exactly the type of videos i needed, sometimes it feels like i need to be a mechanic to understand eboards. This is awesome and all i need is to understand the belts that go with the pulleys.
This the video I will share to anyone who doesn’t understand about how pulleys work. Very well done Fred, thank you for making this informative video🤙👌
Nice video. One thing I would mention is that at the end of the day what effects the performance of the board is the ratio between the rotation rate of the motor axle and the wheel (Gear ratio). When you change the pulley size and wheel size this alters the gear ratio which alters the top speed/ acceleration. The other things that has an effect is the moment of inertia of the wheel and how much the wheel deforms while it’s rolling (nematic wheels deform more then PU wheels)
Thanks again, Fred, for yet another educational video. My 32t's should be here soon. Now we just need your ankle to heal and a break in the cold weather ⚡️
Education is important. I see comments and random throw away lines from other youtubers about different pullys not working. This right here was hella informative. Thanks dude. Keep up with the informative content while that gash heals.
Good info. I have verreal and backfire. The backfire pulley bearing is huge.15mm. Do certain pulleys only work on certain boards? Or truck style? Lmk. Hoping your expertise can help me. Thnx
@@norcaldave so backfire and most exway products have a different pully than most. there bearing are superrr large so unless u wanna use all backfires and exways with each other, all the others mostly fit other boards besides those two
Great video, just what I needed as a beginner! Do you know of any smaller tooth pulley sets that are compatible with the stock acedeck rim? Changed to the hotas but my top speed is slower than I'd like.
Super solid video. I appreciate you not making the “best board” comments. However, it would be cool to maybe see your reviews of the boards in a group test, but definitely to have your reviews of different wheels on different boards/trucks
You gotta talk about belts. Belt knowledge is key to pulleys. Size matters 12mm width compared to 15mm. It’s different on some boards. 265,275,325 etc.
Question, Torque/acceleration is that jerky feeling when maxing out the throttle on the remote? I know this is mitiagtes by proper stance and overall adaptation to the board. Does bigger vs smaller have a bigger power draw? Like less range using one over the other
thanks bud.. the exway trucks are a bit different from most other truck axles. I believe the atlas is a lot larger so the bearings for ur pullies are much larger in diameter . if im right about that, then ur stuck with what exway sells with there kegal sets (make sure its the 10 hole/prongs, not 12 that they have that comes standard)… but as i mentioned in the video, its really personal preference but with that board id go for 36t - 38T
I have a question. I have verreal and backfire boards. The backfire pulley bearing is huge.15mm. I'm assuming I cant use it on my verreal board. Do certain pulleys only work on certain trucks...boards?
Could I pair the 40t with the dad bods on my hurricane? I like that low down torque so it would interest me. Also if so, what sort of top speed would I be looking at? 29/30??
Hey I've got A question about motor pulleys in general.. I've been looking for some D Shape 15T motor pulleys and can't find much other than some 6061 aluminum motor pulleys from HTD with double grub screws.. just wondering is 6061 pulleys will be strong enough or will only steel work?
I know this video is a bit older but so much great info in here. I do have a question. I just got the cloudwheel FE 105s and love them but the 44t pulley doesnt have a front bearing like my stock exway pulley does. I assume this is to make the pulley more universal but should i be worried about that? Im wondering if i should order the exway 44t which does have a front bearing. Or is this a pretty nominal difference?
@@Subie_699 thanks bud. yes this video will ALWAYS be a great educational flick for the community. exways pullies are tricky. but i know what u mean. however the kit comes from cloudwheels, i would use. Some of them dont need the front bearing. spin it and see how it spins on the axle without the wheel. make sure theres no wobble/play
Hey Fred, I'm confused. I thought more teeth on the wheel pulleys mean faster acceleration and lower top speed, and vice versa for pulleys with lower teeth count. Are you saying that you prefer smaller pulleys because you are willing to sacrifice acceleration for a higher top speed? Wouldn't accelerating from 20mph with smaller pulleys be weaker in this case?
yes thats correct. so if ur using larger T pully, and ur already traveling at 20-22mph, and u hit the throttle, ur not really gettn much more juice outta the board. so a smaller pully will allow u to have more speed left in the tank throttling at 20mph: acceleration off the line is already very good for a lot of these newer boards even with smaller pullies
Hey bro, you ever have any issues with your evolves locking up the brakes? I’m on my 5th board and it finally happened to me. Never had an issue with any of my other boards. But just got this new Stoke 2 and it tried to kill me
nah i haven’t.. one of my stokes motors went bad. and they replaced it the next cpl days. and my orginal gtr , i damaged my remote, it lost connection eventually and the board free rolled. .. a brand new remote and it was good as new..is there a energy source to actually lock up the brakes by themselves? i thought that was cleared up with “electroheads” youtube channel. iv had other manufacturers launch me off with other malfunctions tho 😞
