She’s one of my favorite beam workers just because she manages to make it look so flowy and pretty. Wish those ring leaps had been taken out, though.
It baffles me that the highest level coaches in the world are garbage at constructing routines according to the code of points compared to most random fans on the Internet
Fr😭😭
Not really, fans can develop potential routines but not realistic. Coaches know how fit the gymnast is to train certain skills and reach a goof enough difficulty. Its the coaches on the floor not the fans on thr internet
@@austinxa2339 there's fan made routine constructions with only skills/combos the gymnast has performed at some point. Sometimes they replace certain combo or skill for an actually easier one. Fans have made routines for Kara that would be actually possible, it's not like they add a biles dismount lmao
@@austinxa2339 Coaches very often go with compositions that make no sense. Additionally, having Kara continue to do the rings when they were so bad and frequently got downgraded was insanely stupid
@@colesmith7509 i agree but she just can't stop doing skills that she is comfortable with tbh her ring leaps aren't that bad when you put them beside gabby or nastia liukin. Fans do make some realistic routines but again its the gymnast who has to perform those connection not the fans. If one skill is off there's no connection especially how the judges have been judging this code, you can take mustafina for example . Kara relies on ring jumps to maximize the d score.
Absolutely agree with this statement. She has a very reminiscing flowing style along with the lines of the gymnasts from the 90’s.
There should be bonus points for fluidity and keeping things moving. Nothing is lamer than the trend for gymnasts, especially in the NCAA, to just stay stationary and flick their hands and arms around for seconds on end.
Kara doing her routine
Tim: Simone
Her style is GORGEOUS
love her ! i hope she tries for another world championship with her new coaches
Kara Eaker 2022 Worlds beam champion
Some of those ring positions I just cringe. They were sometimes VERY generous in crediting those
Another casualty of Al Fong's stubbornness 😢
At least she didn’t pay with her life
She lands with the Shawn Johnson confidence on the beam. No hesitation. Those darn ring leaps. I blame her coaches 100% - and also the judging in the US that set her up to fail.
I'm surprised that she never included any split/straddle jumps from the side of the beam in her routine. Those were fairly valuable in the last quad if I remember correctly. I wonder if she could have added those and taken out some of the ring leaps/jumps to improve her score.
I adore her beam work. So incredibly elegant and flowy and graceful.
Not really a fan of her, but she does move like a swan, so elegant!
This gives me instant rage. I love her so much.
Kara's work is absolutely gorgeous and exquisite, she just was never able to put it all together when it mattered. (I can relate, I was always the same way. Nerves.)
She had interesting routines and definitely beautiful rhythm…. But gosh those rings were just AWFUL, why didn’t her coaches ever change them?
The rings were far from the only problem
I guess they just rushed it. I feel like she needed more time getting comfortable with those rings
She should learn how to do it properly with brazilians.
But she's good!
I think she need more time to feel more comfortable.
@@ojk46 could you elaborate on that please? I’m not great at picking out good vs bad.
I think she just didn’t have the back flexibility. She has short legs and a long torso so if her back has no flexibility it would be hard for her to get her back leg up.
Love Kara. Hate the mostly negative comments thus far.
The gymnastics "community" really is overrun with toxic, hateful know-it-alls.... Many of whom have never once set foot in a gym but have no problem dogging out women who have worked their butts off their entire life at this. It's frustrating to see randoms bashing people accomplishing things they'll never do
@@JennaLeigh I hate toxicity in sports communities too, but I really don't get this "you've never done gym" argument. Like okay??😭 People don't need to be chefs to know if food is salty, they don't need to be pro singers to know if a tune is off-key. Gymnastics is a sport and there are always going to be critics. Besides, many top coaches never did gym either..
@@tofarati2032you actually would need proper culinary education and experience to actually critique and evaluate food beyond "it's gross I don't like it".
Regardless, my point is more that quite often the most toxic and hateful know-it-alls are people accomplishing nothing. Not just gymnastics but anything. Living on social media bashing people who are actually working towards and accomplishing goals inspires massive secondhand embarrassment.
Also, the vast majority of coaches have gymnastics experience; the ones who don't come from sports or sports medicine and have additional coaches and specialists with the proper requisite experience and capability.
@@JennaLeigh agreed👍🏾
I like the way GAGE choreograph the routines for their girls. There's a continuity in the movements of dance and acro. Sarah Finnegan thrived at LSU (best gymnastics alum perhaps) in sure Kara will make her UNI proud.
Growth . Can't stop it
Please make a comeback Kara!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
If only she improved her splits not to mention the rings instead of throwing hard skills she could have lived up to her potential in Elite.
also her full Y turn, it does nothing for her difficulty score and she has a tiny adjustment everytime
I mean she qualfiied top 3 at Worlds 2018 and 2019
Yeah she's not perfect but she is still a joy to watch for that flow.
Love her on Balance Beam.
!!! Beyond Brilliant!!! Uber Fantastic! Thank you very much! Blessings!
Love Kara's consistency in delivering the acrobatic skills! Just a shame her coach couldn't seem to figure out a routine that could minimize deductions and downgrades (curse you 2019 worlds inquiry!!!!).
Side note, these montages have been a nice break from the absolute STRESSBALL I've been during the Winter Olympics figure skating lol
Omg me too lol
yeah figure skating so makes me miss following gymnastics. And I see people wanting Russia totally banned for this, but that would make me so sad for Melnikova and the other Russian gymnasts I really want to believe are clean athletes.
@@nondescriptbeing5944 It's so frustrating and sad, especially after Gelya had an amazing Olympics and Worlds
@@nondescriptbeing5944 what's happening in figure skating?
@@albertitomoon5002 15-year-old Kamila Valieva (highly expected to win gold) was caught doping. All of the top women train with the same coach and burn out by age 18, and now who knows if all these children are being drugged. The coach seems very abusive
Perfect example of COACHES failing an athlete. Her rings were terrible and she failed to get credit for the vast majority of them from the start of her senior career. They should’ve been training new skills for her, not doubling down on the rings when they weren’t improving.
Brilliant
Jezus, she is extraordinary.
if only her routine had a better composition. love her tho!
Kara reminds me of Courtney McCool on beam.
Am Teellin` yee-- She`s PHENOMENAL!!
The aerial with 2 layout step out is very nice. Look mom, no hands.
She was
the routine composition is the proplem for me
She would have deserved a chance in tokyo. The US women's gymnastics selection has always been a people decision, not a performance decision. Even after the Karoly era, little changed.
Could a comparison be done to Shawn Johnson?
1:26 she always holds the leg as if she will connect another skill, but she just walks. Is that intentional ?
Go look at her 2018 routine, she was trying to do switch ring + BHS + switch 1/2 + Korbut
This is y I love gymnastics. Crazy
Nice. What r they doing in the Olympics nowadays in Beijing? Winter Olympics..maybe bobsledding. Hehe. Hee.2022
I’m following figure skating and it’s just a hugely scandalous rollercoaster
Kara plz come back for Paris 2024 and pick up your Beam gold
YALL ARE SO MEAN
Only weakness is those rings 🙈
I'm always kinda confused when girls wear practice leos (sleeveless leos) at a competition xD
It’s from podium training so it’s still a practice
@@sporteverywhere oohhh thanks for clearing that up, my bad. I get waaay too distracted by the leotards when I watch gymnastics xD
Gotta say love how she could pull off this stuff 50% of the time... Kudos to her for that! But, her head almost hits the beam on her layout step outs and her ring positions were terrible and she choked every time it really counted.... Still love her though
I don't think it's fair to say that she choked every time it counted. She hit in 2018 and 2019 worlds TF, 2019 PanAms EF, 2019 worlds EF (with a couple of bobbles, but she stayed on), and both days of the US Olympic trials. 2018 worlds EF and 2019 PanAms AA are really the two notable times that she didn't hit "when it really counted" but that's far from "every time".
👍🥰💕🙏
Her ring jumps and leaps are so bad... That's a shame, because she has such a lovely routine. It is so good in rythm, and it is so well connected.... The aerial cartweel + layout step out + layout step out sequence is the bes I've ever seen
the only thing i can coment is about her rings (posture, the foot "crowning" her head) are questionable. But the rest is FLAWLESS
Her splits are a problem too, unfortunately.
@@golden_leader9227 I know! Everybodys talking about rings but she hardly hits 180 in her splits and she don't come across as that inflexible. Anothe (bad) training issue I guess.
It's Li Qi but okay....
First
Sigh, another Yang Bo, Dominque Dawes, Vanessa Atler, to break my heart...
Any guys (or girls) here who cringe during the Korbut flip?
With those ring positions? No, she couldn't
actually she qualified 2nd in 2018 worlds and was 4th place in 2019 worlds beam worlds final. She scored better than any of the gold-winning Russian team at Tokyo. Bye
She could have taken the rings out. It's not like they had to be there.
Not with her lack of consistency - the mark of a good beam worker is consistency, poor routine construction is another issue.
Name one gymnast that has been a consistent beam worker this quad.
@Gymnastics Fun Falls are not the sole parameter in measuring consistency.
@Gymnastics Fun Failure to receive credit for certain skills; failure to receive credit for certain connections; receiving for certain skills but acquiring deductions that outweigh their start values; failing to stick dismounts (which was the bane of even the greatest such as Yang Bo) and several other things. Falls are just one aspect of consistency.
@Gymnastics Fun You're not actually making a point. Consistency is not determined by one problem, consistency means performing as cleanly as possible as regularly as possible. If someone constantly gets more deductions than their DV can balance then they are inconsistent--even if they stay on the beam.
There are inconsistent floor workers but that's not because they fall all the time, it's because they do not perform their skills with sufficient enough execution the majority of the time. So again, falling is not the sole parameter of consistency, it is one aspect.
You're talking out your crack
she’s a gorgeous beam worker but that p white and yellow suit was really bad
Didn’t care for her side aerial.
I never got the hype
Her or Leanne Wong McCallum had no business being on the team imo
She could not.
She has short legs and terrible flexibility
