Cheeky Curry South Indian Style

- I researched a place near Tottenham Court Road London for a cheeky curry while on my lunch, the place I chose is South Indian which will make a nice change. A cheeky curry South Indian style. Chettinad in Percy Rd having a chicken curry dish called Melagu Kolli. Darren John said it's Off the Charts. Who doesn't love a cheeky curry. No rice, just chapati today - and what a nice change it was. #cheekycurry #chettinad #tottenhamcourtroad #southindianfood

DJ. If in Tottenham Ct Rd again head to the Indian YMCA. They have a canteen for the residents, open to the public. Totally authentic Indian food and cheaper than chips.

South Indian curries are awesome.
What a delicious looking Ruby DJ, yes I recognise that's Tottenham Court Road. I used to buy my electrical stuff from there back in the day, sadly now not many of them electrical shops left, but a fabulous 👌 vlog yet again
Kingfisher, great beer.
That looked awesome Geez, looked a tad on the spicy side? Nice to have the "off the cuff " approach, nothing like a bit of spontaneity! Take care!
That looked delicious,my favourite is a South Indian garlic chilli chicken curry...glorious!
Had one of them last week, one of my favourites
What a great looking place.....chicken looked great too. Thanks DJ!!
That looked a different curry experience. Glad you enjoyed it

Love South Indian food , the Sri Krishna in Tooting was my regular place back in the day for their masala dosa , think it's been sold off now

Now that looked lovely Darren, excellent content as usual. Just watching this on Saturday evening, waiting for my Indian Takeaway to arrive over here on the Isle of Wight. Love the Harley BTW
I fancy that, less than two hours Warrington to Euston and a ten minute walk, could do it in an afternoon.
great video darren
Great show Darren. Planning a trip to London with ‘Black Beth’ (K1200R). Target destinations: The Ivy and The Cinnamon Club. Mmmmm.
Sounds great
Just a bit of trivia for you - Percy Street was a very popular film & TV location in the 1960's. Various motion pictures & ITC shows used it (Randall & Hopkirk & Department S). Also sometimes used as backround footage when filming from inside moving car scenes.
Thanks for sharing
Curry must be the only food that when you watch on a screen or vlog, that you get sensation side of your tongue, madness... I want a curry now 😋
Darren for some strange reason I find your vlogs quite uplifting always enjoy your honest appraisal of the food & service on offer!

I always give a like to your vlogs DJ, I've no idea why you haven't got a lot more subscribers as this is my favourite you tube channel. The food in this one looked really good, I'm afraid I'd have to have had rice with it and possibly chips as well. Keep 'em coming mate, your channel has got to grow sooner or later. 👌👍
Appreciate it Kevin

Nice chilled relaxed vibe vlog DJ and a beautiful quick curry lunch whilst your at it. Very smart looking Indian restaurant that in the heart of London. Shame about the wet British weather.
That looked fantastic, wow what a great idea for a quick lunch big thumbs up from me 😊
You’re heading in the right direction DJ, keep plugging away mate. Rome weren’t built in a day.. your road trip will benefit your channel so stay positive and keep rolling. Mickey
I don't agree Mickey - my non food videos do not get pushed 🤷♂️
That’s weird mate cos your content and context is good, i came to your channel through Lee and I’ll stick with you mate, look at how long Lee took to get where he is today.. your a good blogger stick with it DJ
I know it well, Darren. Chettinad is lovely. Next time have their masala dhosa - ideal for lunch, a 'go to' dish for South Indian and/or vegetarian. Delicious! There's a whole host of tasty South Indian dishes you won't find in the Bangladeshi/Punjab style of 'North Indian/Tandoori' dishes - use of coconut, different spices, rice flour, lentils etc.
Hi Darren love your vlogs they are so çlassy not like some I have seen.
Wot oh DJ,restaurant looked the part, the food backed it up.A lite lunchtime snack. Just an idea,a freebie. Another channel. "Off the beaten track with Darren John' We all have a go to local,be it chippy, burger bar ,cafe wharever. They need to show what they've got.Maybe take a longer lunch break and move farther out.Stay lucky stay fed and keep us entertained😊😊❤
Looked lovely - amazing what you can find on the path least travelled - but so close to the touristy hubs
Hi 👋 Darren hope you have a lovely weekend 😉 great video 😊 🍛
I always enjoy your vlogs, but I think it's great that you cover these hidden treasures.
That looked really excellent simple and tasty. Great vlog cheeky curry.
That looked delicious Daz , love southern Indian curry’s so much lighter than your standard Indian 👍🏴
🤘🏼👍🏼
At first I thought you were going for the chicken chettinad, a beautiful curry I used to make back in the day….perhaps I should look out all my old recipe sheets now! 😊
Hi, there was another great video like always do enjoy watching your videos. I think you do a great job you help me and my partner in our own channel. Keep up the good work and it’s great to watch just to say sorry I haven’t had chance to comment on some of your videos just been busy with your own channel and with her own business but a great video
Nice one Sparky, hope to see your videos soon
Great video
you often find good places just off thed main streets of London. That looked a good cheeky curry.
Nice lunch great review , 👏👏🤩😘💙🙏🏼
Cracking Vlog as ever DJ. I love the idea of a cheeky curry and a beer.
That looked delish ❤
❤❤❤❤
I've got to stop watching your vlogs before I eat. I've got a cheese roll for my lunch!
That looked so nice. More like a real curry. Tip for you, eat curry with normal fresh white bread, curry is far better with normal bread because the juices and gravy soak into it. Nice video.
There's always time for a cheeky curry👍🏻As always, enjoyable and informative, and deserv
There's always time for a cheeky curry👍🏻As always, enjoyable and informative and a deserved shout out to the smaller establishments ✌🏻❤
I always enjoy your vlogs , as I have said before, seeing your London is special. 😘💚
Brilliant my friend
Cracking vids kudos sir/
Yes, about 80% of the UK's "Indian restaurants" are owned and operated by Bangladeshis, most of whom are originally from the Sylhet area. Genuine southern Indian food is uncommon in Britain. Looked great!
I used to go to an Indian veggie restaurant in the side streets to Euston Station back in the late 90's/early 2000's. Buffet lunch. Very good...and cheap.
Looked really nice
Haven’t been to London for donkeys years, but you make us want to go back, great vlog, information once again class. 👊
The food looked fantastic with some very generous chunks of chicken and chapatis can be a pleasant change from rice. I seem to recall that South Indian food can be a bit similar to Sri Lankan food. Keep up the good work, I look forward to all your videos.
Yes, northern Sri Lanka and and southern India are both primarily Tamil.
You always take the time Darren and bring lots of interesting info, lovely drives and tasty food places to us all. Such a genuine, lovely person. I'll never understand people who come onto the channel yet can't subscribe as obviously they get lots from it watching all the vlogs. It's a strange one. Keep going as the channel will continue to grow and we are all behind you! 🥰🌞🥰Xxx
Thank you June, I guess my channel is not for everyone
@@DarrenJohn I get what you're saying Darren. It's the people who watch vlog after vlog but can't take a second to subscribe. 🤔Xx
Food looks tasty
I love a good curry 🍛 & that looks delicious 😋 Thanks DJ 🤗
Looked amazing 😊 now I want a curry 🍛 x
When I lived in London between in mid eighties to nineties I used to go to a South Indian Restaurant near Kings Cross called “The Ganpath”. Was terrific - but closed and redeveloped even before I left. Their Fried Green Banana dish was exquisite. Still miss that place.
Thanks for sharing
Wow, looked amazing 🤩 that is the curry I would have gone for too 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Gotta love ❤️ spice ❤❤
Looked really good 👍

Sometimes the spontaneous can be great. Looked good DJ.

Wow ... I remember going to a South Indian restaurant in Newcastle in the mid 90's everything you ate with you hands and amazing appam ( rice pancakes ) looks authentic at chettinad but cutlery a concession ??
Cheeky curry for our cheeky chappie with a cheeky smile 😀 😊💕 love it , thank you , 👍🏻 done 😊
👍🏼🙏🏼
Greatly appreciate your vlogs Darren, gives me some more ideas where & what I’ll be eating….From what I saw of the curry & your facial expressions- it was definitely #OffTheCharts & a solid 9.3/10 Cheers, 😎👍🪇👍🇨🇦
I work around the corner from this place and have never been, I will right that wrong next week. Looks great.
👍
Dazzler, you say you're content not getting pushed, you don't think it's because you're going to high end recently I appreciate you showing quality & you like to do it your way. Is that argentine bbq meat grill place still there you passed a few weeks back on that street market pop up vlog I bet that will get the algorithms bouncing. "What do you Fink". PS you still haven't told me if or not you've nicknamed your new harley.
High end has nothing to do with video views - there's something for everyone
@@DarrenJohn fair enough big D. "I'll get my coat" lol.
