5:09 I fully understand this part. There is so much going on with the intake manifolds on these.

Haha, Oh man I'm doing your 5tec mod right now and I have been fighting with the lower intake for 2 hours and I finally go to see if you have a lower intake removal video and here it is Lol, GOD DAMNIT, captured my frustrations perfect man! Mines not an automatic though so I don't have the trans sensor thing that was blocking your socket, my issue is 1. shit is close to impossible to see or reach even with 2 feet of extensions and a swivel socket, 2. Engine is totally covered in a thick goopy layer of oil residue, 3, there is one stud on the lower intake that is so long I cant pull the intake out far enough to get off of it. Man this Isuzu trooper fetish of mine is truly a love/hate bond.

I would seriously consider just removing the head with the intake on it if you need to remove it. It's a lot easier to get to with the head off and actually takes LESS time. Check out my head on 2.6 cylinder head removal.

I need to fix the be coolant hoses under the intake Do I have to take the intake off !? I really don’t need a huge job to replace that darn hose. That now is leaking big time since I added a thermostat. It was running fine without one lol

hello johnny5 I hear a lot about you on the Isuzu forums. I have a 89 trooper se with that itec system. it appears to have a vacuum leak. idle is at 1500 rpm. at random it will drop down to 200-600 rpm then climb back to 1500. or it will just die. this also tends to happen when i rev the engine. just to pinpoint the issue, all the vacuum hoses have been taped up however it still seems to be around 1300 rpm. I tried tightening the screw on the tps until it sat at 900 rpm but the engine just shakes like crazy. im wondering if I must do to my engine what you have done for the one in the video. thanks for sharing ive been hesitant on doing this myself.

Do you know if I need to remove the itec to access the fuel rail? trying to clean my injectors and i can’t figure out how to get in there under the itec but i really don’t wanna deal with taking it out. thanks

Hi Johhny5, I have an 89 Spacecab with the 4ZE1. I'm missing whatever goes into the exhaust manifold behind the O2 sensor. Is this the EGR tube you were talking about?

Hi Johnny. Is that the EGR pipe strap bolt that you were having such a time getting to? I have an '89 2.6L with the ITEC and 5 spd. I'm trying to change out the EGR pipe and really struggling to get a wrench or socket on that damn thing! Am told that jacking up the tranny makes the engine tilt forward and access easier to the back of the head and manifold? Just would like to hear your thoughts on it. I paid for the new EGR pipe btw so eliminating it at this point wouldn't be an option. Thanks man!

+Fiftychev Pu The only good news is that it's usually not very tight. I can usually get it with a medium sized crescent wrench. It's actually a 22mm but wrenches are usually like a foot long. I've got a descent wrench that I can usually weasel in there.

+Johnny5ive Thanks for the response Johnny. I was able to get the fittings on the EGR pipe itself with a 22mm crowsfoot that worked pretty well. The strap in the middle holding it to the bellhousing? is the one I'm struggling with.

12 mm headed bolt that goes into the head. I usually get it with a 12mm ratcheting wrench. good luck!!
