji instax film

I agree! I actually shot instax in the same setting and it does look similar.

Thanks for the review... seems this film is a bit more unpredictable than purple... at least purple's color shift is easier to read than perhaps this (unless someone does extensive testing to map metro's color shifts).. overall, metro gives this selective color and in some photos, an almost photochrom-ish look... seems this feel is more suited for (night) urban scenes or portraits rather than nature, though... and I'm saying this is regards to being able to take advantage of the color shifts... temperature wise, I personally lean towards warmer tones for photos and I have seen metro get this with certain urban scenes and night scenes with artificial light... in daylight, this film is too cool for my taste, though...

It's not for me. I think you've summed up this film perfectly well in the beginning when you've called the sky "unusual". I think that describes this film perfectly. BTW, I don't care how late you're in the game reviewing a film, I always appreciate your point of view so cool video man!

Lomo 800 its my choice from color lomography.
    Keep on

  • @artistjoh

Yes, it is all about artistic vision. Metropolis is very likeable for me while Purple and Turquoise are simply not my style. I would prefer Metropolis to be closer to black and white with just a little hint of color. I would also prefer much finer grain, but coarse grain is the Lomography thing. However, I hope Metropolis to be around for a long time because I consider it by default color film.

Nice try, Hashem. New film stocks are exciting and fun but they need to deliver as well. At USD $12.90 per single 35mm roll, I'll pass. Portra 160 and 400 (and the Fujifilm equivalents) make a lot more sense to me. And surprisingly less expensive. Thanks for the video.

Thanks Richard. Yeah you make some good points! I suppose it's good to have these experimental options out there too 😁

this stock is thought to be shot in a metropolis , not for portraits or for gardens... If you try in the street of the city, it makes a great sense. thx for the video

I would argue that it's all subjective (the best examples I've seen other people use the film for was portraits) and that you can use it for whatever you like! Thanks for watching

They literally told you what the film was meant for with the name…Metropolis (city). You did the opposite and shot it indoors, and said you wished you could have done portraits with it, No! Next time go to a city and do architectural/ cityscape shots with it.

That's some ugly film. People look sick. Holy crap, discontinue that stock.
