@Dr. Krieger Yeah jeez, this one video seems to have struck a chord with people. I think it's because it is one of the first results if you search for it on YT.
Really great job! I am working on a Rossi model 92 (same as 1892) with problems. Your video is very clear and I think I now know where the problem is, or where to look! Thanks! keep those videos coming!
Great animation work. It helped me to assemble my Win 1892 manufactured in 1895. The videos that show the disassembly, are not so easy to follow the process. thank you
And we have broken 2 million views... If I had known it was going to be so popular I would have spent more time on the animation :) Thank you to everyone that has watched so far.
We Americans love repeaters and revolvers. Firearms in general. There are several modern repeaters chambered in .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, 45 Colt, .30-30 Winchester, .308 Winchester, .45-70 Govt., .243 Winchester, and several other variants.
The 1892 is my favorite lever action rifle; a Model 53 (a short-magazine '92) in .32-20 was my favorite personal rifle for a long time. I like the action much better than the 1894. Browning had a bit of a step up in designing the '92 so quickly, as it's a reduced-size 1886, another fine design for Winchester.
Great job for a great rifle action, smooth as silk. I have a FMOBR takedown in 38-40, built in 1893, which in my experience is a better preforming caliber than the 44-40
This is why the 1892 is sensitive to overall cartridge length. No magazine cut off will allow short cartridges to jam the elevator. You can use only .38 with oal of .357mag.
The cartridge stop is highlighted at 0:40sec. You're thinking of the 1866/1873 rifles that have the big milled elevator block instead of a ramp style lifter, those rely on cartridge length alone.
Thank you for this video, I’m trying to figure out an enbloc clip fed 1886 winchester. Without access to one at the moment this helps for visualization
The best system there was, the lever action. Invented by Horace Smith & Daniel Wesson with their Volcanic pistols, developed by Benjamin Henry in his 1860 model and nailed by the one and only John Moses Browning for later Winchester versions, as seen in the animation here.
Now I understand why the trigger can't be pulled on half cock also those 2 bars that rise up and down are for locking which is confusing because the 73 model has something like that for ejecting the round
Sweet Jesus, I hadn't checked the analytics on this in a awhile. almost 1.5mil views! Something about this video has struck a cord with people and I am always in amazement.
This is a Winchester 1892. The 1860 Henry used a toggle link system, which was also used by the early Winchesters in the 1866, 1873, and 1876. The 1892 used a two lug locking system that was scaled down from the 1886. Unless we're watching very different videos, I see a locking lug moving up and down into a slot in the bolt, not a toggle locked knee joint.
@@pleaseleavemealone5234 Takes a quite a bit more than a hiccup to move the hammer on a lever action rifle such a this Browning designed M-92. I've hunted and packed lever action rifles for better than 30 years and have never had an issue. To have a discharge the notch that forms the half-cock position would have to be broken out enough for the hammer to strike the firing pin. The answer is not in removing the half-cock position because that would allow the hammer to rest on the firing pin where it would fire the rifle if the hammer was hit. The half-cock feature was used on most, if not all lever actions with an exposed hammer until fairly recently. It was there for a reason and it served and continues to serve that purpose for which it was designed. And it serves that quite well.

If i had them moving at their actual speed it would disappear in one frame, which looks more weird than if you can see it move. I tend to slow down these animations a bit so you can see each part doing its thing.
It's insane the everyday designs we take for granted. That a simple move could complete multiple actions is amazing and super resourceful

One "flaw" with John Moses Browning's 1892 was it needs to be vertical to function.
Try cycling the action upside down unloading it.
I guess you're technically correct. I don't personally see that as a flaw personally.

What makes the feeding ramp to stay in place? Not shown in the video.
I'd have to go double check the rifle, but I believe there was a conical lug on the left side of the lifter that held it in place.
