"Rifle butt." If that's what it sounds like, didn't it already happen in I Spit On Your Grave and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo? And I'm not exactly a rape-revenge film aficionado, so it's probably happened in dozens of films I've not heard of.
Maybe when people say that Justin Timburlake is a revaluation they are probably saying that he is a surprisingly good actor, rather than the roles he plays. Shame he keeps popping up in bad movies, especially when he has films like The Social Network under his belt.
Um, where can I find this foul rant? It sounds incredible. Over the summer, he decided to stop doing that stupid TV show after Charlie Brooker made fun of him on You Have Been Watching. What a twat.
Bit late to the party on replying to this one, but I totally agree with you on this. Like Craig Fairbrass, they are really good actors (and both are very intelligent) but have found regular work in certain roles. Fact is that, for actors, this is a job and like all of us they have bills yo pay and families to feed.
Straightheads was a displaced Balkan warcrimes allegory, savaged by crits. It's actually a good Straw Dogs for our time, but pulls a feminist punch in the final anal rape scene .Dyer and Anderson have real chemistry, don't fall for Kermode's Vendetta against Dyer. Really sick of Kermode's virtue signalling , middle class bad taste that he palms off on certain films, His blind spots are Typical of a Trot bore. He had the same problem with the Devil's Rejects . And by the way 300 is an action masterpiece , that expertly captured a clash of cultures Sparta vs Despotic Asiatic hordes , which he found doesn't fit his Politics, actually its the films that K doesn't like that switch on my radar , but really gave up listening to his commercials for Hollywood ages ago . Should be a proper show about world cinema , not the boring twitter cult of personality that it's become. Foreign films barely get a mention . 4/5 K's for Straightheads .
last unctives I haven’t seen Straightheads. I haven’t liked what little of Dyer I’ve seen but I thought the Review was funny back in the day. This may surprise you but I couldn’t agree more. I stopped uploading some time ago and I almost never listen or watch his Uncut videos, only occasionally commenting. Too sycophantic, as you say. Too many emails about marathons and marriage proposals, and you are spot on about the lack of foreign film discussion on the show. They’d rather gush over children’s movies or suck up to celebrities. And I lost a lot of respect for him over that Ghostbusters review. The whole controversy was idiotic but Kermode dismissing everyone who didn’t like it as misogynist was disgraceful. Yeah, he was always guilty of virtue-signaling, but at least he occasionally went to bat for provocative art or horror movies. Nowadays, he only seems to care about the identity politics of a film. His biases are more transparent than ever and the reviews write themselves. Robbie Collin may not be as entertaining but he’s far more open-minded and a far superior critic.
last unctives OTOH Dyer did himself no favors by threatening to punch Kermode in response to this review. Kermode would NOT let that grudge go. The fact that Dyer is now on EastEnders means he can’t dig that joke into the ground anymore.
SkagWinesack Kermode broke the golden rule. You get a free pass for misogyny violence racism, ect if you're working class, in films ,as far as I know Dyer was extra entitled in this particular instance, because as he said , Kermode was taking the bread out of his family's mouth and still is . Kermode's only way out is to make a full apology , and admit that he was the provocateur, and that Dyer is entitled ,to the privilege of a free pass , Kermode being middle class , isn't. It's probably too late for apologies, Kermode's Vendetta has continued for years, it's really time he was kicked out of the BBC , or sued in court. It reveals the ugly side of the middle class in this country were it's legit to victimised the white working class, If Dyer was black ,it would never have happened , Kermode knows he's wrong , but he's got institutional approval and a flag ship position. His malicious vendetta is bound to end badly Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross we're sacked for far less.
It came as no surprise to me that Kermode drank the Three Billboards Kool-Aid. Kermode is a classic case of "It's okay as long as the other side doesn't do it." McDormand's character is a vigilante, a bully, a despicable parent who doesn't even care about her son and wished rape on her daughter, treats Peter Dinklage like a walking punchline, and doesn't show an ounce of compassion when the ONE person who truly cares about solving the case reveals he has cancer. If McDonagh turned Mildred into a man, Kermode would've loathed it. Or if Tarantino or Lars von Trier directed it except they actually have the guts to follow their cynicism through to its logical conclusion. McDonagh's film doesn't even have guts to take a stand on anything. Then again, Kermode liked that piece of shit Crash, too.
"I can't believe the funding or the will to make this film existed"
Put it on the poster!
I love Simon's asides- Mark: "I don't find accidentally abducting a child funny at all." Simon: "Oh, go on."
I have been crying laughing. This is genius.
"DANNY? YEAH?! I GOT A THING, WHAT YOU WANNA DO, YOURE A GEEZER!"
I choked on my drink when he said that, lol.
Mayo's response of "oh go on" to kermode's child abduction comment proves he's no so bad after all. Quite funny.
"gives new meaning to the phrase rifle butt"
hahaha!
Would love to see the clip of him telling Morssey that the film is tosh! And also the actor's response...
"Awite i'm Danny Dyer get in the car get in the car"
review starts 6 minutes in
They don't go on motorbikes in City Slickers.
It's actually Andy Serkis but I can see the resemblance in that angle.
Not unless you count his cameo on Extras. Anyway, I'll take Kermode's Danny Dyer impression over the real thing any day.
I hate it when Kermode makes me want to watch a movie he hates so I can hate it with him.
The tagline for the reaping looks like something Garth Marenghi would write. Who's the guy on stage with Mark @ the end? Looks like Julian Barratt
@CharlieSpeary For someone who despises Kermode, you sure have been listening to a lot of his reviews.
DANNY DOIYAAAA
The compression on their mics in this one.....fuck me.
Yeah, the audio quality on the early podcasts varies. Sorry about that. I knew jackshit about audio editing when I uploaded these reviews.
GIMME THAT FACKING SHOOTAH.
Kermode rants make me cackle
I love how he suggests seeing movies in 3D, it makes me feel like he has had a brain transplant or something!
Kermode praising 3D! Should we remind him of this podcast?
DANNY DI-YARRRRRRR
@darlinchav
I doubt you'll see Mark Kermode whilst you're 'out'; I don't think he's the type that hangs around MacDonald's on Saturday nights ;)
what did Y0uAmuseMe say? he deleted his post

Kermode did like 300 actually. He just saw it for what it is: Good exploitation fun.
God it's strange to hear a good word for 3D from Kermode.
Kermode- apt name for the shitbox,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
@TulseLuper His impression is hilarious... nothing like him but sums up the nonsense and stupid loudness of him lol.
@TulseLuper Thought you were crap in Pimp.
i havent seen any pro dyer posts, lol. maybe 2 years ago but not anymore.. danny's doing less film (if any at all) these days.
what? Mark saying 3D is a good thing?
Maybe when people say that Justin Timburlake is a revaluation they are probably saying that he is a surprisingly good actor, rather than the roles he plays. Shame he keeps popping up in bad movies, especially when he has films like The Social Network under his belt.

@cheevers4ever Kermode isn't an actor...
Why does Mark sound like he's crying?
Because he was sick hahahaah
danny dyer has talent. Many of his enemies vent their snobbery. He has a big mouth though and chooses to make under-par films.
