I just had someone stand on the brakes. Subaru owners use the starter. Put the wrench in, let it rest on something strong (or hold it), and bump the starter.
I managed to get mine out last night with a 15/16" 6-point socket on a little 3/8 impact wrench. Didn't have a 24mm socket on-hand to see if it would fit better.
