  • Youngins from New York City Geese are back with their second full length record "3D Country", a wild forray into gospel, blues, and classic rock revivalism that doesn't ever feel cheesy or contrived, aside from some odd vocal dynamics.
Its a strange change of pace from their first record "Projector" released in 2021, a minimal post punk project that relied off of its skeletal instrumentation over grandiosity. The band is now seemingly all about doing the exact opposite on their new songs, but are they just showing off? Listen to the album and tell us your thoughts in the comments.
(sorry about the 10 or so minutes of black void at the end)

One thing I noticed is that the vocals on songs like 3D Country remind me a lot of the vocals on some Ween songs. I think I like it, because I also like Ween a lot

Respectfully disagree with assessment of Cameron’s vocals. Isn’t it nice and refreshing to hear something different?

sure, but you can be different and refreshing without blatant exaggeration. Still, overall great record that grew on me over time. -nate

You’re definition of exaggeration needs definition. He’s not being annoying, he always keeps it wrangled. He rarely if ever goes out of tune. I don’t get this argument the slightest bit, sorry.

It's from pieces like "Undoer" and "Domoto" that I glimpse the compositional and vocal genius that I saw in "Talking Heads"

Great band and fantastic LP, "Mysterious Love" "Domoto" "I See Myself" "Undoer" are the best songs for me. With their second LP, they made a huge leap, the beauty of the melodies is remarkable, and the singer's interpretations and vocal modulations are remarkable.

They performed in Austin recently and they blew me away imho. All instrumentalists were talented and the vocals were fun, hilarious, I just thought the vocals were a good time.

St. Elmo is based off of a 1980s movie by John Hughes lol. Damn I must be younger than you and I got that.
