Something that helped me a ton when I was learning to coleman was the "punching the parrot" trick. Swing out and drive your trailing arm like you're trying to punch a parrot on your leading shoulder. It helps you commit to the shoulder and torso movement, and your hips naturally follow.
Great video bro, it's not easy to explain how to slide. I'd just add two important things that help a lot. - 1: band your knees before standup slides. - 2: most of your weight must be on the front foot.
Man you’re getting great at doing this stuff. I was surprised how Big the evolve 97s are when I got the board and was pleasantly surprised. I’ve got a set of abec 107s to try in the future but the 97 evolves do the job and make a pretty nice cruiser wheel IMO.
thank you 🙏🏼 . and i agree ab the evolve 97s. id say there my top 3 street wheels. have a great balance of acceleration, speed, range, grip, size and sliding. they also have sooo many cool colors. My hurricane is usually utilizing the 97s. That setup destroyed the $3500 Hoyt Urban assault board. 💯🤙🏼
@@esk8unity were you able to have fun carving? i'm worried that i wont be able to push and skate with its wide setup too... but the suspension looks next level
What do you guys think about using two kinds of wheels for sliding? Grippy ones in the front, and hard at the back? It kinda works for me, but I have never slide with all 4 hard wheels 😂 I do a lot of gravel slides tho.
I have tried a buddies board with clouds and found them to slide super smooth. No judder or chattering. They are well worn in admittedly with no tread left.
Just my 2 cents: don't slide on an electric board. You're just wearing out your wheels, which reduces grip, something that is even more important on an electric board because you're going (and turning) faster than a regular one. Electric longboard wheels are also not cheap to replace (often costing similar to a regular board anyways) My advice is to just buy a separate regular board for sliding, and don't slide on your electric one.
1: thats the point. to reduce traction. 2: many people (street wheel riders like myself) have more than 1 set of street wheels 3: some street wheels have better grip than others. some are more for sliding . 4: sliding the wheels actually doesnt reduce the grip. in fact, wearing them in, makes it more predictable. 5: if you are having trouble taking a fast turn with street wheels, i suggest practicing a bit more. 6: if u wanna maximize speed while turning, i suggest pnumatics. 7; i disagree ab wheel pricing. i think some are super cheap, some are fair, and some are of course expensive. 8: unfortunately this account isnt about push boards. but thats way easier to do since its such light weight and nimble. 9: a set of loaded orangatang wheels are around 60 bucks. some electric longboarding wheels are cheaper than that. but unfortunately eboarding isnt a cheap sport to begin with. buying a 600-2600 dollar eboard then being worried about cost of wheels just seems like a odd scenario to me 10: lastly and more importantly , street wheels last a VERY long time. i still have my original orangatang orange 85mm wheels. perfectly in tact and still great predictability and grip. probably over 5000 miles on em. so to sum it up, i wouldnt worry about wearing out street wheels. certainly not losing more grip .
@@esk8unity That's a lot of info, so I'll just address some of them: 1: thats the point. to reduce traction. 4: sliding the wheels actually doesnt reduce the grip. in fact, wearing them in, makes it more predictable. These points seem contradictory. I would have to disagree on making them more predictable. When you slide, you aren't doing the exact same amount of heelside and toeside slides, which means that one side of your wheels will always have more wear. As an extension to this, The more you slide, the more cone-shaped your wheels become, which makes the contact area with the road less, which means less traction/grip. Regarding the price, I should really have specified that what I said applies mainly to hub motor boards. 120mm cloudwheels for hub motors cost $230 CAD, which is a very steep price to pay. If you go with a belt drive board and just standard longboard wheels, then it makes a lot more sense if you just get another set; one purely for transportation, and one for sliding/fun.
@@ruhtraeel “seems” tells me u dont have experience sliding. it doesnt make it “cone shaped” who told u that??? just like anyyyy other wheel, ever, with more use, u rotate to even out the use/wear. so no, its not contradicting at all.. let me know when u start sliding . cant speak for CAD money, but usa is accurate

Why would someone want to punch a parrot? Interesting catchphrase.
@@Catamount19 I think it's just because not a lot of things naturally hover over your shoulder haha
This is actually the most helpful video I’ve watched

We have to learn from the master one day! 🔥🔥
Man I really love your videos. I will be watching this one a lot!
Thanks for the video man, I really enjoyed it and it bumped up my stoke level to try sliding on the e skate.

I run evolve 97's on my Beast board . Changed out the deck and its like no other board . But the wheels made it so awesome . 👌
Killing the vids so informative
This would be an amazing way to test traction of the wheels… “can I make ‘em slide”
When you gonna put the ENDEAVOR2 to the test?? Would love to see you try to carve that one.
Great video and tips!
would love to have the endevor on the channel. i ridden the pro once, a few months ago. she was fun. recommend Propel to get it on the channel 👌🏼🤘🏼🤙🏼💯

Question…do you think the Onsra Black Carve 3 would be a good first board? Thoughts?
Thanks.
of course. fantastic board! use my discount code!
7:14: Yeah, I can't do that.
Is sliding possible for a mini electric skateboard ?
yep
How do you feel about sliding clouds
hey bud! i did it on the new wowgo at +…. when u have tred patterns like clouds, its a little harder to push through that. but its definitely doable

Not my riding style but love watching others who ride like this its badass.
🙏🏼
Should I break during the slide?
i dont . however i have done it with a toe side slide with my zealot
@@esk8unity thank you, i also have a zealot, i feels like it's too heavy to break traction but I'll keep trying
Hahaha, Love the Bloopers haha,
me too! im surprised no one said anything 😆 😂
@@esk8unity maybe they got off before the ending, lol. I can watch it times over hahahahaha! ONE LOVE PLAYA!

dirt is much easier
