    Dear people. This video is done in order to raise an awareness for what Indian people are facing in Malta. As i said in the video, this is NOT whats ALL Indians are going thru, but majority yes, and they are being silent about it. We are all humans and we need to have the same rights! Also, please pay attention to those Hindi speaking RUclipsrs who say that Malta is a paradise on Earth for Indians, they benefit from your views by giving you a wrong vision about Malta!

    I'm so glad someone posted something like this. The racism here is insane and on top of what you mentioned, minorities here experience alot discrimination from random people on the street. It's so disgusting how they get called names and get shamed for working low wage jobs. Reminder that without these people, we wouldn't have food delivery, a large employment in the tourism industry and much more. People have no empathy or humanity and it's sickening.

      Well these people are usually laborers who want to send money to their family to have a better life back home so they try to reduce their expense as much as possible. They usually come alone and prefer a 260 Euro per bed than renting out an entire apartment. However what Canada does to its international students is a lot worse. They get exploited by employers as well as spend their parents savings here hoping of a better tomorrow.

      I am from the Netherlands, and last May I visited a friend from India who has been living and working in Malta for 5 years. I stayed in a nice hotel. How shocked I am, he had not received any wages for the last 3 months. He works as a security guard. The hostel was full of black mold on the walls. He lives in the ..therose hostel in st julians. He was sick, coughed up blood and had a fever, this is terrible. They live and sleep like animals in a cage! Now he had an ear infection again, last year he had been in the hospital. This cannot and should not happen!!!

    Hey Alex. Very sad to see how people are exploited. But to be honest, this state of affairs is quite common in many countries. Many bachelors are willing to stay in such accommodations just so that they can send home some money to their families. Thank you for sharing this video. Not many people are honest about the living conditions. They just want to paint the picture colourfully so that more agencies can bring people to live in such conditions.

They get a portuguese passport and run in 5 years to germany and france. There they make 60 euros a day but so expensive and 3 months of snow they still do agriculture hotels and labouring jobs. They remain on visa there. Portugal is cheaper to live in they dont need heating in winter. People are in bad times in europe. In uk people are dying to the tune of 500 a week as no hospitals are doing well. Plus gas for heating homes is 2500 a year. Many end up mental wrecks working long hours. Even techies from india suffer. Being a charted accountant from uk i have buisness here. So many are comming and drink like mad as potugal has cheap booze. The 1 bed flats old ones start at 90 lakhs indian. Many say 60 came on golden visa with money to invest in property. The days of living in west on low money is humiliating. In uk on tv you see them queing in food banks. In london dont take jobs below 150,000 pounds, i say it for techies google medical system in uk has collapsed. A tooth removal is £200,out side london in other cities professionals should not accept below £80.000. In portugal too govt health service is crumbling as indians who earn low had children in portimao hospital.,for free now its out in the papers that indians abused the system. So in south portugal area called algarve they are not doing maternity for foreigneers, i wish Indian you tubers would stop lying about things in uk and europe. Thank you @AlexinMalta You are a great human as you feel for all and not just your country men and you speak from the heart. To anyone, who is reading, what Alex said is 100% correct. I’m in Malta and when I was looking for apartment, I was struggling even with agents from 5 different agencies working in parallel, and no one was able to find me an apartment because landlords in Malta don’t want Indians, stating that we cook food with spices, which is ridiculous as I’m not sure which odour/smell/ fragrance/ scent can stay stuck to a thing/ room forever. They even don’t care if you earn decent and probably are in a better job than them. These landlords are not even interested as they are suckers for other Europeans. Sorry about saying this but this is what I felt. For people who say no one invited us here, should ask people who have restaurants here, who were about to close because they had no man power to support business when visas were not getting approved due to Covid. I would also like to remind them that, when someone is coming from another country, the country benefits from the hard work and brain of the immigrant. Getting a legal immigration ensures that. However, I see this only with greedy landlords not everyone. Most of the Maltese people are otherwise warm and friendly and so is this great landlady educated in all respects whom I found only with luck. I am quite qualified and educated, work in decent job in banking sector, but at one point was on verge of not finding a place to live for me and my family just because I’m an Indian and had to ultimately settle for a much higher rent than I originally budgeted due to lack of options.

    I do think that many of the people who pursue these types of jobs in foreign countries need to be more responsible about the decisions they make. I live in Dubai and have met many people interested in jumping at any opportunity to get work in a Western country but they don’t seem to make the slightest effort to get basic information about the country much less try to find out what the conditions on the ground really are. For example I’ve met people wanting to go to Portugal yet they haven’t even bothered to find out where it’s located, what language is spoken and other basic details. Yet they were told by an agent, friend or relative that they can make such and such amount of money and are ready to jump. These people are all adults and they need to be more critical and responsible when it comes to making major decisions. 0:01

    Hi Alex, Malta is usually a microcosm of what is happening everywhere else in the world. I live in Canada and know Indians or South Asians who work 2 or even 3 jobs. High rents, especially in Toronto and larger cities, minimum wage, and the burden of trying to not only live a decent life, but also having to or being obligated to support families back in India. The Indian government surely has to bear the blame for some of this.

      In india increasing salary is not that hard. If all people unite the minimum wage could be increased to atleast 2-4x and it will also increase inflation to 2-3x . But ultimately things will be affordable to us. Like travelling, buying laptops , cars etc. But indian govt is not doing it or focusing on it so that india remains cheap labour Paradise . Being cheap labour paradise you goet food and home but cannot enjoy life as other things are still expensive.

    What's wrong with 6 beds in one large room? British and Aussie backpackers are more than happy to sleep like that in South East Asia. You have to consider the price! 260/month is 9 euros/day. That's cheap, even for backpackers who have very little money. These Indian guys come here to make as much money as possible for a few years and then go home, kick back and enjoy the fruits of their labour. They are mainly young lads, happy to rough it for a while and save their money. They don't come to Malta to settle down and make families. They probably have a good bit of banter in these "dorms". The person who suffers here is the landlord, he will have to replace the bathroom/kitchen every few years due to heavy use, and possibly the neighbours due to noise. Let me tell you, i've personally seen much worse conditions in London (people sharing beds on shifts, 8 hours each).

    • @AlexinMalta
      @AlexinMalta  Год назад +1

      You, and people who share the same opinion as you is the problem in this society! But if i have to come down to you level, let me do the math. Did you see the photos of the kitchen and the bathroom ? Those together cost 3K for sure! The monthly income these landlords are making is €5.7K equal to €68,400 per year. If they have to change bathroom and kitchen every year they CAN and they will still keep huge profit.

    • @paulbrown5839
      @paulbrown5839 Год назад

      @@AlexinMalta So what? What's the problem? As i said, many young British people travel the world and stay in dorms like this, its normal if you are on a tight budget and want your money to stretch. People like yourself, have migrated permanently and expect a better standard of living. These Indians are on a cash grab. Go to London, you will find many people from all over the world living like this to get some money behind them. Then they move on to better things. These Indians and the Maltese landlords - both are doing OK out of the arrangement. If you have your way and this stops, the Indians will lose out. The landlords will have to rent to East Europeans instead - i'm sure the landlords prefer decent Indians, they are less trouble.

    Otherwise this will be the case in any country where you will be on mercy of those people and you can do nothing about it if they choose to treat you bad. It is a bloody world and Indians need to stop insulting their own land and also stop abandoning it rather than fixing it.

The renting out to Indians....I used to rent out my apartment but when I rented out the apartment to a person from Nigeria my place end up to be a dump. It was a horrible experience apart from having to deal with them. My sister lives in a block of apartments and for a time there were Indians living there that in just a few weeks the apartment was a dump and the drain were clogged. So I am sorry as much as I agree with you that all these people should have the same opportunities and treated with dignity and respect; I would never recommend to rent out to Indians etc. I am not a racist at all. Is an hard situation to manage, in the end of the day, because there are also European people unemployed because Indians accept to work in any conditions. Maybe european countries should just accept people from abroad if they already come with a job that offers them dignity and is not possible to hire an European person. We thank them for all their service in developing our country/cities.
    Thank you for your video aswell.
    I’ve been to Valletta. Beautiful country. Keep it up.

    This is why I would support visiting the country as a tourist before deciding to live in it, so you can check out the situation. Also, I'm curious, after all these years, why aren't the Indians in the UAE aware of the situation? Why hasn't it gone public/viral?

    Make a video of how the maltese feel. We are cramped! Super overpopulated! Malta is ruined thanks to our greedy government. And things will get worse! Yes malta is very expensive even for the maltese. Just think how we can fit all these foreigners on this tiny rock. Not just indians but from all over the globe! The low wages are for the maltese also! Do your homework before being robbed here.

    It's been going on for years Alex. Some, not all, Maltese owners let their properties to Europeans, Russians and others who then sub-let to foreigners who come to work in Malta. I know of apartments in Marsa and Paola that are 2 bedroom with 10 guys sharing, each paying 250 a month. The apartments are unfurnished and full of mould. As long as people keep coming to Malta that are willing to work long hours for minimum wages, it won't stop. Cheaply-built blocks of flats built with only breeze-blocks (held together with only spots of cement) erected by some of Malta's so-called 'Major developers, have been rushed because the contractors KNEW the Govt were wanting 50,000 Asian and African workers to come to 'help the economy'. Greed, simple. Pure greed. I fitted aluminium doors and windows in many of these new builds and we could never believe how they were built. You can see daylight through the gaps in these walls that then get plastered lol. First sign of winter and they become damp-infested.

    Except for the fact that it's not true that Maltese don't rent to Indians
    Many Maltese people are finding it hard to find rent because of flats mostly rented by Indians
    We have thousands arriving by the week
