(matchstick men)....since then have been watching and listening a LOT to them....f ing awesome....this tune blew me away .... hooked up the computer to a stereo with 6 quality speakers and almost went full volume...shook the whole house....hope my neighbors liked it.....
The one and only Quo. Francis is a great lead, but in my opinion he has never had the same power behind than with Rick, Alan and John. Never the same without them three. Although thought Pete kircher done good job on drums. RIP Rick, Alan.
For those who play guitar, bass or drums you know how hard it is to play at this pace! Johns drumming phenomenal . The endurance of his playing among his bandmates was outstanding. people in the crowd must of been on 714s, no reactions.
Kick ass performance by the lads. Ricks singing is so good here, and his crunchy rhythm tone has some balls, Johns really playing those drums, its hard to do that with that kind of intensity for nearly 10 minutes, awesome stuff, the early Quo is the real Quo, huge fan of 1970 to 79 era. Piledriver, Hello, Quo, On the Level, Blue for You and Live! are all solid and killer albums. R.i.p Rick Parfitt
The crowd is actually told to be calm because this show is being taped, less interference. The same thing with DEEP PURPLE CHILD IN TIME crowd say quiet
Rossi, Parfitt, Lancaster, Coghland and Young THE Status Quo! Dreamband!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Is it really them ? C’est mon premier jeu fde mots en anglais, vieux motard ...René.
This shows how perceptions of appreciations have vastly changed, audiences then were morally and socially restricted, that doesn't mean they weren't appreciating thus performance. Now fast forward to 2023....the audience would be on their feet head banging and air guitaring all over the place...great performance.
You now realise how great this music really is. After listening too the dross we've been listening to this week at major festivals . Timeless classic. ✌️✌️✌️
They were _awesome_ for about 10 years, but their new material petered out rapidly after 1980, and it took until their "Franatic Four" reunion to rediscover their mojo. Now Rick is gone and they will never be the same again. :(
Rossi is good but in the 80s he got sloppy for me. I guess coke is a thing tbh. It fucks your mind and like Alan said makes you feel invincible at some stage in ya life. Rossi killed this band off.
@@josephbuckley5961 I think you are wrong here, just my opinion to say. Rossi maybe was sloppy in the 80s (and a master in others), but we still have all the 60s and 70s and up even today (guess you don´t know about that) there... But if you want to stay in the 80 and listen to Alan, feel welcome.
Love the way all of the members here are deep into the music, literally heads down playing beautifully! In tune with each other! Rick’s voice is brilliant!!
For fellow nostalgia TV and Quo heads ……. “Doing Their Thing was a short lived ITV series. It ran between July and September 1970. The format was a group playing a set of their current and older songs for 25 mins. The show featured groups including Marmalade, Mungo Jerry & Status Quo.”
WOW, I've been a Quo fan since the 70's and I can honestly say that this is the first time I have ever heard this Quo tune. OMFG, Couglan was out on his feet at the end of that, amazing live performance.
john coughlan seriously under-rated drummer. The man was a human metronome! Seriously, quo really were a great outfit in the early 70's. You gotta try ignore what they are now and remember them this way
It drives me crazy, the mind-blowing songs and jams and musicianship in the early years before rock audiences became educated and aware of just what they were experiencing. What an incredible jam by the the Frantic Four, plus 1. One of the best jams in rock history. And the boys were 21 years old.
I’m glad to say I saw them twice, once at the Red Lion in Leytonstone in 1971 and again in 1973 at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester. Brilliant both times.
Americans reactors love these guys recently, there videos are all over RUclips, plenty of them of course,I'm 68, now and since they came on the scene as status quo I've loved them, when I'm down life gets thrown in the corner, and on come the quo, when satisfied I'm ready to take on world again.
I first watched this a month ago. I keep coming back to it. It's one of the best live performances I have seen. I can't get it out of my head. All I keep thinking is what would have been the reaction if they had played at Woodstock and closed with this. It would have been legendary.
I was 17 years old and I need the complete Dance Floor. Is it really me, Gotta Go Home. More than 50 years ago. I like them, Rick is already gone. Olli

Status Quo's style was in those days ahead of current time. This is pure Rock'n Roll. Not a hippie band, great Rock band. The Style they perform they gig remains me a lot of The Ramones. Good Rock and Roll band!!!
Oh! How I miss QUO!!! This ism how, as a 79 year old I will apways remember and love them. OK Rossi does go on but there is a longer version. Seek it out.
Do you like Status Quo? I absolutely love them, especially their early performances. If you really want to listen to some rock 'n' roll, Status Quo should be your go-to. They've been delivering top-quality music for years. This video is a recording from 1970 when the band was at the peak of their blues-rock sound. It is a magnificent feeling to watch what these exceptional guys almost pushing 80 have been performed in their youth. Especially John Coghlan, who's now 77 years old, is putting on an incredible show. His drumming seems like a machine with arms working separately from his body. Maintaining that rhythm flawlessly for 10 minutes at this speed must be quite challenging and tiring, but Coghlan manages it. Alan Lancaster, with his baby face, is as wonderful as ever; watching him is such a pleasure. His performance in 'Roadhouse Blues' was incredibly impressive. Unfortunately, he lost his battle with multiple sclerosis at the age of 72 in 2021, leaving a significant void not only in the British music world but in the global music scene. I must mention that the British undeniably had a significant influence in the rock music genre, and I have enormous respect for this rich cultural heritage. In this video, Rick Parfitt looks so young that it's hard to believe he's no longer with us. But the demon of alcohol took him too, and he left us at the age of 68 in 2016. His performance here is nothing short of amazing! In the video, you'll mainly see three long-haired blond heads leaning forward and Coghlan playing the drums like crazy. There are five things that caught my attention in this video: John Coghlan's determination towards the end, where he breaks his drumsticks twice due to his powerful strikes, his intense glares (sometimes they're quite intimidating), Francis Rossi hardly lifting his head except for one moment during the performance, Roy Lynes calmly playing the organ, and the audience sitting like sticks with very little movement in this lively music, except for a few sporadic bursts. That's the profile of people in the '70s, never letting go of their seriousness. The recurring main theme in the background and guitar and organ solos will leave you breathless. It's almost like a time when we feel the sorrow and regret that those days are gone and won't come back. The legendary musicians and music of that era are truly 'amazing' in my opinion!
I have seen them three times here in Sweden. First time was on Gröna Lund in Stockholm. I was lucky enough to find a pole that i could take a steady grip around and that was just a few meter from stage. When they entered the stage Francis Rossi asked "are you alright" yeah, guess three times.
Such a nice well behaved audiance , LOL .First heard Quo doing , going down the dustpipe , The first album I bought was ma kellys greasy spoon . Still got their albums , just listen to them on CD with earphones on , Brilliant . Thanks for posting .
Bassist, songwriter and producer Alan Lancaster - best known for his work with Status Quo and Australian bands The Party Boys and The Bombers - passed away at his Sydney home over the weekend (Sunday, September 26). He was 72 and had been battling multiple sclerosis. The Party Boys’ leader Paul Christie told TMN that as a rock bassist who played with a plectrum, Lancaster was one of the true greats. “He played a Kramer bass with an aluminium neck, not a wooden one. As a result he sounded like an industrial hammer bashing on steel. “He was truly phenomenal. The Party Boys needed two drummers in the line-up, it was the only way to match him.”
