    I learned to fly on a 600 size nitro helicopter. After that phase I went to a 700 assembly. Bigger is always better because you can see what you are doing. The only reason smaller size platforms have become the new norm is cost.

    Great concise video. I don't know if you had mentioned it on the video but its usually not recommended to ad dual rates or exponential to both the tx and ikon/brain fbl controller. Its more precise (provides greater resolution) if only the fbl controller is used for feel with the tx providing raw signals. Always great watching your videos.

    Génial pour les débutants, mais peut-on faire de la petite 3D en style de vol "beginner" sur le brain2 ? En bref mettre l'helico sur le dos. Une petite vidéo sur le sauvetage serait vraiment sympa !!

      Tout est possible à partir du moment que tu as un mode idle-up avec une courbe de gaz en V/plat ou un régulateur, la principale différence résidera dans la réponse des servos, qui sera plus ou moins rapide, donc forcément tu pourras passer sur le dos, mais fait le à une haute altitude au cas ou les servos soient trop lent, mais tu le sauras en vol au fur et a mesure que tu connais ton hélico.

      Yes, you can do soft 3-D, and set up one or beginner set up in the Brain/iKon 2. But just remember everything is extremely slow. But! You don’t want a 0-60-60-60-60 throttle curve in that mode or “normal mode. You would want a flat throttle curve so 60-60-60-60-60 for example. I am working on a rescue video as we speak. Should be out shortly.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  7 месяцев назад +1

      And you also need to make sure you have a linear pitch curve in all three models or any mode you plan to do 3D in.

    Great video Jeff thank you. I‘m actually fighting with tail wag and tail bail out with my fireball hawok - can you tell me what number of tail gain you are flying with your fireball. Thanks a lot, Daniel

      @westhobbiesrc8051  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hey Daniel, thank you very much! What a FBL are you running? Is everything in the tail free and smooth? I have a video on Tailwag if you have not already watched it. I’m running 38,36 and 30 for my tail gain with a iKon mini.

    • @danielschibig8014
      @danielschibig8014 7 месяцев назад

      Hey Jeff thank you for your quick answer. I fly iKon 2 and the tail seems free and smooth, like in your tailwag-vid. It‘s scary in upright flight the tail hold, but suddenly in inverted flight the tail totally bail out……

    I have an AS3X and can't access any forward programming so I'm asking, can I also adjust the pitch range from the transmitter by playing with endpoints maybe?

      Yes, you can, go to your servo travel and Go to pitch and adjust it positive or negative to your desired pitch numbers.

    Hi thank you for your videos! I’m trying to bind my dsmx (latest version), but does not bind. A receiver is necessary to bind? I cant bind directly with ikon? Thanks

    • @scottbuck9348
      @scottbuck9348 6 месяцев назад

      I’m more of a futaba guy, so I can’t directly answer your question but for my setups, Yes all of my helis need a corresponding receiver, and then a flybarless system(gyro) .
      I believe with specktrum you need a receiver as well as a satellite that hooks into the receiver. But I’m sure Jeff could answer your questions in more detail then myself!

    can you use ardupilot with a heli like this?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  7 месяцев назад

      You can buy GPS FBL units. I don’t know anything about ardupilot. H1 makes a FBL GPS but I’ve seen guys use ardupilot on heli’s.

    What is a good hover pitch in degrees? Is it supposed to be 0?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  Месяц назад

      0 is mid stick, hovering will be anything around 4-6 degrees depending on the heli. Some helis a little more and some a little less.

    People you do realize the transmitter he is using cost over $1000 dollars.The average modeler can't afford such a device. I am currently using a Spektrum NX8 and that set me back $500 dollars.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  4 месяца назад +1

      It does not cost over a $1000 it’s under. It’s $900 to be exact. It’s a very well used radio in the hobby, I also have a NX8. A lot more people prefer spending the money one time and have a great radio for many many years.
