The 660 is built for everyday riding comfort. Why would I need a track focused bike for my daily ride to office especially if I'm squeezing through traffic. The hate for this bike is despicable

660 was made to be in the A2 middleweight category. This boosts sales as many people in the EU/UK do not have a full unrestricted license and would consider bikes like the cbr650r(94hp) or R7(74hp). Bikes need to be under 94hp so they can be restricted to 54hp to comply with the A2. I believe Switzerland is an exception to this rule as they can restrict an R6(112hp).

Y'all forget that the Daytona name has been around MUCH longer than the 675 model, and the 660 is more of a throwback to the older early 90's model Daytona 750 which was a more relaxed commuter sportbike, than it is to the Daytona 675 track focused supersport.

    • @jonathancastelino

Yes but the old one was a failure and the 675 3cyl saved the daytona name

Yeah, I don't understand why so many are hating on the Daytona 660, either.
It's an intermediate bike 🏍. It's not a beginner like the Trident, nor is it a beast like the Daytona 675. It's the in the middle bike. I guess Triumph fanboys must have a screw loose or something. 😅

I don't understand people's problem. It's a 660 Daytona, not a 675 or 900, it's a 660. Is a cbr500 an insult to the cbr 1000, or an R3 an insult to the R1. Fully faired sporty motorcycles are called Daytona at Triumph (speedy RR now excluded). Fairing sport bikes are called CBR at Honda or GSX-R at Suzuki, regardless of displacement and performance. Why should Triumph again bring a clip-on sport bike into the market that is only in stores and no one buys? Cbr650r is one of the top 5 bikes sold in my country, why wouldn't Triumph want to get involved in that market? Very interesting for younger people because of the A2 driving license. It's also just more everyday friendly, and that's what most people want to look like a super sport but not an uncomfortable seating position.

Look I get your point, I own myself a cbr650r. But imho there's a big gap between adding "R" and "RR" next to CBR.
I like motorcycles that sits in between sporty and touring, they're super user friendly when you're cruising in the city and they have enough hp to drive anyone around when you need to.
Having said that, I still believe Triumph could have done a better deal leaving out the Daytona name or at the very least adding a letter or two just to differentiate them..
Seems to me that Triumph is risking to ruin a great legacy tied at that name..

Thats not a fair analogy. Calling this bike a Daytona is like Dodge coming out with a new four door, 4 cylinder, 180HP compact car and calling it a Dodge Viper. This is similar to the hate that Ford received when they released the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

It's because it's competition from Japan is all parallel twins that are putting out 70hp and more road friendly with high electronic tech. This is what the new generation is in high demand for. Yea it saddens me. I'm from the Era of full on screamers and a more aggressive riding style. I own a 1st gen S1000RR and a 1250 Bandit. I don't need all that electronic tech. But it's not Triumphs fault. They know what's gonna sell more. Sure they should have kept the Daytona 675 in the line-up and called the 660 something else I agree with that. But times change. Late 90's early 00's are over. Look we can't even get an R6 anymore!!!

    • @chasebelcher7932
      @chasebelcher7932 7 месяцев назад +2

It's actually to do with numbers sold
95bhp is a key figure, not a coincidence. It's the maximum BHP figure that can LEGALLY be restricted to a2 compatible licence holders. So, = bigger market pool. That's it. Nothing more. Its how many more bikes they can shift.

Riding well be the proof, but this may be a brilliant move for Triumph! The last 675 Daytona was a wonderful expensive bike that didn't sell well. However, a 10k sport bike may sell in the numbers they need. In the past, Triumph has gotten a lot out of modest components with careful tuning and development. If that's the case here, it may be what the market needs. The first Daytona was a 500cc twin that was overshadowed by the 650 twin - but the 500 won the race the bike was named after and it was based on the humble T100

Nostalgia is a dangerous thing, I wanted to remember the 675 to be a better looking bike than it is 😅
Triumph could perhaps in the near future make a 660R, for those that wants more track focused bits?
I'm also guessing the 660 is easier to get certified to Euro5+ compared to the old 675?

i think someone stole the idea from one of my comments ! I said the bike is not bad, it is the name choice that will inevitably link it to the 675. Then I said name it the Trident R or use an old one like TT 660 or anything other than 675 and it would have been impossible to judge it.
