  • If you are like me, you want to be pretty thorough when it comes to flushing your outboard engine on occasion.
For some engines, extended running on flush muffs is not advisable and if you own a current year model V6 Yamaha, then without taping over fetters inlets on the lower leg then you cannot use flush muffs.
This is where an outboard flush engine comes into its own. Sure you can construct your own flush container or purchase a plastic one but space can be a pain.
Enter Salt Aways Outboard Engine Flush Bags. Available in 4 sizes they collapse down into a flat storage bag and seem pretty robust.
You can get them by following the link:

@@ktmdays the fish port works fine and is designed by Yamaha to flush the whole system despite everyone thinking it’s no good because the thermostat is closed. If you run on muffs you risk melting the plastic impeller housing as not enough heat is taken away from the gearbox. Running on cold tap water prevents the thermostat opening so I use the flush port most times and then if it hasn’t had a run for a while I use the bag.
