That's true, but sometimes the actors either doesn't do the cues that a person in that situation would do IRL so it's interesting to see a body language expert dissecting an actors performance to see if they managed to get those cues right and at the right moment. It's very interesting to watch. A suggestion for Enigma would be to cross examine good acting with bad acting and compare like ''when actors DONT do the correct body language'' in a scene for example which CAN happen sometimes, im not sure where, as that's his job not mine :P
@@enigmabodylanguage Speaking as someone with experience in broadcast technology, amateur film, and drama, a good actor doesn't act, but submerges themselves in the role of the character entirely. The emotions and scenarios of the characters sometimes have a profound effect on the actor playing them.
2:00 He looks right at John, looks down towards her direction, and nods to him. Saying stand down and WAIT for her to react to all this. and they pause.
Winston is one of the best characters of John Wick. I loved him when talking to Santino. He is a gentleman and he holds back so much. I know he wanted to punch Santino to death.
I think you might have missed the objective when Winston looked to the ground and slightly nodded at John. He wasn't ashamed, he was directing John to the ledge as a means of escape. He is still pro John and trying to keep him alive while trying to dol the Adjudicator.
At 2:45 it feels like Winston is giving a hint of what's to come, pointing with his head towards the edge of the building where he has the most likely chances of survival from the fall, also reassuring him with a positive nod that he hasn't change allegiance.
I LOVE this series. Really brings attention to what makes great acting, conveying emotion, convincing you that a character is real. That’s the crucial component they bring to the table, the director (in their relationship to them) is just responsible for applying cohesion, structure and vision to the wider context of the performance (as their title implies, direction). The director tells the actor what they want and the actor gives it to them. That’s the foundation of their relationship and the actor’s technique, their skill, is irreplaceable and it’s not easy.
- I heard from a few people that they didnt really like that Ajudicator chick, but I actually really liked her style. that theatrical element of class and etiquette is just so fun to me.
Winston probably knew John's armored suit was provided by tailors of his Hotel hence why he shot him on the chest and not on the head(which he could've easily done since he caught John of guard). Winston juet played the situation smart. His loyalty is still with Mr Wick
I've watched all your videos so far and there so fascinating to watch, please keep making more, this content is unique (to me atleast) and genuinely awesome 😊👍
Ian McShane is such a good actor, he's been incredible for all 3 movies! I couldn't believe Winston's betrayal cause it made no sense to me plotwise, after reviewing this scene I understand much better now!
Awesome video as per usual! How about the scene from the Walking Dead s5ep1 "No Sanctuary" where Rick, Bob, Glenn, and Daryl are lined up at the trough about to be killed, and instead of freaking out, Rick threatens their captors?
If I remember correctly there is a part in the film where Wick and Winston are left alone in the vault room of the Continental while the Concierge Charon goes out and fights the high tables soldiers. Wick and Winston could have planned to have the Adjudicator lured to a location and have the events we saw at the end of the film take place. Charon saying well played could be a nod to all of that and that he was privy to the knowledge of said plan. Also Charon is pretty loyal to Winston and he would have knowledge of what Winston and Wick were up to. Add to the fact that Wick is sort of like a son to Winston. But the whole roof top thing is jus my theory.
You can tell by the way Wick unnaturally accelerates through gravity that he is willing to put himself through extra pain just to get on the run a second quicker.
I think this was the best possible way, Winston keeps power and at the same time he’s giving John another chance of retirement 🤷🏿♂️ I mean if the higher table thinks John is dead they gonna leave him alone. And with winston still serving he’ll be able to catch wind of anything the higher table decides in the future concerning John.
Just what I wanted to make sure I also want that John understands that Winston was trying to save him hope he understands in John Wick Part 4 Didn't find this video 3 years ago. I still think though John Wick, Winston and Charon made this plan for John to escape, part of the plan, John when came in the roof he said Parley.
Yoo they straight up took this scene out of Batman Arkham Knight when Jim Gordon Shoots Batman over the ledge. But we all know both of them were just playing Scarecrow Same situation here.
Maybe you could analyse scenes that feature unrealistic/unconvincing body language too? Scenes that most people wouldn't necessarily say are badly acted but where the subtle nuances of their body language aren't as accurate as they seem to the lay person?! Just a thought - keep up the good content though, I'm loving it! :)
At 2:30 when Winston nods, he is nodding towards the right (the ledge that has the slope). Its not that he is ashamed, he knows he has to show an attempt to kill John - but Winston is a highly skilled assassin (that now runs the Continental). He also maneuvers in a way to force John to that ledge, making sure each shot is into the Kevlar vest, knowing that if anyone could survive the fall, it would be John
I need the next movie so bad. I too hope John know Winston wasn't really trying to kill him. After all, John of all people knows that if you are trying to kill someone, you go for the head.
@@enigmabodylanguage thank you my guy, great video. Seeing you add your take with the body language makes me feel cheated for not catching this before 😆
Having you react to red dead redemption 2 would be amazing. Even if it's a game a think you can extract a lot of information from body language an example would be arthur wih sister calderon scene
My initial instincts are nearly always accurate. This all begins soon after the fight inside the building and Winston's man asks Winston "are we in play sir?" Which to me said that they've got a "plan". I believe all 3 of them concocted this plan beforehand (off camera). If you watch John he immediately gets into position to jump over the wall. He pulls his jacket up and jumps for the awning. It's my belief that all 3 men has the fake murder planned out ahead of time. What say you??? Consequences!!!
I mean I took that scene as Winston was putting on a show. And it was his way of give John a out. To your point if he really wanted him dead he would’ve just shot him in the head.
I agree with some but disagree with most. I believe Winston's posturing at the start with his hands in front is a show of power, ownership, control, territory and no fear. Almost like business as usual, here to serve. Stepping forward was his way of saying "you might be high table but you're at my table now". When he puts his hands to the back, this could be to show a change of stance and perhaps a psychological reaction once negotiations were done but really it was to access his pistol nonchalantly. Wick was certainly not in a fighting stance but he was confused as hell. I do believe Winston did everything he could to not kill him as he was wearing full body armor and one to the head could have ended it. The only question is did he tip off the Bowery King somehow.

I'd love to see u do some clips from the taken series.
Plot armor 👍
Do no country for old men, coin toss, scene
Really wanna see Sicario the dinner scene
Notice how when he raised his arm, he did it in order to absorb the bullets. This is a key sign that he doesn’t like to get shot.
Next, Body Language Analyst tries to figure out how John survived a fall from over three stories.
XD
he's john wick, thats how :D
Cause there needed to be a 4th movie
2 words: PLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOT ARMORRRR
Pure adrenaline, will and rage
As we can see John’s body hitting the balcony and then the ground, he’s showing signs of emotional distress.

"He wanted to give John the best chance of survival"
*John falls off the building*

Winston is one of the best characters of John Wick.

He also verbally says “Dont see there is any other way” as he’s firing his last shots
