They are wonderful ideas BUT! 1.- Almost all of them look difficult to clean if not hiring a professional and maybe with their help it's a 50% probability that it will malfunction or break. (Especially the Cardboard furniture, maybe someone drop a drink) 2.- I wonder if it really convenient, I live close to the sea so all kinds of metals get rusty in 4 to 5 months (even when using a special spray to protect them) I love how practical they seemed but if they will cost me more money then what there are useful... I will not buy them 😅 Edit: another thing are they pet and/or child friendly? 😅 How about how much weight can the furniture support? I have many overweight cousins 😅 How about disability? Example: a blind person will have trouble with the furniture becase they have sharp edges What happens if I need a Orthopedic mattress will it fit?
Additionally, most of these murphy beds need to be built in so they don't fall over when pulling the bed down, so impractical for rental spaces. If you can even find a manufacturer. If you are handy and have some cash you can do some ingenious ikea hacks.
I love the Murphy bed ideas. Hubby and I downsized to a 3 bed home now that we've retired. I love it except that we both have hobbies that take up a whole room each, and our daughter likes to come visit us for a few days every month. As she needs a bed it takes up a lot of room in the small bedrooms. But I can have a murphy bed for her and still be able to have a sewing room when she's not visiting. Just brilliant. And the stairs are a game changer.
I enjoyed all of the furniture. I love the innovation. I loved the collapsible stairs. What a game changer for tiny homes. I live in a tiny house and everything had to work around where the stairs would go. Makes it harder to have certain floor plans.
I was in the critical care unit in the hospital following surgery, and it had one of these hide-a-loos. It was so confusing at first. The nurse said something about the bathroom, and I looked around the room, and there were no doors, save the entrance. I finally asked, and she pointed at the sink, and I was still confused. She had to pull the toilet out and show it to me. I thought it was a great idea.
Love these modular pieces! My daughter lives in a very small, second floor apartment that’s housed in a 100+ yr old brick building. There is no dining table or chairs, couch, bookshelves or any type of built-in drawers. The bathroom is accessed through the bedroom. Have seen the horizontal Murphy beds which convert into a desk/bookshelves. Any of these would be wonderful for her needs!
Me, too, about four years ago. Yes, it's a great idea, but a little awkward at first. I like the old roomettes on the sleeper cars on the train. The back of the loo folded down to reveal a sink. When I finished using the sink, I folded it up and the water drained into the tank of the toilet ready for the next flush.
@Accountdeactivated_1986 it is hooked up to the pipes, but somehow moves in and out of the cabinet without leaking anyway. That's what makes it so awesome.
Great ideas! The problem is that they are usually expensive. If you could afford to buy them, you could probably afford a larger apartment and wouldn't need these.
@@pegatheetoo1437 : I had the exact same thought. There is an absurdity with this furniture: logic would dictate that they are bought by people living in small apartments (i.e. cheap apartments, for people with modest incomes). People who have large financial means generally stay in large apartments. They therefore have no need for this type of furniture which is extremely expensive and which they can afford to buy!
I love most of these things. I have been saying for years that I want a table that can be tucked away into the wall when not in use because I don't know about the rest of you but my family thinks any surface area is s great place to leave anything and everything and it drives me nuts.
So few of these are feasible for renters who cannot tie into studs of walls. Free standing space-saving designs seems like a potential and diverse market.
They are not in use. Most of these are prototypes and not sold. If you click of the links, you'll see that the company doesn't exist anymore or isn't making them.
Exactly. In the 80s and 90s these types of furniture was very popular, at least where I'm from (Eastern Europe) but back then everything was used to be more sturdy and durable. Nowadays, I'm not sure I could trust such furniture, given how nondurably today's things are made.
i liked that idea too. I built a similar design using a large low solid wooden dresser for the front, put 2x4s across the dresser back and screwed then into the wall. Next I placed a shett of plywood across the whole thing and placed my mattress on top. It was not fancy inside , but it did have a ton of storage and i lived in a very tiny space back then. I had a 3 step step ladder to get on the bed. id like this one if i had any money and it was available in the USA
I. Love these they are lovely, luxurious, practical. And idial. If I turn my recent home in 6 small office apartments. Including the toilet and shower area would make it a perfect fit. I wanted to built a loft in each. But that could give that a extra room for each. For a guest. Now what the cost could be, planning it and saw it can be done. I do not believe in debt. So I nead to save money to make such reality. To put my vision in practice. I also need to modernize the outside to fit these. Even become a show case for such would be wonderful in 🇿🇦
TS 1:51 I have been playing with ideas for how to have a move my bed and have a workspace under it. I can adjust the schematics of the space to house a place for my laptop and printer with a chair and pull out tabletop for a desk. This is great. TS 21:09 I am planning to have a sectional in my future tiny house that doubles for sleeping. This is an awesome option. TS 28:07 The side murphy bed would be great in my future loft.
Many of these would be very convenient I don't most would be feasible in a rental unit. I can't imagine moving one of the Murphy bed/sofa combos. I would like a version of these concepts for my very narrow dining room.
The foldout stairs actually scare me. If someone is upstairs they could fall to the first floor if the don’t notice the stairs are folded into the wall (maybe a roommate or family member folded it away) or if they have to crouch down to unfold the stairs and lose balance they could fall. I think the reason the video only shows people unfolding the stairs from the bottom is because of how dangerous this could be for someone at the top.
I've seen many videos like this one through, what sets this channel apart from others is how Troy include the company name of furniture maker. 🎉 great job! Thank you
I’m always gobsmacked at what ppl come up with. I love clever (and space saving)! It is unfortunate that such furniture is tricky to make at a lower price point therefore allowing ppl access at a cheaper price. Students, divorcees, laid off etc. Thx Carrie Gray for pointing that out.
Yeah but generally you need space when you can't afford a bigger space. I don't think anyone who needs it have the budget for a litteral thousand dollar expandable chair or a 5 grands bunk bed sofa .
Try living in London. Or some other cities, where the prices of small apartments are insane. You REALLY think different about this then. A house with an extra room can easily cost you 300.000,- Pounds more! It's insane. Compared to that, even a 5.000,- Pound piece of furniture gets to be affordable.
@@gardenjoy5223 You definetly know everything about my personnal situation and with the very low price of a decent rental in my own european small town of Paris, please be assured that I could never have encountered a comparable situation that would give me reasons to say this. Irony aside : many of these items, including the two I quoted, are used for punctual space problems that can occurs when treating guests and you do not have enough regular arrangements for seating or sleeping. They do not offer a solution to more lengthy space problems like the ones occuring when living in a small appartement for example. I thought all were clever. I think the idea that most impressed me is the movable wall. My kids are looking for a Murphy Bed for one of their extra rooms so I sent them your video.
Love the Murphy beds that either don’t need storage for the cushions or has built in storage it is a hot mess with all those cushions all over room especially when you have to get up in middle of the night tripping over them to use the bathroom

The “Slinky” couch...

Definitely the extendable table and stools!
Expandable table and stools.
Can you please help me Van nuys California???
The folding stairs. This would be invaluable in a tiny house with a loft.
Genius idea!
Widely used all over in China for many years. And it had the cheeks to say someone just invented it and will be used in the future😂???
It's on Amazon
The stairs, no matter how steep, are also preferable to a ladder.
Wow!I liked the kitchen/office/bedroom the best. Now if it had bathroom space too its a house in one.
its unfortunate that space saving furniture is so expensive espically when that makes it inaccesible to poor people who generally need it the most
Additionally, most of these murphy beds need to be built in so they don't fall over when pulling the bed down, so impractical for rental spaces. If you can even find a manufacturer. If you are handy and have some cash you can do some ingenious ikea hacks.
Agreed! Maybe someone can develop a diy set of build it yourself plans.
Alot of this furniture can be dangerous to children.
@@drew8642 these already exist, you can google Murphy bed kits and find them
Agreed. Sadly that also pertains to medicine, surgeries, and even organs!

The folding stairs and folding chairs. They are real works of art.
Wouldn't those stairs need to be the exact height between the top and bottom floors? Are they adjustable?
I admire the thinking that created these pieces.

Sooo agree, rich people do not need these genius designs -the poor do,but would never afford it! 😳😪

My husband was in the ICU. I used the cabinet toilet. I loved it.
I also the foot pedals for the faucet.
I would put them in my house

Where does the pee pee and poo poo go if the toilet isn’t hooked up to pipes? This seems like the last thing you’d want to be modular

When I get my mansion, I will certainly use some of your ideas to maximize the space of the servant quarters.

a lot of them are cool I bet you they have outrageous price tags on them
I was curious to check some of them.
Now I'm crying
Stuff like this must be hugely popular in Japan.
These would be great in a New York apartment, especially the Murphy beds and tables
I'd be REALLY IMPRESSED to see all of this stuff after a couple years of use. Now that would be helpful.

This is extraordinary! These designers are brilliant!!!!!!
the hideable loo would be perfect in an RV with some adaptations, like the roomettes on a train.
Light space savers for a small RV are really needed.
I think most of them would be quite heavy, so I'm not sure how useful for an RV they would be.
Some of these are fantastic! Such creativity!
Many of these designs would be perfect in RVs to save space and not have to use slide-outs that constantly break
These are cool ideas and useful. Feeling doubtful about the toilet if you need it in a hurry. 😊 Regards from Iceland.
The magic of these moments is beyond words.
Some brilliant ideas; my favourite was the high bed with multiple storage underneath. But are any of these items available in the UK?

This is absolutely amazing!!!! 😍
Very interesting furniture ideas. However, some of the beds & sofas seem to have very thin mattresses; can't imagine them being comfortable.
These videos are far more enjoyable after muting the smarmy voice over and the obnoxious music, turns out good ideas really do speak for themselves :P
I really like the expandable sofa.
