To answer some of y’all questions, in K-pop image is EXTREMELY important, in most companies the idols aren’t allowed to date. Btw, if any member is gay or somewhat part of the lgbtq community they are also forced to not share that information with fans. Specially considering how conservative South Korea is. Sometimes they are forced into plastic surgery so they look more appealing to the Korean beauty standards (which are almost impossible to achieve). And a lot of other restrictions.
In BTS’s case, they don’t have this many restrictions, since their company was more about the members expressing themselves Than being perfect dolls. So, they are, technically, allowed to date. However, they never do it publicly.
You guys also said that you’re not sure what their target audience is, men or women. And I’m pretty sure the guy on the right is confused as to if the members are part of the lgbtq community or not. So, as I said earlier, even if they were part of the lgbtq community, they can’t really share that information. And even though there are a lot of speculations about the topic, K-pop in general is a pretty “feminine” industry. It is expected for the idols to wear makeup, crazy hair colors and extravagant clothes. In fact, it is actually really interesting that an industry with so much homophobia is incredibly fine with men expressing their feminine side, but incredibly against them being openly gay lol.
So, honestly, we as fans just don’t assume anything about their personal lives. Especially if the reason you guys are assuming that is the makeup. Because that is extremely common. As to what is their target audience, honestly, BTS doesn’t necessarily do music for any specific demographic. Their music is just extremely diverse. Going from pop, r&b, rock, hip hop, Latin pop, ballads etc… they just attract alot of different people from different countries and backgrounds. Some of which are men, women, gay, straight, black, white… the list goes on.
If you guys want to know more about them I would definitely recommend the guide to the BTS members by Taylor.
Also the guy you liked is jimin (aka my favorite) and don’t worry, there is actually a joke in the fandom saying that once you Jim-in you can’t Jim-out because of how many straight men fall for jimin.
In fact you guys should watch “jimin making straight men question their sexuality” is really funny!!

Guys in the kpop industry wear make up like that to look the beauty standards called “flower boy , which came waaaaay back ( dynasty times ) from the “flower boys”a group or aristocrat young good looking boys that even make wear make up too look more beautiful , they were warriors and taught other stuff like ( literature , etc ). Those guys even perform for the crown sword dances , that was popular between the girls, so they were like the first good looking guys celebs lol there is even a drama about it which ironically one of the BTS members V ( the one you already watch his solo song ) acted on it which is call hwarang ( for hawarang boys meaning flower boys ).
So the k- idols follow that beauty standards meanwhile the male actors follow more the other one like is more common on west like more naturally and muscular. Which that influence came from west.

    • @georgiana3112
      @georgiana3112 11 месяцев назад +5

Actually in kpop they do date and have sex, just try to not make it public because scandals would hurt their career. There are many stories and also relationships exposed by the press and so on, they are people not robots. Also all the restriction that apply in the beginning when they debut ( and most are 17 to 20 years old anyway), do not apply, at least not to the same extent after years have passed and those idols are aready famous and valuable to the company. I'm sure Blackpink could not be forced at this point to have plastic surgery or anything, or someone from BigBang, Shinwa, whatever, just some examples. So BTS also had the pressure from korean culture even when the company gave them more freedom, but what made them famous besides the huge talend was the fact that they found a way to make different music, to behave in a different way, to be as authentic as they could in that industry, and people related to them. I wrote this comment cause by the way you explained, if I would be a first time k pop listener I would be so horrified by that info that I would not ever want to give a chance to anyone in that industry. What you said is not untrue but kind of exagerrated imo.

10:53 That gorgeous man is Jimin. You have been caught in the Jimin Effect. It’s a common enough occurrence that it even has a name. 🤷🏻‍♀️ The song is about temptation, so it makes conceptual sense they raised the sexy level a notch or seven in the styling and choreography.
This MV takes elements mainly from mythology like the myth of Icarus and a novel by a German author which deals with loss of innocence & self-discovery. The winged statue represents Abraxas, a deity in the novel who encompasses both light and darkness.

What they wear in photo shoots, music videos & public appearances is not what they wear in their lives streams or at home or in the studio. Looking perfect & dressed in high fashion is part of kpop. How others view them based off clothes/makeup has no influence on them or how they view their own masculinity. They are very secure in who they are. The sooner our country would adopt the same attitude the better imo. Clothes are clothes, they do not define one’s gender or sexuality & cutting edge fashion will always be something no one wears in their everyday life.

Hi guys, it's completely normal for you to think that they are sexy, or that they look like girls but it's part of their culture, it should be noted that they are not just pretty faces, but that they are very talented guys and that is why they are so big worldwide, Obviously our cultures are very different, I also judged them out of ignorance when I met them but little by little I got to know them and I admire them a lot. I am a girl who had never been attracted to a boy band like One Direction or The Jonas Brothers who were a sensation in my teens but recently I met BTS and it was a very different perspective, they compose, write their songs and are very involved to give them a personal meaning or through your own perspective; They have even been based on books, there is hard work behind their 10-year career. I recommend that you continue to react to more of his songs, you should react to the rapline songs like UGH!, Cypher 1,2,3 and 4, Ddaeng among others, you won't regret it, there are also videos of his performances that are impressive . There is also the BTS guide by Taylor so that you can get to know them better ruclips.net/video/huV_yIdxZPY/видео.htmlsi=P6vKui6KDxaXVzeF
Thank you because you have been respectful and I fully understand that you feel weird seeing the use of makeup on boys, but in Korea from the South is very common, the beauty standards are very high that apply to men and women and many people envy the perfect skin they have, and also they as "Idols" have many restrictions because they are prohibited from many things, they are very careful With their personal lives, as they get to know them, they will realize that they are very different from American artists and that they are very close to their fans.

bts is a great introduction for some people into how feminity and masculinity have no bearing on gender or sexual orientation in any culture and if we care about not only the boys but the world and we a coupla guys asking questions respectfully we should take the time to have the discussion. Makeup clothes a person's appearance is just that. Ofcourse we all have knee jerk judgment ls ingrained in us but the pause to have critical thinking beyond that is something that needs to be taught. To majority of the world as it stands.

Hello again...so you asked for some educated around a few subjects, so I shall try. Before I go further, I would like to thank you for the reaction, and recommend that you watch the explanation video that goes with this song. It is far deeper and has way more meaning than you may think. ruclips.net/video/5tlgAUE6yjg/видео.html If possible please do this as a reaction because I would love to see how you react when you find out what this song is about. So to the restrictions and girlfriends thing, your friend is generally correct about what she said for most k=pop groups, however BTS is not your normal k-pop group and the majority of that stuff didn't and doesn't apply to them. Their company allowed them way more flexibility than other kpop groups which is why they are who they are today. Most kpop groups when bts started didn’t have much say in their music (a lot of them still don’t) where BTS wrote, produced, composed, and were heavily involved in everything they put out. They've never followed or been a real part of the kpop industry which is why that industry has never liked them and why most ARMYs don't really care for k-pop as a whole. As for the make-up and looking like girls...🙄, I’ll say it again…Make-up was initially used by MEN all the way back Emperors and Kings. In general, the Kpop industry is about beauty, elegance, glamour. These ppl are called "Idols" and what Idol is going to be ugly or unattractive. That is what they are selling, even more than the music. So all of them, men and women, need to look perfect and beautiful. Think of it in the same vein as an Egyptian Pharaoh. Do you think they were any less manly because they wore make-up? They did so because they were the personification of a God, and a God in human form would need to be presented as flawless and the most beautiful and attractive person on the planet. I get the difficulty in understanding because my husband is a 61 yr. blk man raised in probably the same way you were where men have all the restrictions place on them for what a “real” man is supposed to look, act, talk, and be like. But as humans we can discern what we think is beautiful and what isn't. From a cultural standpoint and what we are used to seeing or what we have been raised to see or think of as beautiful, you may honestly not find any of them attractive (maybe their facial structure, because it is different from whites, black, etc. is not as pleasing to you) and that is fine, but classifying them as LGBTQ2+ or women like because you are not use to seeing beautiful man, is unnecessary. As a woman, if see another woman that is gorgeous/beautiful, and I say that, no one questions my sexuality. But you as a man seem to think that you are not allowed to acknowledge beauty, simply because the person in question is of the same sex. Confidence in your masculinity should ensure that you can see and acknowledge beauty without feeling any type of way about it. Beauty does not have a gender. However, none of that is as important as the music. Their music and storytelling (lyrics, beats, production) is just superior to most if not all other kpop groups imo.

I would like to add, with the exception of their earlier albums that were centered around school/puberty/transition into young adulthood, they generally don’t write a lot about crushes/attraction.
Relationships, & heartbreak yes, but not necessarily romantic ones. Even in many songs that seem to be to/about a “girl”, the girl is a stand in for ARMY, fame, or other topics. I Need U, Girl was originally going to be I Need U, Friend and the MV even makes more sense that way. They can also sound happy and light but have sad /dark or thought-provoking lyrics.
Long story short, most of their music is inspired by psychological concepts, novels, mythology, art, etc. and subjects that most people can relate to like growing up, mental health, self-acceptance, pressures to conform and more.

1:39 - Jimin. The saying goes, "Once you Jimin, you can't Jim-out." And you're not alone. Lots and lots and lots on men love Jimin. And make no mistake, BST are who you think they are. Just watch with an open mind. BTS even talked about BST in an interview and basically said, we showed ARMY who we are. It's not advertised, of course, but make no mistake, they show us what they wanted. And from what I can see (if you watch interviews, performances, etc, carefully,) they are reasonably transparent about who they are. And for God's sake, of course they have have lots of extracurriculars. And good for them. I adore them for exactly who they are. What beautiful men.

DEFINITELY please do the guide! I still enjoyed the reaction and I want to see more bts reactions. For the guy on the right.. in Korea and K-pop it is a common thing when guys do music video or stage performance to have outfits like these and makeup. It’s like an actor going on stage and getting make up put on. This specific song has that type of sexy theme to it where bts “ mic drop”is more track suits and T-shirts. It doesn’t mean their necessarily gay either. Please be as open minded as possible I would love to see more 😊 please do bts guide it’s long but worth it!! 💜

Quick correction bc no one has seemed to mention this yet but idols do have a dating ban for a few years while they’re still new after those years the dating ban is gone and they get to date they just can’t get caught. There have been loads of idols who have dated people and their companies don’t rlly care when they get caught and their are also a few idols who are married and have a child/children.

"Blood Sweat & Tears" is the title track from BTS' second studio album, WINGS. The music video for the song was released on 10 October at 12pm KST, four days after BigHit Entertainment released the music video trailer.
BTS sing about love. They are known for their multi-faceted songs, and this one is no different. It seems to correspond with the overarching theme of 'Boy Meets Evil', as evident by the many indicators of sin, temptation and Bible verses. BTS compare this person to the devil, saying that their love is 'too sweet', irresistible. Which again corresponds to evil and temptation.
However you interpret it, 'Blood Sweat & Tears' is an eye-opening part of the BTS storyline and definitely shatters the world of music. It essentially offers everything it has to fulfil its desires. "You" doesn't refer to a specific person, but rather desires for many things, from fame to recognition, greed to toxic addictions and so on. Our hero can't live without blood, sweat or breath - but he would rather have that desire than his own life.

One other thing that I haven’t seen mentioned is that in SK, at least as far as celebrities/media is concerned, men seem to have absolutely no hang ups re: acknowledging other men are handsome/attractive or even complimenting them to their faces. It’s not treated any differently from complimenting another guy’s watch.

It is the culture of K-pop to wear make up. As for pretty Jimin? There is something called the Jimin effect where men yes straight men are attracted to him. To the one who doesn’t believe we in the west have such a thing? The one artist who Jimin has been compared to for his sexiness is “prince”. Who wore make up and dress feminine. They are humble beautiful men. The video an introduction to the bts members is a good way to understand them, their fan base, and why they are so popular. Oh and their early stuff they go hard! Mic drop, dope, today, and idol

Yes, I used to think exactly like yall. I was raised on a large variety of music from country to r&b to soft rock, to metal (you name it, I probably have it in my phone lol). I even get made fun of when I go out with my homegirl to eat somewhere and I know all of the songs. She always say "of course you know this song 😐". Anyway, my point is this was a very different genre to me. And when my daughter used to watch their videos, she would be obsessed and I would look at it and be like "yup they are PRETTY." But the more I listen and learn about them they are truly amazing. The makeup shock and the view of femininity starts to wear off. No, they are not just for the LGBTQ community, they are for all communities. And if you listen to their songs (watch with the subtitles) they have great messages. None of their songs are about sex and drugs and shooting people, most of their messages are about loving yourself and being better and working hard. I would much rather my daughter listen to them than "WAP". My daughter is 15 and has started teaching herself Korean and now goes to a Korean immersion school where the teachers there say when she speaks Korean she sounds native. It is a culture shock BUT again, once you learn that they do everything from their choreography to their music video with a REASON. Nothing is just placed to kill space. Thanks for reacting and I hope you continue to react and learn more about these gentleman because they are so talented.
