"Helicopters just want to kill themselves. All the time. Every time you fly them." Best line of the century. LOL!!! I'm a heli guy, but get lots of great help from your videos. I started out with a Walkera V120 about 4 years ago. What a struggle, but it has paid off. Just like you said, too easy can not be the best thing in the long run. Thanks for all the great stuff!
Many MANY years ago a guy with a channel called 'PicoFlyer' was flying around with a Walkera MiniCP, a great little heli for that time, into which he'd mounted a small camera and VTX, and was actually flying FPV with that thing! Despite what you'd expect, there was very little noticeable jello, and it seemed to be a great platform for it... Ever since I've wanted to do something like that, and this little beast might be the right candidate at the right price for me to give it a shot... If I do, I'll post something about it... Great vid as always, cheers!
Lee, I've taken the same route. I failed miserably 8 or 9 years ago with helis trying and succeeding in their suicide quest. I gave up and started building multirotors and then on to fixed wing FPV. It always bothered me that I failed at them and looking at a long winter of hiding from the virus I decided to create a winter goal of learning them once and for all. I started with RealFlight9, dragged out my old Syma S107, bought a Blade 70S for indoors, an XK110, a Blade 120S, a Blade 150S, a Blade 230S V2, and a Flywing FW450 GPS helicopter. Yeah, I know. I'm an addict. LOL! HOWEVER, I can fly them and it's only January! LOL! They are easier now. Try the Blade 150S. Wonderful flier and would be brilliant in your back garden. Stay well!
Would love one, the prices though (especially now) over 200 on a micro RC helicopter. Sadly the much less fun quadcopters are *far* cheaper and much more feature dense. I'll stick to my K110 with a hot glued on tail rotor for the time being.
Good review. It's identical to the Eachine E129, just different graphic art on heli and box. Users should be aware that the charging circuitry is in the charging cable, not the battery, so IT IS NOT SAFE to try to charge the batteries using a generic USB cable. The connector on the battery seems to encourage you to do that, as it's a standard micro USB connector. So DON'T lose the charging cable!
A top notch review. Everything a beginner needs to know without a bunch of fluff and unneeded data. I fly mainly FPV Quads or Drones if you prefer. Plenty of Co-Axials too. I've got a Blade Scout, no tail rotor, a Blade Tandum Rescue ( a double co-axial? )?, and a V911. Its just too cheesy and light weight. I have too many trees at home to fly fixed wing stuff, i do have a a Duet, and a Twin Explorer and a Umex B-17 4 motor 6 channel bomber too. But really stuck flying Quads at home. I figured fixed pitch, altitude hold 8few parts will allow a little change of pace. Ya know, GPS, alt hold, waypoints, orbit, and follow me isn't worth a hoot even with RTH if there's a tree in the way. LOL. The new Beast Pro 3 will obstacle avoidance is out now. Might as well watch a helicopter movie, huh?
I have been watching your videos since 2014. I got my C129 from HK yesterday, it is the one of the best model helis I have flown, thanks for the recommendation. Today I subscribed, sorry it took so long. Looking forward to some better flying weather next week!
I still find it hard to believe that all of that electronic wizardry can be stuffed into such a small package and sold for the price. Can you imagine what this would have cost 20-30 years back? Kids today etc....
got that little one too not long ago and it's indeed very stable and robust. the blades don't care if you crash into some furniture. i have some marks on mine but i'm still on the first set of blades. shortly after that i bought a blade nano s3 and they don't compare at all. the nano is extremely mean even in the "easy" mode with low rate and the blades are so thin, they didn't survive the second battery charge. luckily there's also a second pair of blades in the box. but also the much more expensive blade comes with a plastic head so i'm not surprised that a cheap "toy" like the firefox doesn't have metal in its head
I still remember, late 1970's, this hobby shop worker telling a guy how to test if he'd be able to fly rc helicopter... "Spray water over backyard for ice rink, polish and cover with thin layer of snow. Stand in middle, and balance a basketball on your finger, with a marble on top of it, and a BB on top of the marble. Now walk. If you can keep everything balanced, you can fly an rc helicopter!". The shop owner chimed in with "it's really not *that* hard".
The Radiomaster TX16s can be used to control this helicopter using the E129 protocol. You may have to switch the Throttle / Elevator Inputs in the Inputs screen. The helicopter is VERY sensitive using default 100% outputs with the TX16.
The flight time of helis are always phenomenal by the sheer disk area. I have been FPVing all-direct drive 250-gram single rotor with Betaflight. I think FPV helis will make a comeback with the simplified direct drives.
Your review is hilarious I have 5 700 size helicopters and 15 smaller size they're almost a joy not the fly because they want to destroy themselves I find that hilarious but very true
Supposedly you can adjust the transmitting power with the upper right button which also switches between mode 1 and mode 2. Says it will double the control distance of the helicopter. FYI
I have this model and can confirm they are the most stable mini heli I have flown. I was surprised to get the stated 15 min flight time, Inside the plastic battery package is a generic lipo that could easily be changed if needed. I bought 4 batteries with mine so it was a bit more expensive. My only doubt is the longevity of the brushed motor.
It flys really nice lee. Get a little fpv camera in there. I found a new hobby. Micro Rc trucks. I’m building one from scratch at tho mo. Really enjoying it, I might get this Heli. Cheers bud 👌😉🍻
very nice beginner copter, I've been reading about traditional helicopters on ardupilot I'll stick with planes and quads till I have more experience to build my own
Remember the trex400 and 600? Nitro? Setting up the swash, turning, and the furaba 401 gyro... multi rotors are perhaps complex as well, but mechanically a lot simpler, complexity moved to the FC. Crashing became a bit cheaper. Nice review btw. To bad, no 3d flying haha
I (ahem) still have that Futaba gyro on my Trex450, gathering dust on a shelf. I want to get it back out and fly it but the probable downtime repairing and rebuilding it has me tempted by this little beast instead.
That seems to be a very common pattern through RC, many of us started with heli's, persevered with them until multirotors came along where we all built KK1&2 or MultitiWii based jello machines, then along came FPV and eventually we moved on to fixed wing in all it's various forms, and then on to long range for some of us (who dare to admit it...) Happy days.
Well locked down, sorry to hear but BBC news had mentioned such. You know I have of course tried beating the air into submission with helicopters ... expensive and steep learning curve . Even tried putting a kit together, the lack of parts that fit, motor and pinion ...well its somewhere in the garage. Only thing I can see coming is your building one for fps. Using parts we are familiar with, after all our little flight controllers do have helicopter setting available . If you decide to give it a whirl, I'll dig the kit out and try to follow along . Should allow for some interest, radio programming weeks of good fun . Well take care .
Excellent review Lee. I have the identical Machine e129 and I pretty much agree with everything you said. Running the latest module upgrade V1.3.2.77 on my TX16s I had no trouble binding the heli and AETR functions work correctly from the start. I got the channel numbers for emergency cut off and land/launch buttons from the multimode website but haven't been able to make them work, or figure out how to switch between 6G and 3D mode. Any ideas?
Hi Keith Burrage, I'm using a TX16s bind to the E129, the Aileon Rudder and elevator work fine, but the throttle is not normal. It only works when I move switch A anywhere, the propeller will spin but will stop if I don't push the throttle up. And when I move switch A to another position The propeller will spin again. And when I push the throttle up It constantly flew to the left without lifting it to the air. I don't know what caused it. I didn't set up any Switch A on the E129 at all. Could it be about the Gyro or not on the e129?

Yeah. My Trex 600E flybarred heli did both of those to me two months ago.
