Man, I don’t know. I’m a career filmmaker who loves using RUclips as a search consolidator. I noticed that whenever I searched for the new DJI Osmo action camera, of the 50+ videos that popped up, I could only recognize name (channel). I don’t know what happened to all of the channels that have built up their reputation, and my respect, for years, but they all seem to be dying off or getting away from Gere reviews, and now the market is flooded with brand new people I’ve never seen.
I mean that’s good for them to start off the channel, and I suppose there’s always gonna be generations coming and going. But it was super sudden, surprising, and felt like going from college back to freshman year of high school. nobody could provide in-depth thoughtful analysis, just merely reading off spec sheets.
If you’re going to be one of the hundreds with the RUclips channel circled around your career and interest, make damn sure you’re doing more than everyone else

@@Thats_my_Point I agree with this! I think a lot of people start off RUclipsrs but I want to encourage people who actually have knowledge, experience or a unique perspective to share it - tends to be ,ore useful than a college professor in a lot of ways.

@@servantstudios I’m about to start a stem teaching digital media production at a high school. I’ve been encouraged to take a few steps farther by recording lessons or summarize them in a high-quality RUclips presentation style. Who knows. Seems like a lot of extra work 😅
But we definitely both agree on the fact that people should be sharing real knowledge and perspectives. Not rattling off tech stats. Gerald Undone did a great job of digging in beyond the sales sheet stats. Film Riot has always done a great job of teaching singular ideas or sharing a new creative solution. Potato Jet was always a little borderline for me but he did at least do a good job with comparisons.
I just hope this new generation learns a thing or two from those previous channels that did great, and we don’t have to fight through a crowded ocean absolutely mediocre info presenters
