The purity of this is sublime. I love the raw sax and Poly's voice rocks. A million times better than today's artists with their whiney voices singing over cellphone ringtones. Up Yours ! Cowell
Brilliant. I hope Poly's lasting legacy, side from the obvious regarding friends and family, is that any girl who first hear her and this band realize that having heartfelt lyrics and a kick arse sound can yield results and relying on your sexuality and flaunting it doesn't have to be the only way to get somewhere.
Poly was unique I love to hear her voice the band everything. Play them at least 3times a week .her daughter. Thank you for her puting her life story out ther xx

Loved this band and this song. Incredible when you think Poly Styrene was only about 16 on this video; her lyrics and vocals and the 1000mph guitars and caterwauling sax just blow you away.

This is my favorite song ever. I was 19 in our student house. We'd crank this up and dance crazy before going out. Absolute blitz! Made it to the opening tune of Women's Hour maybe 10 years ago. Wonderful.

Just because the the handful of people you played didn't like it doesn't mean all Americans don't enjoy their music. Everyone's music tastes are not the same. This was an awesome band. I'm from Chicago, IL in the U.S.A and I think they are raw and genius in their sound.
Her line "Some people say little girls should be seen and not heard. I say..." never fails to electrify me, 30+ years on. Rest in peace, Poly.
The fact they added in the sax in their overall sound is one reason I find them so unique and why I like them so much.
Remember the amazing Buzzcocks, they used a sax, too. ;-) Nonetheless outstanding band, outstanding song and album, of course.
And who can forget the Psychedelic Furs ...still rockn
Yessir, and Tupelo Chain Sex had Sugarcane Harris on violin!
The sax is awesome!
Early Roxy Music put out material in this vein as well. Andy Mackay on sax and thrashing tempos.
