- Cubic inches and ounces are the primary aspects in evaluating backcountry tent stoves. Jacob has categorized stoves between 600 and 800 cubic inches as one person tent stoves. In this video, Jacob examines several one person tent stoves based on a variety of factors including price per cubic inch and cubic inches per ounce, and ranks these stoves. Part 2 of this series will examine 2 person tent stoves.

Two things to also consider (for me anyway) is 1) the ease of setup and ease of use. My buddy has a seek outside and it's a pain to put together - especially in the cold (which is obviously when you'll be using it). Those wingnuts are easy to drop and lose. I have the Nortent titanium stove (not on your list) which is 81.13oz (heavy) and 882 cu inches. It's very quick and easy to setup (they have a video online) and I like the fact that you can get it with glass sides for those shorter trips where you're happy to take the weight or titanium sides for when you want to keep it as light as possible since they just swap out. 2) I also found that some of these really light stoves will warp more than others which then creates gaps and in turn leaks smoke into your tent.
I totally agree that going with too small of a stove doesn't gain you enough in terms of the extra care and feeding the stove will take - in addition to the extra sawing you will have to do to keep the wood at the right length to fit in the box.
Thanks for the feedback. I’ve not heard of Nortent. I’ll have to check that out.
Wow this video has a ton of potential. I think if you move the methodology discussion to the end or to the description will help retain viewers throughout video
You deserve more subs! Subbed
