I actually did add in blocking for the bar on the the wall that I built. I didn’t want to open the other walls to do the same there. Thanks so much! :)
Measure twice, cut once, straight, level and put a nail in it DONE. It's nice to see your wife helping, I would say that this project increased the property value up another $5,000 to $10,000 every one needs closet space.
Thank you for an amazing video! I’m a 62 year old woman who does all her own diy. Getting ready to build a pop out closet for a friend. How many 2x3s did you use? A supply list would be helpful. Doesn’t have to be a full one (nails, screws, etc.), but at least the size/amount of lumber, size of sheet rock (btw, was this 5/8 or 1/2?), etc. Thanks for your incredible videos!!!
Love it what a fantastic job you did. Reminded me of someone I knew who is talented and creative. He can build anyone a home. Sending good vibes to you and your family and your amazing channel.
I love to see this kind of videos. You make it see to easy to do. I would like you to do a video about creating a wall to wall storage wardrobe with tv space, using Ikea or others pre done cabinets. Thanks!
Thanks! Appreciate your clear and easy instructions very helpful! I was wondering why you didn't double the space by adding a double rod for added hanging space.
Great work. It looks really good. One thing I don't get is why you wouldn't put a horizontal stud where you were going to hang your closet bar instead of using a drywall anchor since you studded out the closet yourself. Thanks for the video.
Simon, Its amazing project and liked the outcome. Could you please share details about the dimension of closet and what materials did you use it to make it ready to use. In fast forward it looks nice but if some new learners to know the details may help in saving lot of contractors cost involved for such things. Appreciate your response.
Questions: Before you put up the rod, would it have been possible to add a 2x4 so that you could have nailed the rod into it? If the anwer is no, would you elaborate on the answer or suggest another way to make that rod hold more than 79 pounds?
Hello, can you show how to combine two closets on opposite walls to one bigger closet on one side and one smaller closet on another side? Basically, taking space from a smaller bedroom and adding that closet space to a bigger bedroom.
Why not include a stud to mount the hanger bar. Did a attic joist and lost that just happened to be in the right right location to attach the framing or did you select the size of the closet based upon where you found them
How far from the wall is this? 3 feet including the trim/door area (total) or 3 feet before the wall closes plus the additional few inches from the doorway?
Where we are located, for a closet to officially be classified as a closet, the inside dimensions need to at least be 2ft deep and 4ft wide. So that’s the dimensions I used.
Can you do a built-in desk and shelves with drawers next to a closet in a bedroom, please? Thank you. I am doing the closet but wanted to do maybe a shorter one with drawers on the bottom.
@@SimonSaysDIYvery curious why just not to bye a regular closet? The one you created is small, it takes a day of work. What the sense of it? It would be easier and prettier to bye a modular closet. Here in Europe only door itself like this would cost around 400$
Great Video, As you have to cater for the thickness of your dry wall and the trim, How you calculate the size of the opening that you will need for your Bi- fold doors ?
I’m just curious as to if you’re just building that out and you’ve already got the supporting wall there you’re not taking the wall out at all, why does it matter about loadbearing? You’re not taking out any of the load carrying wood?m
Looks great, only suggestion would be to add blocking if you already knew where rods/shelf hangers were gonna go.

I really enjoyed this video! Great job!
Thanks so much! I’m glad you liked it :)
Wow great job 😂
Thanks! 😊
About how much was the total cost to build?
Thanks good vedio
Incredible work I could build one for my mom so she can store all her extra clothes. Thank You.👷🏿♂️
So glad the video was helpful! Thanks :)
What tool did you use to cut out pieces of trim to make room for the framing? Like what is the name of that type of saw?
It’s called a multi tool. Several different brands make it. It’s very handy for projects like this. 😁
Great video
What gun you used and what nail size ( 16,18)?
Thanks
Great video! Roughly how much did the supplies cost & how did the process take ?
Around $150-200 and I did this on a Saturday and then a few evenings that week. Maybe 16-20 hours.
Can you make three for ours house?
I will pay you, you did you know how to do it
Great Video! What size Bifold door did you use?
How many 2 X 4's will I need to buy ? This is just what we need ! Thank You
Questions: Before you put up the rod, would it have been possible to add a 2x4 so that you could have nailed the rod into it? If the anwer is no, would you elaborate on the answer or suggest another way to make that rod hold more than 79 pounds?
nice job!
Thanks! :)
Can you share the measurements for this closet? The width and depth.
Yes of course! 4 feet wide and 2 feet deep. Thanks :)
Muy bien 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
Thanks! 😁
Hello, can you show how to combine two closets on opposite walls to one bigger closet on one side and one smaller closet on another side? Basically, taking space from a smaller bedroom and adding that closet space to a bigger bedroom.
That is such a great 💡 I trying to figure out how can I make our smaller closets bigger
U can add another rail on the bottom for more clothes.
Did the top beam attach to anything in the ceiling?
How big was your frame opening for the bifold door?
Any links on the items bought?
Did you screw the bottom framing into the floor?
Yes, I didn’t want to mess up the wood floor too much, however it definitely needed to be anchored down.
What is the metal edging part on the drywall corner for?
That protects the sheetrock from crumbling is a chair or toy bumps the corner.
What do you think that would cost installed by a contractor for a bump out closet?
Why not include a stud to mount the hanger bar. Did a attic joist and lost that just happened to be in the right right location to attach the framing or did you select the size of the closet based upon where you found them
How far from the wall is this? 3 feet including the trim/door area (total) or 3 feet before the wall closes plus the additional few inches from the doorway?
Where we are located, for a closet to officially be classified as a closet, the inside dimensions need to at least be 2ft deep and 4ft wide. So that’s the dimensions I used.
Which spackling did you use? Do you mind sharing it?
Can you do a built-in desk and shelves with drawers next to a closet in a bedroom, please? Thank you. I am doing the closet but wanted to do maybe a shorter one with drawers on the bottom.
Not sure if you mentioned it in the vid but what’s the size ?
The inside of the closet ended up being 2ft deep and 4ft wide.
What are the dimensions of the inside of this closet. It look about the size I would need for a bedroom in the small house that I just bought.
It is 2ft deep and 4ft wide. Thanks!
Wondering if you remember how much you spent on materials? Thanks!
I don’t, but I believe the materials were around $150-200.
How much did it cost in materials for a closet this size? I need one in a room that I have in my basement.
Depending on what type of door you buy, probably around $200-300.
@@SimonSaysDIYvery curious why just not to bye a regular closet? The one you created is small, it takes a day of work. What the sense of it? It would be easier and prettier to bye a modular closet. Here in Europe only door itself like this would cost around 400$
I need to do this to make my one room in my house count as a bedroom to increase value
Great Video, As you have to cater for the thickness of your dry wall and the trim, How you calculate the size of the opening that you will need for your Bi- fold doors ?
would have been a good comment to to review expected rough opening for the door. or could have ended up needing to shave down the door.
How did you support the 2x3’s on the ceiling?
Can i build a bedroom closet in my bedroom if i have carpet floor?
What is the size of the closet and the approximate cost for the materials?
How much does a project like this cost?
I’m just curious as to if you’re just building that out and you’ve already got the supporting wall there you’re not taking the wall out at all, why does it matter about loadbearing? You’re not taking out any of the load carrying wood?m
Sir, did you watch a Utube framing video? There is no blocking on your stud wall.
what are the materials you are using, we just built a closet, and tring to finish up
What are the dimensions of this closet?
How long did this take you from start to finish?
10-15 hours. I finished in a week working on it in the evenings after work.
I need to make on in a small room in my house. Never done this before.
Best of luck with yours! :)
What thickness drywall did you use
I believer it was 5/8 Sheetrock. Thanks! 😄
NO CLOSETS IN A HOUSE BUILT IN THE 60'S? IVE NEVER SEEN THAT
What size doors did you use?
Should have installed blocking for the rod
Nice I want to no how to do that
Crazy he is crossing his arms using that miter saw. Lucky he didnt lose a body part.
What is the length and width of the closet?
What is the depth of the closet?
How come you didn’t make it bigger?
I want a closet
Thanks for watching! 😁
How are those doors called?
I believe they are called “bifold doors”.
What are the dimensions of the wood please/closet space
I think he said the framing was 2x3. :)
Can I ask for the measurements?
What are the measurements ?
No dimensions? Depth of closet? Height of shelve and rod?
What size is the closet?????
