Hi Dylan, you've convinced me into buying a 24mm f2.8 g for my Sony A7CII and it has made me very happy with how I'm feeling the fun in photography again. Wish you all the best Dylan.
I’m so proud of you honey. Watching you grow and find your passion in creating these videos has been so inspiring! You are incredibly talented and I’ve always seen that in you. So excited for what the future brings :)
Good for you, man. I really like the vibe of your videos. Hearing you say that you always used to be an insecure person (which I can relate to =)), but seeing you do so well in front of the camera is so cool. And btw, the pace of your videos really resonates with me. It feels like sitting down with a fellow lover of photography and just having a really nice talk about what we love.
You convinced me to buy that same Sony camera you have. And since I’m a truck driver who travels local in Texas, especially West TX, I’ve fallen in love with taking pictures there and in the panhandle.
I love your channel. You’ve always inspired me to take more photos. I work as a gaffer in the film industry so photography almost feels like work. You inspire me to quit that thought process and just get out and capture. And you just did that again with this video. Keep it up.
This is one of my favorite videos you’ve done! Good work! I love the straight shot of the car and the old antenna on the cabin. What did you use for editing, when you were beginning? Did you watch videos to learn, or self-taught?
I think it’s one of my favorites as well! I started out using Adobe Premiere but quickly switched over to Davinci Resolve. I would say half and half when it’s came to learning how to make videos. Watched videos to learn the basics and kinda just started doing what felt right once I knew my way around the software
Hey man, super excited to watch this video, thanks to you I just bought, today, the sony a7c, and I am so happy, thank you so much for your videos and your energy, kind regards, Lorenzo
My favorite shot from this video is the front elevation of the car with the Plymouth text on the hood. Before showing the image I thought, “he’s shooting too low and will block the windshield.” Turns out I liked the composition, without too many distractions around the car, and the color pops. This video is timely for me as I am a retired graphics engineer. I have loved photography all my life and I’ve been kicking around the thought of starting a RUclips channel focusing on the practical technical aspects of photography with real world examples. How to determine the equivalent focal length when cropping an image, or how to determine how many pano images you need to take with a 35mm lens to get a 20mm field of view for example. I shoot primarily with an A7RV, but if the A7CR was available I would have bought that - I love the look and the form factor!
I recently decided to make a vlog about my quest to fulfill my life long dream of becoming a veterinarian and inspire people to love and care for animals through my RUclips channel. I haven’t had the courage to make my videos public because I’ve been self conscious like what if I can’t achieve this goal I set for myself I would look like a total failure… but your story made me believe that I can make a difference as well. So thank you 🙏🏾
Congrats on the 10k! This resonates with me as I’m burnt out and trying to find the joy in photography again. Will definitely try to head out and take some photos.
I’m glad you made this because I do take an interest in the RUclips producers who make content I can really relate with. It’s also great to hear that you’re getting some partnerships to allow you to keep doing this! And, since you asked, here’s a photographer question. I’m about to pull the trigger on an A7CR myself, because I really like small cameras. Have you used the Zeiss/Sony 35mm f/2.8 “pancake” lens? I own the 35mm f/1.4 GM, but like you, would like a really small lens for street and everyday carry. I’ve always like the classic Zeiss images, thinking this lens might be a better alternative as a compact 35mm to the f/1.8 that is your mainstay. Thanks! ✌️
The Zeiss 35mm 2.8 is one of the only 35mm lenses I haven’t used. I’ve considered buying it so maybe I will one day. I’ve seen some people say it’s outdated but I know many people who are very happy with it!
The go to a7cr guy! Love all your content dude. Please do a video on the EFSC on the compact bodies and if it’s impacted your photos at all. Reassure all of us who think Sony cheaped out on us with no fully mechanical shutter on the a7cr and a7cii.
Thanks man! I’ll see if I can come up with a video idea that warrants a video long enough covering the EFCS. Personally in my experience it hasn’t affected my photography but we all have different use cases.
Lately I’ve been investing a lot more time into my channel. Focusing on black and white imagery, both film and digital. Always looking for feedback or just a sounding board. Congratulations on your success! Enjoyed this.
Loved the whole intro in the car, for me it was a bit different. Quite quickly when I progressed in my photography, I realized I didn't really care about client work since that would make me lose my creative freedom. I've always dreamed of making a living off of making RUclips videos. We'll both make it for sure. Imagine if we'd meet up one day, that would be sick! Keep going bro, you got this 🫡
Great advice, I started posting Instagram reels offering photography advice and Im starting to triple my reach. I had all the same excuses, who really wants to hear wha tI have to say? A lot of people actually, and I would be happy if just one person got something from it. Im at the point where I might be able to quite my day job driving tractor trailers, and do photography/videography full time, and make way more money. I know a lot of people would be interested in my insights, and now I am confident enough that I do know what I am talking about enough allow myself to teach. I always liked your videos for your sincerity. We don't know each other but you come across like an old friend. I want to see you double down on RUclips and get more ambitious, I really feel you have something unique to say and offer that the other camera tubers dont.
Thanks for the insight :) You're one the reasons I (finally) made the decision and bought a A7C. Now I'm debatting the 35mm 1.4 because 35 mm is all I need right now. ;D
Just got my A7cii with 24mm G lens! Thank you for your helpful content, and good luck reaching that 10k! Try converting some of your photos to black and white; you will find they will look really nice, and don’t forget the rule of thirds!
Thank you, you are inspiring me. i found you because i'm planning to buy the A7C. i think I'm gonna have my faceless youtube some time in the future hehe
Thank you for sharing. Having moved from A7C to the A7CR what are your thoughts on noise levels between the 2, mainly at ISO 6400 and below? I’m using the A7Cii but tempted by R as I do a good bit of landscape/city shooting.
I generally try not to shoot above 1600 or 3200 ISO in most cases no matter the camera. Personally I haven’t noticed a big difference between both camera sensors when it comes to noise. I don’t think you’ll have any issues!
I was surprised you drove past the old shack with the graffiti on it. Nice camera and lens setup. A7C II and 35 1.8 also. Good Luck! I enjoy your videos!
Looking back now I regret not stopping too! Right next to it is an underpass with train tracks above which could make for a cool composition. I’ll probably go back in a future video!
I got an a7cii and am interested in video first. I think the lens I want is that new 24-50m sony G lens as it is versatile and compact. Might get a fast prime lens to combo with it but not sure on which one. That would be my night lens
I made a video recently testing out the 24-50 and I mentioned I would pair it with my 35mm 1.8. I think that or the 35mm 1.4 GM would be a great option!
Hello Dylan! I'm a big fan of your content and cinematography. Do you think it's possible that you can tell me what type of tripod you use to mount your A7C on the car? I would be very grateful. 🙏🏼❤️
You are Truly inspiring. I started uploading to my channel in 2020 right when I was unemployed due to COVID. But I weren't so consistent as you were. My goal is to hit 10k as well at some point (hopefully sooner than later). I am hitting 5k soon which is already mind-blowing to me
The plan is hopefully in 2025! It’s quite the investment to have a book (zine is a bit more forgiving) made and copies printed so before I do that I want to make sure there is plenty of interest!

Glad I could help you out man! Killer combo!!
I've just purchased the same setup. Should be arriving next week. And yes, I also have Dylan mostly to blame for that!

Can’t recommend it enough. The original A7C is still a great camera in 2024!
