    The fact they added in the sax in their overall sound is one reason I find them so unique and why I like them so much.

      @@hallievanoutryve3109 She was also not a Godmother, she was Punk. Would you call Jonny Rotten Granddaddy of Punk or Godfather when he was Punk. I was 15 when Punk started in 1976, I was 16 when it reached Continental Europe and X Ray Spex where Teenagers when they had there Big Impact in the late 70es. Teenagers like me: No Mothers, nor Godmothers just Punks, real Punks. Superb Punks.

    Brilliant. I hope Poly's lasting legacy, side from the obvious regarding friends and family, is that any girl who first hear her and this band realize that having heartfelt lyrics and a kick arse sound can yield results and relying on your sexuality and flaunting it doesn't have to be the only way to get somewhere.

    Met her in the Soho Hare Krishna temple in 1984, didn't know it was her till I was told afterwards. She had a new name by then. Radha, Rana or something like that.

    Loved this band and this song. Incredible when you think Poly Styrene was only about 16 on this video; her lyrics and vocals and the 1000mph guitars and caterwauling sax just blow you away.

    This is my favorite song ever. I was 19 in our student house. We'd crank this up and dance crazy before going out. Absolute blitz! Made it to the opening tune of Women's Hour maybe 10 years ago. Wonderful.

    the sheer energy and raw sexiness of it turned my head, I loved this song the first time I heard it and before it was even half way through, you dont get bands like this these days, granted times have changed music has the world has, but my taste in music has stayed the same, oh boybands, up yours!!!

    I saw Poly and the Spex at the Roundhouse in Camden in 1978. She was fantastic. There was so much spitting by the audience, she slipped on stage.

      Wooowww.. i haven't even seen the new handmaids' series , but i love the 80s movie version of it , love margaret atwood, and i LOVE poly and x ray spex , and to think that the series brought this song up again , and that younger generations might actually get it.. makes me wanna cry with joy.. maybe we can actually get past days of treating women as disposable , property, objects.. just maybe 😓

    Just because the the handful of people you played didn't like it doesn't mean all Americans don't enjoy their music. Everyone's music tastes are not the same. This was an awesome band. I'm from Chicago, IL in the U.S.A and I think they are raw and genius in their sound.
