I bought and read Mein Kampf myself a few years ago and agree with the notes you made on it. One thing that struck me was that at least in the first few pages (cant remember exactly how far in) he comes across as a passionate man concerned for his country, its future and its citizens, not dissimilar to many modern politicians even today. I found myself thinking that if i did not know who the author of the book was, i might be tempted to support them, which then made me realise how easy it was for him to gain his supporters and followers. Of course it didnt take long for the hatred to show through though ...

Hitler pointed to real problems the people experienced, and told them he would solve them. However, the solutions he gave were not realistic, honest, fair or legal. Same with some politicians today: they offer easy solutions for hard problems, but on closer study those solutions won't solve the problem or are downright illegal.
Modern politicians won't explain their plans at all (Trump, Johnson). NEVER trust a politician who refuses to detail his plans. Remember "Brexit means Brexit"? That was his answer to the question "What will Brexit entail, what will it mean for the people of Britain". He flat out refused to answer. That should have been a red flag.

My great grandfather received an original one in german when he married his first wife back in the 1930s. When he died back in 2018 at the age of 110 my grandfather (68 at the time) pulled it out and read some to me. It was very chilling to think that his own father may have once believed in it at one time.

The only thing I find frightening is when people try to bury history. Here in the United States I've grown up with a wide variety of history books and could research almost anything. I've read about David koresh, Charles Manson, Jim Jones, like they say if you don't learn you will repeat.

And yet our schools do suppress some historical topic, especially when they are unfavorable to those who hold political power, and propagandizes other aspects, again according the the desires of certain political parties.
I almost guarantee you that what was taught in your schools regarding US History from about 1854 through 1898 was grossly oversimplified, and from 1898 through 2020 was politically biased.
The history of the Wilson Administration is a very good place to start doing your research, as at least the alternative and archival materials still exist and can be accessed, embarrassing as they may be to the Progressives.
I've no doubt that government school instruction curricula are similarly blind regarding topics that paint the current regimes in less than flattering light in almost every country.

Desperation for a new ray of hope.
Hitler exploited that desperation and turned it into fear, fear of loss of country to "enemies of the state". That fear turned into anger and finally that anger into violence.
it was that perfect combination of continuous exploitation through unique governing and control that he managed to make so many people do what today we consider bad things.
You'd need to put yourself in their shoes at that age; imagine being a subject of country, irrelavent of class, which was globally humiliated and beaten down. Your mind would start getting some radical ideas.

    Mr. Hicks,
    Greetings from Texas.
Thank you for making this video. I have several personal reasons to loath Hitler and the National Socialist Party. My Grandfathers fought in WW2. (One a FO @ Normandy, the other what we now call a 'Corpsman' on Okinawa. ) I was an USAF officer on 9/11 and put my life at risk to protect others from those who would kill them for a similarly twisted ideology.
I have always belived that, indeed, that is a dangerous book. That is why I studied it. And I would ask everyone to read it as well. Read it knowing what happened because of these ideas. Learn how people can be lured into following a madman bent on killing others for "racial purity" and similar evils. That way you are able to see similar trends in todays world, and point out where these evils can occur again. Finally, there is no better way to show the malice of groups than their own words. Anyone who can think critically will see the dangers they are.
More speech, not less. This is how you see the next problem coming...
Personally, the rationing of health care today worries me. The NHS in the UK. The "Complete Lives System" that has popped up here.
All are too close to the first section of your reading. When a bureaucrat gets to decide that you are too much of a burden on the state to live, it probably too late for your society.
I don't have answers, just observations leading to difficult questions. But I want to learn every bad idea out there so I can try to keep it from bearing its deadly fruit.
And because one of my sons would probably have been murdered under the T4 program.

This story was told to me by a German co-worker who came to the US after the war with her mother and American stepfather. In pre-war Germany the Nazi used to visit every town, city and village. They would knock on the door asking for 'donations'. On the sidewalk in front of the house were usually 3 or 4 SS members, police and party official. They had books in which they recorded the address and name of the occupants, and the amount given. They usually then tried to extract more with subtle hints of violence. Those houses which did not 'contribute' were visited at night with rocks through windows, and other acts of vandalism. The next day they would come back and ask again for a donation from the homeowner. The Nazi terrorized the entire German population.

One thing to keep in mind is that this way of thinking very much predates Hitler. The first important thinker who formulated the basic idea of eugenics as far as I can think of is nobe other than Plato himself. In his Republic the ideal society is maintained through a state sanctioned program of eugenics whereby only a certain group of desired individuals are permitted to reproduce. Also let us not forget that before the second world war, "social darwinism" was very commonplace among Western inteligencia.

I came across a set of photographs Hitler had taken during his rise to power. They are of him hamming it up, making dramatic poses like the film stars of the day. The photos were ordered destroyed, but obviously that didn't happen. Theatre and politics are a dangerous combination. I don't think the subconscious mind can truly differentiate between fiction and reality. It's why we treat Hollywood action stars as real heroes.

He was actually quite soft spoken in normal, every day life, including while he was the Fuhrer. When he was a young lad he resued a girl that hat fallen into the Mill-weir from drowning, but almost lost his own life in the process.
After he was pulled out, he was brain-damaged, but otherwise healthy as a Horse and srong as an Ox.
In 1936 came the Government and took him away fom my Great Grandparents to be looked after.
6 month later they received a letter stating that he had died of Pneumonia - in August during Summer -
According to my Grandfather his brother Franz was NEVER sick.

    Well done making this film.
Nazism was based on selfishness and fear: a group of people not wanting to spend money caring for "others", but wanting to take it all. And also on fear: fear of being mistreated by "others", fear of them taking advantage of you. Those fears were real: there were people taking advantage of the Germans at that time. But it were not the jews. It were the Nazis themselves who lived like kings & gods off the hard work of others.
Today, there are also politicians everywhere who are firing those exact same sentiments. And for the same reason: to draw attention away from those who are really taking advantage of the voters, and to gain power.

@@RealAugustusAutumn I have never seen love cause massacres. Hate and fear lead to massacres and other atrocities.
NS preached fear, and tried to create an US versus THEM mentality. They taught that "the world" was denying the German People their rightful place in history, and that this gave them the right to TAKE it. They taught the Germans to hate the Jews, making them afraid of what the Jews would to to them if given the chance. To call that "patriotism" (love of country) is a lie. Love never takes. Love always gives. Evil selfishness creates division, with people thinking they have the right to exclude people from the group of "patriots", even though they live in the same country.
We see this now with the Republicans in the USA, who dare to say they are the patriots even though the majority of the nation does not agree. They are so deluded they think they can declare some life-long, faithful Republicans "Rhino"'s, Republicans in Name Only. No-one has that right. Republicanism has never been defined by allegiance to a single man. If it now is, it no longer is Republicanism but pure fascism.
All forms of fascism are evil, and all are based in fear, hate and greed, though the greed is usually reserved for its leaders who invariably take advantage of the sheeple following them.

Read as a sort of manifesto, it would surely be dangerous, but as a historic book, it has it's place I think. To ban it would in a way be whitewashing history. To be exposed to the horrors of the past allows people, I think who are of sound mind to develop a better future 🤔

The late author, Hans Helmut Kirst, whose experiences during the War made him become an anti-NAZI, wrote to the effect that while every German had a copy of Mein Kampf, it was a distinct pity that all too many of them never read any of the pages...
It is also a little known fact that the NAZIs got a large portion of the eugenicist ideas from the American and British eugenics movements...
Also, Hitler was known by the 1930s to have gotten to where he would throw a Teppischfresser - carpet eating or chewing - fit in front of his inner circle when they weren't sufficiently malleable to his ideas... he would literally be on his knees, chewing on the carpet on the floor of the meeting room.
This was reported in English by Shirer in his book, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.
