    Good video, but you have some errors in it.
    Always deflate the tire before you remove the axle nut.
    You should never inflate a 2 piece wheel assembly before it's installed on the board. It is a bad practice and super unsafe, doesn't matter if it's a big vehicle wheel, an aircraft wheel or an eskate wheel.
    They can and will separate if there is any failure of the hardware or wheel half. You are trusting the nuts and bolts once you remove the axle nut. I don't trust the hardware most manufacturers use on Eskate.
    I have had multiple 2 piece wheels fail on all sorts of things big and small. It is never a good experience, that's why tire cages exist.
    You can Google around and see for yourself. even a smaller tire has enough pressure and power to damage your hand/face/body.
    Store tires at 8psi unmounted. Mount them to the board with the axle nut in place before fully inflating the tire.
    There is a reason that every standard maintenance practice manual states to do exactly the same, believe it or not, the bearings and axle nut will hold together the wheel half in the event of a hardware or wheel failure.
    Also you can shift the position of the tire around on the wheel after finding the heaviest point of the wheel half, that is what balancing actually is. for example every set of sunmate tires and wheel assemblies I've had always comes heavy side by the valve stem. Adding tire talc does nothing to actually fix the balance.
    Look into static balance of a wheel to get a full indepth understanding of how and why it works.
    You verify this by placing the wheel assembly on the axle and letting gravity do it's thing. the spot the wheel stops rotating at is the heavy point. remove the tire and rotate it 180 degrees and reinstall and re check. If you let go of the wheel assembly and it doesn't move, it's neutral balanced and you will have zero wobble.
    Tire talc is a good thing, but all it takes is a light dusting. The purpose of the talc is reduced friction and moisture absorbance.
    You make some awesome content, but what you just showed wasn't safe or particularly accurate. I would be happy to walk you through the process indepth if you ever really wanted to learn how.
    Amazon sells drone and model airplane balance kits for cheap if you want to really dial it in more than the axle shaft method I use.
    I'm not trying to come off as harsh in my criticism of the video, I actually enjoy your videos.

    Nice timing a ive been wondering how best to do this over the last 2 weeks. As always you have the answers. Thanks again. 😊

    You can use flour also and you have to add weights. Then once you fix the balance add a tire liner and slime sealant in the tube. Then pump air slowly in the tube and fix the tire to be even against the rim and then fully inflate. Almost never have to worry about flats. 0 wobble feel going 30mph.

      Good advice. Massage the tire/tube after each pump (5 psi or so).

    Unity...damn Dude, you need a couple more tires in your stock. You are starting to run low.
    I am curious and want to run this by you for your thoughts. This is how I have always balanced my off-road tires. I put the tire on without the tube. I then spin the tire until it stops. Generally, the tire will stop with heaviest point in the lowest position. I then mark that position with a sharpie. I then take the tire apart and put the tube in, but I put the valve stem opposite the mark on the tire. So now my lowest position is somewhat countered by the apex position of the valve stem of the tube. Has usually worked well for me. Let me know your thoughts.
    Tire Talc is always a good thing to use when putting the off-road tires together.
    I don't think, as you said, we will ever get rid of the wobbles until they start putting a little more science behind the production of these tires. There are a lot of bumps and bulges in these tires that are just going to throw them off.
    Great vid. Appreciate what you do.

      great input. and yes i have done that with the small weights. but didnt put on the tire without the tube. i simply found the heaviest spot by deflating the wheel, then lightly spin the free roll wheel, and find the heaviest spot. and then put the small weight on the opposite side. it definitely helps. i just feel like adding weight isnt the right way.. i know it sounds silly, but id rather not do it that way. getting rid of friction is my personal preference. how u liken the mad wheelz?

      @@esk8unity Well, if anyone is going to figure it out, you will...appreciate all your insight into the wheel world.
      I am going to have to say that I think the Wheelz are going to dethrone my 120 Cloud Wheels. I am really liking them. They do give a great sense or confidence in carving and cornering that I don't have with the Clouds.
      Appreciate the response.

    Nice informative video and good you mention the talc. Many don't know 👌. Just like bike and car tires. Weights are good if you done the tire right like you did and it still is way off and creates a wobble that influence you even during driving (vibration). Keep it up buddy 🤙

    Awesome dude! Never considered the Talc. I'm thinking baby powder works the same?. To do a "balancing vid without even bringing-up weights is negligent - If nothing else you need a weight to offset the stem.

    I did not know about tire talc. Thank you. I’m gonna try this. My wheels wobble so bad it ruins the board.

  • @MoAvW
    @MoAvW Год назад +2

    Doesn't affect the balance whatsoever. Use weight balance.

    • @esk8unity
      @esk8unity  Год назад

      sure it does. helps eliminate pinching which is VERY common with these small tubes/tires. which throws off the balance and makes a wobble sensation. i also believes it helps a little with friction. i can literally feel the difference..

    • @MoAvW
      @MoAvW Год назад +5

      @@esk8unity Sorry, I still don't agree. This is a method of inserting large tubes into big tires, in order to loosen friction. It has nothing to do with balance as the hub circular weight distribution is what affecting the imbalance. The tube and the tire are always in contact and don't move in relation. But if it helps with the pseudo balance, by all means.

    I feel like I could tighten the screws forever and I can more screw threads in the back of the tire than on the tires that are still factory tightened.

    Which tires and sizes do you like most on your high end boards? I like 8" on my Lacroix but maybe there is a phatty that's not quite as big as the 200x75. Maybe like a 7" that's a little wider than the standard? Do they make something like this?

      i like evolve 7” on my flux and lacroix. there stock rim stretched out the tire a bit too ✅💯.

    Question, cause I'm so lost: would the 8'' lacroix tires fit on the same wheelhub/rim that comes with the 6'' HOTA wheels? I want to upgrade to 200mm (ONSRA Velar tires) from 150mm HOTA tires and I honestly don't know if there are special hubs for the 200mm wheels or I can use the HOTA hubs that came with the 6'' wheels. They look the same to me, but I'm not sure.
    Thanks in advance, awesome video as always.
