I appreciate someone making a vid about this. It was unfortunate tho how you packed experience with some of the wheels. Perhaps you can make an updated video where you film each wheel in use and compare them and test like you did for uphilling and decide on your personal favorite.
I have the 165 Rover wheels on my exway atlas. Compared to the stock pneumatic wheels there are a few pros and cons. The peace of mind of not having to worry about flat tires is really nice. I get about 50% more range with them as well. They look very stylish and sporty. They are definitely not as comfortable and much harder than I was expecting. It really doesn’t feel like the air cushion inside makes a difference. It seems to just help with the weight mostly. Pneumatic tires are way softer and more comfortable and a lot more grippy. I don’t consider the rovers to be off-road wheels as they don’t have nowhere near the same grip in the dirt. I’d like to say they’re extra efficient street wheels that add some comfort because of their large diameter. But all in all I mostly use the rovers for the peace of mind and efficiency. They are great.
*Thank you for your broadcast from heaven* 👀 I'm glad they finally made FE, a flat contact patch version of their OG cloudwheels, I'm just curious how they will Feel to ride, subjectively compared to the other wheels in this size category, specifically the 105s. Awesome to see they are stone ground. Great video! 🤙🏽⚡️🤟🏽⚡️🤙🏽
Hydros ( 2:41) have a rubber contact patch, not urethane, so theoretically better for not slipping... but I don't have tested them in first person 😅 I'm on acoustic/Ldp boards, don't ride much in the rain but in winter I'm always tempted to get hydro wheels, just for safety. Great video anyway! 😊😊
And he comes out of hybernation One thing: You left out hub motor sleeves. Personally, I converted to belt drive a year and a half ago, but I think they still worth a mention to the Hub motor crowd. 😊
@@DanielKwan Yes they are, just like "Star Trek: The Animated Series" is. 😉 My heart is still with hub motors for their simplicity, especially after I snap a belt, but I admit I like the wheel selection (currently running Meepo 105s-which are really 102mm brand new 🤨).
@danielkwan good to be hearing from you! What would you recommend on a flex pro 1st edition? I have 100mm hydro storebought, but have to change after a year of riding.
@@DanielKwan yeah I think it's between the normal discoveries and the fe's for me. The normal ones seem nicer for the crappy roads but the fe's seem like they'd be nicer for grip.
Love your videos. You have the most comprehensive information and useful notes. Been hunting an AT board and narrowing it down. Would love your input and the community since this will be my first board. I am planning on sailing the world and need something to ride around islands when able to. Looking for good range and torque. Looking at a few boards. Atlas pro 4wd, Meepo Hurricane ultra, ect. Money isn't much of an issue but trying to stay under $2.5k. I am 205lbs. Ideas?
New 120 could replace my 105 from meepo voyager kit and add some feeling of pneumatic wheels? Do you know any brand that makes pneumatic that will fit Voyager by Meepo?
so im new to electric skateboard and im thinking of buying a replacement wheel for my board as a back up for when they do break. i have my eyes on galaxy but i dont know if it will fit on my backfire G2 black. thats kinda been my problem, im afraid to buy a wheel only to find out they are not compatible with my board.
What about a cloudwheel discovery fe 120mm review? Would like to know how they compare to the old 120. Really need to know if the FE 120mm keep traction on rough roads. Peace
Ohhhh! Snap, I didn't expect that I needed the Rover 165R. I need that wheel with 10mm bearings, not the usual 8mm bearings generally set in use by conventional skateboard designed truck. See, with the wider bearing, it's not actually achieving anything for the wheel, but it will however put my StreetCarver from off the porch and back into some pretentious cruises about my local college campus... This video was fresh in my mind and there's no way I wanted to overlook that smal3elsl brief mention about the 165R Rovers. Turns out, I would have a BMW skateboard worth actually riding with those wheels, 😅 albeit the current tech still doesn't have Hoverboards by Matel™ and my Carver nearly qualifies as a unique functional novelty collectable from 2003. Anyway, yes, I certainly need those wheels.... Why not? On a minor note of disclosure, I don't even like CloudWheels, nor do I really have any reason to hate the, so that just throws that prospect into pointlessness.... But I mean, aren't you going to definitely want to put those fly rims on your car? Well, my board is made by a car company, but it's not a Lexus. (*Cringe*)
I have a backfire zealot s and just moved to a place where there is a lot of cobbleone and gravel roads. I still want to ride it, but it’s really rough on stock wheels. Which wheels should I get?
Hey Daniel, I have a question about wheel sizes. Is there a max size I can use on a shortboard/mini? eg. I have a Wowgo Mini 2s and have tried the 105mm Cloudwheel Discovery's and also currently using the 105mm Mad Wheelz V2's... I have heard people warn of "wheel bite", but I have yet to experience this. Is it possible to use a 120mm on a mini? I'm tempted to try the Cloudwheel Discovery FE's... I really like the grip of the Mad Wheelz, but I miss that little extra comfort of the Cloudwheels.... I'm wondering if the Discovery FE's would be a nice middle ground?
I wouldn’t use 120mm on a shortboard. Will definitely get wheelbite unless you do something to add more height. You felt the original Cloudwheels were more comfortable than Mad Wheelz? I thought it was the other way around. Maybe depends on type of terrain.
@@DanielKwan yeah slightly more comfortable... I guess because of the rounded contact patch? I assume I'm getting less impact from the bumps and cracks on certain paths (at the cost of grip of course)... However on roads they're probably pretty similar in terms of comfort. I dunno... It's been a while since I swapped from the Cloudwheels to Mad Wheelz - I should swap back just to see Though I did just watch ESK8UNITY's new video on the Discovery FE's and he was saying the Mad Wheelz felt more comfortable (on the 105's at least)... So I'm thinking it might be an unnecessary purchase right now. Especially since I'm saving for a longboard later this year :)
Hello bro, thanks you for this amazing video !!! I want to ask you!!! Could you help me to choose the right rubber wheel for my wogwo skateboard plz!! I'll appreciate it so much if you are able to give me orientation about!!! It is my first electric skateboard, and I feel too much pain in my knee 😫 with the actual wheel 🛞 Thank you so much, bro !!!
Boosted 105's clones really don't provide more comfort. I think the Cloud wheels discovery (original style) are better at handeling ruffer asphalt roads. Boosted 105's indeed vibrate a bit at lower speeds and aren't as comfortable on ruff asphalt as those cloudwheels. But on smooth asphalt they offer awesome grip and ride feel! But free roll will suffer though. I prefer 105's still myself. But even more normal urethane wheels 😁🤙
@@Dutch800 if you drive on super smooth road at slower speeds then they do. I have 2 different clones and they both do it. But it's not a real nuance to me
Why make a review if every other word out of your mouth is "i don't know", come on. If you haven't used the wheels don't review them.... pretty simple.

Why are ESK8 wheels so expensive man?
Super niche hobby
4 massive chunks of petroleum based materials. Plus cloudwheels are 30-50 dollars more than most wheels I own.
Very informative video thank you mate
I wonder if the 105mm cloud wheel FE’s will have wheel bite on the Exway wave. The flat surface really makes it look square.
I love you're channel I have every board
Cheers Dan!!
@danielkwan good to be hearing from you! What would you recommend on a flex pro 1st edition? I have 100mm hydro storebought, but have to change after a year of riding.
You looking for better durability? Among these I’d just go with Discovery FE. Exway’s stock 85-90mm are really durable as well.
Think the rover 110mms would fit an exway wave? Worried about wheelbite but I think I'd prefer them over the discoveries.
For me I think 105 would be my limit because that can already get wheelbite on Wave if leaning hard enough, but I haven’t tried 110 Rovers on Wave.
