AVAA! I’m really grateful you’re mentioning hippo campus. they’re one of my favorite bands and the fact that their sound has changed so much over the years yet stayed so consistent in my eyes shows the talent they have

My early video on them was the first video to get more than 5 views and was my first video to get over 1,000 views. I've done a lot of videos about them.

Space Race is like one of my favorite songs of the year. The shit Cameron says and how his voice just goes everywhere, and of course the finding nemo seagull noises, its so catchy on top of how flippin beautiful the guitars are, its a wonderful piece. AVAA, bless you professor for spreading the good word of Geese

Avaa! "They say hard times, baby, never come without reason. If you say it too often, I might come and prove you right" is such an amazing lyric. I'm about to be so impatient about getting new music from this band

AVAA been waiting/hoping for this video all week. I had been dreading the concert a little because I overplayed 3D Country after it released.
This video ended up releasing on the day that I got to see them and I am so glad it did because this video definitely helped me get into the new releases.
You said that his vocals would be easy to mimic because of how distinct they are; and before seeing them live I would have agreed, but after. Oh my god. his voice is so rich and it sounds so much better than it does on the recording. One instance that is replaying in my mind is Domoto’s line “You can’t staay heeere, in my aarrms” it was absolutely incredible live. Just luxuriously rich vocals with so much texture. Awesome video as always :)

You described everything very well. I just wanna add that I love the way they jam. Because every single time I listen to a song of 3D/4D Country I think they are kind of derivative, but then every single time they surprise me with an unexpected chorus/bridge/outro. I'm obsessed with the way they compose songs. They are fun and amazing!
And also, in my opinion it's much more difficult to compose and perform joyful music that is also so good and not on the nose, than nostalgic sad music. It's so easy being joyful and also very bad! It's a subtle equilibrium that has to be kept when trying to be joyful. And there are only few examples of bands that comes to my mind that were outstanding at doing that (Rolling Stones, Hives, early Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, and.. Geese).
For me this is the album and DLC of the year, I can't stop listening to them and I'm so happy :D
I also thought of Strawberry Fields in that moment.
Thanks for your great review! AVAA!

Describing 'art of war' as a jewel box is so perfect to me. And the way you break it down makes me love the song more than i already do, and its already up there for me with 'i see myself'. Love the lyrics so much. Is it an anti war song? Is it a love song? Is it both? Is it something else? Dunno but it definitely slaps!

    Geese the goat, foreAVAA!
PS. I like fantano's description of "I don't have a dad rock" instead of just dad rock to describe the band. It fits their vibe better

I'm still real sad you missed the first album. I really liked it. Lots of influences being worn on their sleeves, but somehow it didn't feel like overtread ground to me, and they were doing a lot of The Strokes-y gestures (pastiche of pastiche repeating). 3D and 4D feel like they're striking out in their own direction while still wearing obvious, but different, influences. If for no other reason, I'd like to see what they do next because I'm curious what hat they'll wear next. CBGB post-punk -> hairy Zeppelin-y classic rock -> ???.
Exciting time to be a fan.
Obviously a Prof Skye interview would kick ass. AVAA.

Professor Skye, what are you thoughts on the latest Mike record? Have been waiting for your video as IMO it is quintessence of all his previous efforts. Absolutely remarkable achievement and is definitely on the same level as WBDTS and VD
Sorry that this is very off-topic, just cannot resist the urge to bug you about this!

Also I saw geese whilst studying abroad in London in a 100 person room at Jack Whites spot. they had just released their first LP. The sound was incredible, I knew they would blow up.
