I had exactly the same problem. I deduced there had to be a third damper controller somewhere. Your video was the ONLY place I could find anything about where to look, and your fix worked for me too. Thank you.
Same thing was happening to me didn't know what was broke or what to replace. After watching this I opened up ther glove box and the air bag, super easy, the I took the handle side of a long skinny screw driver and put it up to the side of the box and just hit it few times with a hammer, not to hard but just enough. Then put everything back together started the car and boom fixed! Paid nothing to get out working again.. would highly recommend to people to try
@@junkremovaldemolition4less166 yes, I fixed it months ago. If I remember right, it was because of the ac condenser. It all of a sudden got a leak in it and the freon went out. I bought a new one off Amazon for around $80 and had the new freon put in and it has worked great ever since.
Thank you Farshid. I have a 2008 Mariner. When on AC, blows only 8-9 degF below ambient temperature, not "hot". When I call for heat, it gets hot. So, can I assume my problem is not the damper module/actuator that is the subject of this video? I go between hot when call for heat and not so cool when call for AC -- it seems like the damper is working. As far as my real problem, AC compressor clutch does engage, hot gas line off compressor gets hot to the touch, but the suction side does not get cold. I blew dust off the condenser coil (some dust but not plugged), two radiator fans work, obviously blower for HVAC works. Any suggestions?
Thanks for pinpointing the Ford part. But, for the last 678 or so, cars I have fixed in 62 or so brands, the fix is the same: by-pass the heater. Meaning, disconnect both, in and out flow hoses to the heater and connect them using a nipple. Aluminum 1/2 dia X 2" in. long pipe does it fine. (Works below the Tropic parallel) .
Wow...Thats my exact problem.. how did you get that front panel with the airbag off... hoping tapping on mine will get it back going..... Dont want to pull the dash all apart...
Do you have to remove the airbag to get to that piece that is blowing in the heat mode? Or can you get to it from underneath? I am having the same problem with my 2011
I hope you didn't charge the customer for all that extra labour and parts. I had the same problem on my Escape and I knew what the problem was right away. Fixed in less than half an hour.
fabio40 I’m having the same problem. What is that part called so I can order one? Can it be replaced just by removing glove compartment or does the air bag panel have to be opened?? Could you hear the flap, or whatever it is, trying to change? I can hear mine. And the air that does blow only comes out of dash vents. No defrost or floor air.
@@cathyleegrantham-schreifel7269 Does the temperature change okay because what you describe is different? The direction of the air was fine on mine, but it was the temperature that remained hot all the time.
@@cathyleegrantham-schreifel7269 Sounds like you have two separate problems then. If this is the case you likely have to replace both the actuator behind the centre of the dash, which is accessible by removing the glove box and air bag, and the one I think is somewhere under the dash near the steering column. I only had to replace the first one.
Maybe someone can help figuring out my ac or radiator fan problem. Wen I start my Escape 11 3,0l xlt. Sometime both radiator fan work on full throttle ac off and dont stop until ignition off and sometimes they work perfectly until the temperature sensor turn them on. If I pushing the ac button the compressor start, the heater fan work good on all speed but no cool air. I don’t mind a none working ac. My question is that normal for the fan running like crazy.

Was yours blowing out hot air with the ac on also?
@@xepiloguex mine is blowing hot air. Were you able to fix yours?

Any one can put the part picture please?
Is it the part on left of picture or the one on the right ?
What is the name of the part?

If your that far into it. You should’ve replaced the parts
Yeah this left me more confused
Dude YOU ARE SO AWESOME THANK YOU!!!! MUCH LOVE FROM KANSAS CITY. This fixed my AC

I would love to know as well, my ford escape 2011 is doing the same thing. And how much a fix like that runs for. 😔

This looks like a PITA to get to for changing the actuator if needed
air works fine jus no heat or ac. how u fix that?
Thanks it helped a lot
I just replaced my entire ac compressor unit. Not even 2 weeks later, it's blowing nothing but hot air.
$20 fix will do. Read my post.

My problem is driver side heater is blowing cold air
That was tough to watch
