What a magnificent lion he was. i find it funny how he disappeared a month after Kinky Tail was killed. No doubt in my mind the Mapogos were taken down by human intervention. This was Mapogo heavy artillery, imagine Dreadlocks and Rasta alone were a problem for any coalition. Two tanks, Two destroyers, A phoenix and a General. No other coalition has a legacy like this one. The General, the Phoenix, The Beast aka Dreadlocks, Leonidas aka Rasta, Shaka and Satan….. you ask me, thats one bad combo.

Dreadlocks poached and Rasta was most likely killed by trophy hunters. Had even 1 of them lived mapogos would've easily reigned till 2015.

Magnificent, beautiful, powerful, remembered. What a tragedy if he was poached or trophy hunted... I usually try to understand those who think different, try to make an effort to see their point of view... but I stopped making this effort for people who find pleasure in killing animals, especially big game, for money or just sports. There is nothing to understand, it is simply stupid, and it is shameful, and it is wrong. And I dont understand why the US does not pass clear legislation to make trophy hunting illegal when it happens outside the US by a US citizen. There are many laws that are enforced for acts that happen outside the US. Why not this? You cannot bribe somebody, but you can kill a lion and bring it back home? Come on, let's be serious about things.

@@rocconof There's a fight between them in I think 2007 where the video claims PB was winning.
PB is noted to be the less dominant than Makhulu even in 2011-2012 ( both behind Mr.T ) when Makhulu was very old, while Rasta was able to defeat Makhulu in 2009, so overall I'd be inclined to think Rasta was more dominant, but it's impossible to say for sure.

@@makhulu5013 I assume you watched Brothers in Blood? The reason why everybody is confused is because that documentary is complete garbage. They didn’t get the names right, along with a number of other errors. Dreadlocks was not the same as Rasta and there never was a lion named Scar. That was just a nickname for Dreadlocks. Look above and see my response to Dheeraj Kumar and you’ll see their actual names and nicknames.

If poachers didn't get him. I'm almost certain. That the mapogos. As an whole squad wouldn't fought and kill off the majingaline and other upcoming lion groups. Makhulu, Mr.T Kinky tail Dreadlocks Pretty boy already give them a good fight. But after RASTA was gone and there splitting up, in 1 group of 2, and one group of 3 To cover as much land that the conquered. Was at the and just to much, and got outnumbered.

I don’t know if he got poached but is seemed to me the strongest lion the leaders disappeared. All lion coalitions take turns when it is their day being leaders, but the lion that defeated Maluku to be with an Othowa lioness the first recorded to challenge his big brother, that probably is in the blood of the Othowa lion today and the mom of the Othowa male lion that died because he took a chance and fought his older brother. Then Dreadlocks I have never heard of any of the Mapogos messing with him. Rasta and Dradlocks were seems to me together most of the times. Seems to me coalitions in big ones at the time hang out with their ranking of the coalitions. After Maluku got older and Rasta fought to take changer it seems Maluku along with pretty were and use to be the number 1 and 2 until their burgers challenge them. I think if Kinky Tail stayed alive and ever went back like Mr.T he could of taken charge but Mr.T was to experienced in his prime returning with his older lions that were beat up. Then Dreadlocks disappeared the back bone and the power that kept them together. Leaving Pretty Boy all beat up back messed up and Maluku with a missing K nine. Mr.T does deserve credit when the odds looked against him I remember seeing the video almost as he knew it was up to him, to keep his brothers alive and helped them. The Matimbas also lost their strongest and older coalitions partner in their half brother then they lost Their own Shaka they say he was poached too. Then Nehna who just disappeared was stranger.

PB was never dominant. The coalition had 2 dominant males, stated by the ranger: Makhulu and then Dreadlocks. They were the two biggest. Rasta spent most of his time with PB, not Dreadlocks, PB was his littermate.
It's likely that Dreadlocks became the first dominant one when Makhulu got even older, and remained as the dominant until his death in december of 2010. Then Mr.T became the most dominant somewhere around 2011 since everybody was very old and he was the youngest.

@@michaelbell3939 He wasn't. That fight takes place in 2010, Dreadlocks was still alive and was the dominant male, though he wasn't hanging out with the other 3 at the time.
Plus, Mr.T didn't won, the guy who took the photos of the fight said it was a draw.
Unless you're referring to the 2011 fight but there's no video or photos of that, only a video of the post fight.
All of the mapogo are legendary. No match to any of the lions especially if they fight together. Even 10 lions vs. 6 mapogo, the mapogo win because of their skill, bravery, brotherhood and determination to kill and fight. They're not afraid of anyone. The lions that they called " the killers" are just lucky to kill kinky tail and Mr.T alone but if the mapogo were complete during the fight the lion that they called "the killers" will die in horrific and brutal way. Actually 3 of the mapogo is enough to finish the 5 lions they called "the killers".

Couldn’t it be said that Mr. T beat him too since he took over the coalition? They never fought, but Makhulu basically just let him come in and take over and didn’t do anything about it. I’m assuming that’s because he knew he couldn’t win a fight against him so he just backed down.

After all my research on this one in a life time lion coalition I truly feel that Rasta was killed by the Majingilane lion coalition in the revenge mission to the east it is said that Pretty Boy and Rasta left their brothers went on their own and days later only Pretty Boy returned back along badly injured. I feel that the Majingilanes waited for the right time to attack them must not for get their age mapogos 9/10 years old Majingilanes 5/6 years and 2 vs 4 they were out number just like kinky Tail and Mr.T was as was Pretty Boy in 2012 when he fought the 4 Selati until Makhulu and Mr.T came to his rescue this is the way it is written in my lions book. I thought that same thing too and even went so far as to correct some people here on Facebook regarding Rasta/Dreadlocks. I did just watch the documentary “Brothers in Blood” and I swear it said they were different lions. I also found other websites saying the same thing. Then I looked into it more and found more proof that Rasta and Dreadlocks were two different lions. There never was a lion called “Scar”.

Does anybody know if Rasta was thought to be “tougher” than Pretty Boy?
I think it’s pretty clear that Makhulu and Dreadlocks were the strongest of the coalition. And in my opinion, based on some of the research I’ve done on my own, despite what that “Brothers in Blood” documentary might lead people to believe, Mr. T was not the super lion that the documentary made him out to be. As far as I know, Kinky Tail and Mr. T were the smallest of the 6 and Mr. T lost fights with Makhulu all the time and he lost a fight against Pretty Boy too. So that just leaves Rasta and Pretty Boy. I know Pretty Boy was a notorious hyena hunter, but what did Rasta really do?
The twins had a fight I believe in 2007, one video shows it and claims that PB was winning, but the commentary by the one who took the pictures says nothing about it, some other less reliable video puts one of the pictures claiming Rasta was dominating.
PB was less dominant than Makhulu even in 2011-12 ( confirmed by rangers and footage ), while Rasta was able to defeat a much younger Makhulu in 2009 after a tough fight and stole his lioness. But at the same time, while Makhulu didn't try to fight Mr.T in 2011, PB fought him and clearly had the upper hand ( though a limping Mr.T won somehow/PB gave up, and Mohawk ended up with the females ), there's also another fight between PB and Mr.T just one year before the 2011 fight, and the guy who took the pictures says no one was dominant in the fight. And another fight that was filmed in 2005 when Mr.T tries to steal a piece of meat from PB and fails, that last one is a bit unfair since PB was almost a year older and Mr.T had almost no mane at all, though again, the other fights are also not fair since Mr.T was 1 year younger and therefore stronger since both were old.
Based on all of that I can only conclude that the dominance was very inconsistent and changed all the time, month by month, week by week or even day by day, they were all around the same strength, except Makhulu and Dreadlocks who were the two dominant males.
Maybe you could say that the Mlowathi twins were a bit less dominant than the two older twins since they were a bit smaller and left to get more mating rights in the other part of the territory, not to mention Mr.T having trouble to dominate his older brothers when he returned, despite being the youngest, which is important when everybody is old.

1. Makhulu
2. Dreadlocks
3/4. Rasta and Pretty Boy basically tied
5. Kinky Tail
6. Mr. T
Rob the Ranger actually responded to one of my posts regarding this. I think I originally asked if Kinky Tail and Mr. T were definitely the smallest of the 6 and he said yes and then we also got onto the subject of a hierarchy and he told me that lion coalitions just don’t have constant hierarchies. It doesn’t work that way. One lion will be most dominate for a while, then another one will be for a while after that and so on.
@@Whoopdido777 I think Mr.T and KT is definitely a tie as well, a ranger said KT was the most dominant while watching his death; another one however claimed that KT was more dominant in the beginning and Mr.T towards the end; a third ranger when asked if the 2 BBoys fought more between them than others lions for mating rights, replied "no" and added that the biggest fights he ever saw for mating rights were between Mr.T and KT where they beat the living daylights out of each other.
I agree with the rest with the exception of the point about the hierarchy never being constant. That's true in certain occasions, but not aways.
Dark Mane was always the dominant Majingilane ( after the death of the 5th ), as well as Hairy Belly who always dominated Ginger in the Southern Matimba coalition.
As for the others non dominants, I agree that it changes constantly, but usually coalitions have constant dominant males, in the case of the Mapogos it was always Makhulu and Dreadlocks, then Mr.T in late 2011 until his death. These changes only happened because of the deaths of Dreadlocks and the fact Makhulu was 3 years older than Mr.T.

See, this is how you can tell that the person who made this video doesn’t know what they are talking about because “Rasta nickname was Dreadloc”. Also, Rasta was NOT named after a Greek person by the name of Leonidas.
