Pressure of anchor position? What pressure? Girls got no nerves at all! She's as solid as a rock. What a first 2 weeks. Freshman of the week, first 10, now Auburn AA record in her first attempt. Sunisa is on top of the world right now! 🌹💖🇺🇲🥰😆
To be honest, when you have competed under Simone Biles so many times, the nerves have to disappear or you’ll never come close. So its not surprising that she is doing so great. But wow, especially with the crowd after not having that environment in the past two years
This girl won the most coveted gymnastics medal in the world after the out-of-the-blue shock of losing her teammate, who happened to be the most formidable gymnast in the world. Nothing could be thrown at her in the NCAA that could possibly compare. LOVE her. And hope she has enough fun in the next three years to decide to go for the 2024 Olympics.
I think it’s more accurate to say she feels an immense amount of pressure and nerves with all the expectation on her but she’s still able to find joy and perform the way she wants in spite of all that. One thing we should learn from Simone is to not to place these young women on pedestals by saying things like they have no nerves and feel no pressure. I love Suni and am thrilled she’s thriving and enjoying NCAA.
@@FlyingPancake0390 You are right but I was just pointing out that this pressure of standing out at what's expected of her couldn't be any more so than she's already been through. Olympics, losing a coveted teammate, Covid restrictions/complications, father's injury, DWTS, now facing college gymnastics and earning her college degree all within about a 4 or 5 years span. God speed young lady (ladies as she's certainly not alone that's for sure).
I say this with much respect to the gymnast as I'm a big fan of the sport but I gotta say the best part for me is watching the teammates in the background mimicking the routines and cheering from the sidelines. It brings me such joy!
Coming out as an Olympic gold medalist and still performing flawless in college, not letting all that fame get to her and the sport she loves. Keep being great Suni
@@truthbetoldineverwasyours8576 why shouldn’t they? Many of the college champions have never even been elite! There’s a reason college is easier, some elite girls never really get into the groove like others.
She looks so happy in college. I love when she throws her arms and back so far when done with a landing, she looks pure joy to have done so well. That college is very lucky to have the all around gold beast!
This is what I love about NCAA: the girls get to do what they love without the astronomical pressure of the elite track and can honor their health. Also their coaches respect them as humans and not just medal winning machines.
Awww I’m tickled happy that SUNI LEE looks sooo HAPPY while doing what she LOVES!!! She totally deserved this & I am super PROUD OF HER!! God bless you Suni 🙏🏼🤗❤️
This cracks me up. I’m an LSU Tiger and I’m freaking out over Auburn too!! They’re awesome and they stick their landings so well! I like to think rivalries don’t mean as much in gymnastics. Most of these girls have trained together or competed with one another pre-college so I see these meets as more of a showcase of talent more than a competition. That’s why I like NCAA gymnastics, it’s more team oriented than elite.
They are used to performing at an elite level so getting an 10 in college is fun and easy. They are Olympican and train with the greatest in gymnastic Simone Biles 7x Olympic medalists, so seeing them have more fun an not so serious is a good change
I've only ever really watched gymnastics at the Olympics on youtube, so it's weird for me to see Suni doing such simple routines...especially on bars, really stuck out to me. But still fun to watch :)
So happy for Suni! And all the recent Olympians and elites who are now in college gymnastics. I keep expecting her to throw all her huge elite skills, then have to remind myself that this is NCAA lol. She makes it look so effortless and easy (and it definitely is actually neither!) Go Suni, Grace, Jade, Jordan, Leanne, Emma, Brooklyn and any other recent Olympians that I forgot!
@@gavinadkins8914 her coach said she’s training a harder (probs a 1.5) vault but for the first few comps they want her to get used to the college experience
Wow, what an amazing young woman! And she looks so happy and really enjoying what she's doing with out any of the *The Diva* attitude that so many athletes fall prey too! I think the whole Dancing with the Stars helped her artistically as well, she looks like she is just having a great time on the floor exercise!!
College gymnastics looks so much more fun than elite. Elite is incredible to watch but at the college level they look like they’re actually enjoying themselves and not under so much pressure
How BEAUTIFUL does Sunisa look??? 😍 I used to be super skinny and sometimes struggle with accepting the curves I have now. But she just looks so powerful and feminine and just...wow 🙏
Suni rocks! That was the best balance beam routine ever..and Suni was total grace, artistry and fun---that little dance move before her dismount...👏👏👏👏. We know Simone Biles set a humongous bar, but Suni is moving big-time towards that bar, true that!!!
I love to see it! She did so well, precise movements and clean tumbling. Everything amazing from her. But just one question, I thought you have to do at least 3 passes on floor? Or is it okay if she only does 2 because of her skill level?
She gets to only do two because her first pass is an E, and her second pass is a difficult combo pass. In addition to that she does difficult dance elements so she gets enough bonus from all those to not need a 3rd pass
Of course she's breaking collegiate records! She's a gold metal olympian doing the same routines she did at the Olympics! This time, she's having fun!!
OMG @ 0.34 I drop my phone, the skills before this point was amazing, the athleticism, the grace, the balance it was pure art. BUT WHEN THEM TOES HIT THAT POLE IN A SPLIT 😍
Everybody thought she was a fluke at the Olympic, but she is killing in at the college level too. She should have gotten alot farther on DWTS at least the finals. So happy and proud of her from St. Paul, MN.
She is some athlete, she seems to have it all. In the sport of gymnastics have the coaches moved away from pre-pubesant young girls to train for the Olympics
I was at this gym meet and it was so much fun. I hate to say this but Suni's routines have much less difficulty than many of the other gymnasts. She only did 2 tumbling passes on floor when all but 1 of the LSU gymnasts did 3 passes. Suni's beam was very basic compared to the connections I see from other collegiate gymnasts. She's still obviously an amazing athlete, I hope the coaches let her turn the routines up as the season goes on
I don’t think difficulty matters when the cap is a score of 10. Im sure all her routines (except maybe vault im not sure what her max score is) are built in with enough elements to be able to score a 10. Collegiate gymnastics relies more on consistency then difficulty. It doesn’t matter if you can throw amazing skills if you can’t stick it every single time! She looks solid and amazing and I’m happy she’s enjoying her time as a college athlete. Kyla Ross was one of collegiate gymnastics most fiercest and best athletes in her 4 years at UCLA and she never once changed her bars routine : ).
she can afford to do less skills to handstands on bars and tumbling passes on floor because the skills she does already fulfils the requirement for the 10.0 start value… there’s no point for her to upgrade, other than her vault at least
Why do gymnasts' bodies change so much when they skip from elite to college? It's not a critique, don't get me wrong. I'd like to know if it depends on the change of training (I guess they train much less in college), or other factors. I saw this happen many times but I don't understand why.
College is lower level than olympic so she can have a bit more fun with it and im sure it’s more relaxed. colleges care if ur good, olympics u have to be perfect. same with kaitlin ohashi
They make swinging from those bars look easy, but the moments between jumps when you're not touching either one would seem scary to me. I have seen where one of them miss the bar and get hurt from the fall.
You can see the joy on her face the entire time. That’s what she deserves.
