Am yes you are right especially because he looked like one of those lions that would of left a lot of Cubs everywhere. Makulu had alot of Cubs in the River pride but Dreadlocks was young he might of had as much Cubs or more in many prides with the help of his brothers he was young and genetically huge and strong just from looking at him many lions wouldn’t of had taken a chance. I think once the twins got older along with Makulu he would MR.T would of continue the push for more Cubs and prides.

This is why poachers should be fed to the lions. By killing one these male lions a poacher could set off a chain of events. A weakened coalition is either driven off or killed leading to the deaths of cubs and any females who fight to protect them. So a poacher could cause the deaths of many lions by killing just one lion.

The locals in africa shud never b given permission to shoot lions even if they kill their livestock cows or sheep. Their govt shud provide insurance for livestock. Sheeps and cows can b raised. But wild lions cannot b raised like this . Govt shud ban locals from shooting lions . wat r world wild life preserving society members doing . Come and protect these exotix lions to our next generation.
People should not be allowed to build farms up against game preserves ,then tear down the fences so they can graze thier cattle inside the preserve . Then cry when a lion or leopard gets out and eats said cow ! Government could compensate them for thier loses . Like others do . And lion viewing could generate funds for this compensation ! But these people heads are so far up butts it's crazy! They rather kill a cow and a lion then make a dallar !

No I think when dreadlocks got older in his prime he out grew everyone. Makulu also as he got older got thinner. Pretty Boy was the next biggest after Makulu got older but strength and power was Dreadlocks. Pretty Boy was a bit taller but Dreadlocks was the biggest.

He was a stud. He was second in command to Makhulu and was probably being groomed into taking over as leader, since Makhulu was 5 years older as the rest. Dreadlocks would step in as leader while Makhulu would go out on patrols. I mean they were all tough and good fighters, but Rasta, Dreadlocks and Makhulu were the biggest I believe. I might be wrong about that...Pretty Boy might be in there too. In any event, all 4 were bigger than KT and Mr. T. Losing big lions like Rasta and Dreadlocks, who was second in command, was devastating to their coalition.
I’m on an iPad and it won’t let me edit my post so I’ll just add to it. It’s amazing how quickly such a dominant coalition came to an end. Kinky Tail died in June 2010, Rasta died in July 2010 and Dreadlocks died in December 2010. Like I said above, I think losing Dreadlocks and Rasta was especially devastating to the coalition. At that point all that was left was Mr.T, Pretty Boy and an aging Makhulu. They went from the most dominant coalition to pretty much done for in the span of only 6 months.

@@seanp7871 I had a longer post written but I accidentally clicked off it and it disappeared and I don’t want to rewrite it. Dreadlocks was an ultimate badass. From what I understand, he was never even challenged to a fight. But Makhulu was the alpha and they all followed him. Dreadlocks may have been bigger but not by a whole lot. They were both hyper aggressive. And Dreadlocks definitely stepped in to take over for Makhulu when he went out on patrols, which lasted a long time because their territory was so big. The rangers also gave Makhulu credit for 10 1 vs 1 male lion kills and some rangers say it was even more than 10, but 10 is the number that gets thrown around the most. Way too much gets said about Kinky Tail and Mr. T in my opinion. Makhulu and Dreadlocks were the true badasses of the coalition.

Lions were bringing $ 50, 000 or more in canned hunts , poachers sell body parts for many thousands of $ . Organs are sold on the black market as afrodiasacs , paws and claws ,teeth , skulls , penises, pelts and bodies all sold for different reasons . And the more famous the cat the more they are worth . Imagine what some filthy rich buisness man will pay to say he killed the most feared lion in africa ? And then show it off to his friends ! Now imagine the owners of lodges who have made millions off the wild life of south africa . Who now feel they are going broke because there are only a handful of male lions , half the hyena ,fewer leopards then ever before because THESE 6 LIONS are dominating the landscape . Now rangers and guides have less work ! And poachers , let's look at them . What is the average yearly income of most the native people in africa . How much legitimate work is out there for them ? If you only make a few $1000 a year and a individual animal can bring u several times that amount ,and there is little law enforcement to stop u what do you think these ultra poor folks will do for that kind of money . So now your a lodge owner and you are having trouble making money and some body offers $50 grand to buy a large cat as a trophy. How hard is that to pass up . The damn things are living in your back yard ! So there is a ton of money to be made ! Unfortunately it's by way of killing NOT conservering lions and tigers and other top predators and game animals . A rhino horn is worth $100,000 and now poachers are breaking into zoos to kill a rhino for its horn ! So it was thought that the Mapogos drove off most of the marketable animals in the sabi sands . And it was thought also that many would be better off with out them , both wild life and man ! So there you have it ! Rest in peace Mapogo lions , you were not allowed to exist in this greedy world ! Peace be safe !
if it's Dreadlock Mapogo, it can not be Scar (who is not even mapogo lion) or Snip tail. On top of that Big Mak aka Makhulu was the leader/king of Mapogo's.

3:21 look at those MASSIVE canines. The more videos I see on lions the more I'm convinced that for males especially(but not discluding lionesses) if you set some sort of baseline size and strength as the minimum....the difference comes down to length and width of canines.
The dominant males have giant canines. Maybe that's obvious or common knowledge to everyone else but I never hear any rangers or anyone on any lions video talk about success of lions compared to canine size.
Saber tooth cats have come and gone through several extinction events at least 3 times I believe? Some how they seam to allways reappear somewhere ! So its interesting to me when you speak about this , as we have before . I feel you are right in that some male lions have very large canines . And with a bigger tooth bigger bite force and some other goodies that benifit a preditor ! And by proxy the Mapogos makhulu and his bros are good examples .saber tooth tiger ruled the plains by killing ancient buffalo and when that guys grass died so did the buffy ,and that left the saber tooth to specialized to hunt smaller game . Giving rise to modern lions and taller grasses to hide in . The Mapogos specialize in killing big buffaloes and other really big game ! Could teeth be a much bigger part of this then we have thought before ? My thoughts are it makes good sense that the best armed fighter wins the fight ,gets the girl ,makes the baby ,who inherits daddy's guns ( teeth ) ! And grows up to win fights ,girls etc ! So big teeth are a thing in cats . And always have been ! Peace friend be safe !
@@leonrhodes8700 I’m 100% convinced canine size is a huge determining factor in anything from hunting, intimidating other lions, sexual selection, etc. There are so many advantages that it just seems like common sense right?
Plus as they age those teeth wear down. If they have more tooth length to “spare” so to speak, they should be able to hunt effectively for longer than another lion whose teeth wore down at the exact same rate but were smaller to begin with. Right?? Peace, friend. ✌️
@@MLB_CoercedFreeman5OutOfATL well for what ever I might know about lions, i know much much more about canidids ( wolves and dogs etc ) .wolfs can have teeth 30 % bigger then and dog say a German shepard of the same size . The dog would have a bite force of 300lbs to near 400lbs per sq inch . But the wolf... this guy he can bite at like 1500 lbs per sq in . And this is why when folks think thier big dog is a match for a wolf in a fight and he gets lost in wolf country and never comes back ! Well he lost the fight for obvious reasons . Coyotes the difference is even bigger . Tho the coyotes dont get nearly as big as dogs . So I'm thinking this should hold true to lions also . Now if the bigger bite means a better choke hold , quicker kill ,better display when postering before a fight , perhaps ever a vocal register in his roar ( as teeth and there placement have distinct effects on the way animals perceive sound ) . Example dolphins teeth are offset so as when he opens his mouth to hear . Sound passes thru a gap in his teeth and travels across his jaw to the tooth on the other side where it bounces off and up to his brain . And this helps him focus the sounds of his echo locations . Other animals can tell the size of each other by the sounds generated by the length of thier vocal tract . Longer vocal tract = bigger animal = more and different sound . Now what if a lion with big teeth sounds like he has really big teeth ! I'm sure they can prolly get a good idea about the size and condition of an opposing lion by his roar ! Makhulu's roar sounds like a diesel truck and shakes the ground . So yep I'm with you on this line of thinking . We already know cats teeth are very specialized. Wonder if we know enough? @@hehateme542 I can confirm that Pretty Boy was injured in a fight with the Majingilane..he had a spine injury which healed over time...this was right after KT's death...Mr T and the other 4 went out east to confront the Majingilane...No one saw what happened but there is audio of lions fighting in Elephant Plains that night...the next day T Mak and Dreadlocks were seen heading back west and PB joined them a few days later with a badly injured spine... Rasta was never seen again so it was assumed that he died in that fight..Rangers found bits of fur and blood the next and the Majingilane had fresh wounds on them... hope this gives some perspective..
@@stan0702 ..Interesting. Then it would seem it was 4 Majingilane against 5...Mr T, Rasta, DL, Mac and PB? If so we’re the Majingilame more in their prime? Because I can’t see them driving the Mopogos away.
