The epitome of live British Boogie. I love the way Francis is all clunky thumbs in the guitar solos then nails it gloriously on the last one. Proper live music and the soundtrack of my youth
Easily and by far the best ever Live album released by a rock band. No match. The magic the Frantic Four delivered on stage. Top notch. You will never see a band ilke this again. John's sick groove drumming, the pounding bass of Alan and the best rhythm guitarist ever Mr Rick Parfitt. Thanks guys.
Uhm, Erik I think I love you mate. I love reading comments that I totally agree with, my sentiments exactly. So it's not just me that rates them as the best Rock Band of all time and Rick Parfitt as the best Rhythm Guitarist in history. The best rhythm section of all time is Spud and Nuff, 2nd best is Sly and Robbie, Francis wasn't too bad on Lead Guitar either.
Think I wore my Live at the Apollo LP out with in a year! Yeah, absolutely brilliant live album. Must have seen them 30 times live since 1975. RIP Rick & Alan, much missed.
What a great thrill it was to see the quo for the first time here at the Apollo..1976 but it feels like only yesterday..4 of us travelled up from Cumbria in a battered up old transit..happy days indeed
Status Quo will be studied in hundreds of years time, just as Mozart and Beethoven are now. A major subject in the syllabus will be " Why did Francis Rossi destroy the Greatest Rock Band of all time ? "
Geez I remember the way the balcony used to bounce up and down with all the head banging to these boys at the Apollo. How It stayed up was a bloody miracle!
Status Quo was cool rock blues band probably beyond their time when they recorded this. Their music and guitar riffs were awesome. I still love this today and listened to it when I was a kid.
my very first vinyl record bought 77 when I was 10 years old. Old my friends bought Abba etc. I still own it today. Pretty much worn out. Cool to see the live footage! Thx
Was there on the friday night i think had not long left school was serving apprenticeship in shipyards in greenock as a plumber, had a wee band at time did a few quo tunes of course a lot of water under the bridge since then and that gig. Parrfitt should still be here and thats a fact.
That certainly brings back memories I was in the stalls about 8 back with my denim waistcoat and my red stripy top and my jeans. Status Quo they were brill then and now.
Brilliant.....i agree with quo dog.....this exactly what was missing from the Hello Quo DVD....thanks for your time and effort in putting these together...most enjoyable.
Makes you wonder how Rossi could drive a Band like this off the road into a ditch. The next two years were the lightweight Disco albums, RAOTWorld and IYCSTHeat, then 3 of their best albums in 79,80 and 81, then a couple of good tracks each on 1982 and Back to Back. Spud left, then Nuff left after a very timid LIVE AID performance. QUO were diluted and well, not QUO anymore. It wasn't until 1991 that we heard some quality music from Francis and Rick. Ironically, Rock 'til You Drop was Produced by Francis. Rock 'til You Drop is a true masterpiece. The version of 4500 Times, is very meaty and beefy, the comedy at the beginning of the track makes it sound like it was recorded LIVE. Since the demise of THE FRANTIC FOUR in the early 80's, the Band only known as STATUS QUO have produced a few really good Rock albums. HEAVY TRAFFIC, IN SEARCH of THE 4TH CHORD, QUID PRO QUO and BULA QUO ( ROCK TRACKS ) Covers albums RIFFS & FAMOUS IN THE LAST CENTURY were quality albums, DON'T STOP was not a quality album, except for JOHNNY & MARY. Rossi's selfish cocaine driven indulgence destroyed our QUO. I was very fortunate to see Alan & John play together at a couple of gigs in Sydney in 1988. They played with legendary Australian musicians in Hard Rockin' Pub Bands. Luckily, I saw THE FRANTIC FOUR in June 1978 at The Hordern Pavilion, Sydney. 19 years later, Francis, Rick, Andy, Rhino and Jeff played 2 nights at The Enmore Theatre, Sydney. They were brilliant, fantastic and bloody awesome. It was great to see Francis and Rick again, so it was an extremely emotional experience. I saw them on every tour up until their 'last night of the electrics' in 2017, which sounded like a cabaret show unfortunately. Ever since Matt Letley left the Band, the quality has diminished drastically. The only good aspect of the Band name being in existence is the joy it brings to people that go to the Cabaret shows. Plus, I'm happy for the Band members, even the grumpy guy called Rossi. RIP Reg and Nuff.
Great video, but nit filmed at the Apollo. The Apollo stage was easily 8 feet high, about 4 times higher than the stage in this gig. What the video does do however is recreate the atmosphere, energy and noise of a Quo gig in the 70's - never bettered

This became more prevalent in 1982 and 1983 by which time Alan was only just hanging on. In Alan's long interview he said it would have cost him too much in legal fees to fight for his rights. All through the Band's existence there were songs that Alan had written, yet the Record Company and Francis decided that Alan wouldn't sing. This came to a head on the Back to Back album.
