When I started RC'ing in the late 1970s, the barrier to entry was a $300 kit ($2,000 in 2019 dollars) plus a $400 Kraft FM 4-channel ($2,500) plus 4-6 months of build time.
That was horribly expensive with noisy smelly caracterial engines and flying fields far away. So I gave up. Now I'm back with this funny little thing that I can fly in my living room. That flies very well outdoors -no wind- in a 30 feet radius with little noise in the park or in a calm street.
I starting with fpv quadcopters about 10 years ago and just seeing how far the technology has come from just a few years before I started is completely wild, and it's evolving again from analog to digital right before my eyes.
I have a hubsan x4, and I am looking to find other small items like it. So am glad you all feature these types of things along with more advanced ones for the future of my journey in RC.
I couldn’t agree more with this very fair review. Very cheap entry into a really fun hobby, with all the feel of something bigger or more expensive. I still fool around with mine in the house years later.
I love this little guy.....so exciting as a beginner. it is still fun to fly inside or on a calm day outdoors. Good review and instruction in this video.
I recently got an Inductrix FPV+. I love how adorable it is with the small camera that looks big because the quad itself is tiny. I almost got the quad/hovercraft version of the Inductrix.
Just came in. I love it. It's a micro VTOL, and I've got experience flying drones, planes, and helis, but I've always been afraid of doing a VTOL. Seen too many crashes. This is a micro VTOL and I love flying it around the house. Now I just the LEDs for the wing, and the Hovercraft parts and I'm set. Next for the Inductrix is probably a blimp or a parasail. Can't wait for that add on. 😉 Imagine a parasail on light breezy days with a drone? Would be cool.
I bought the BNF so I would have something to fly indoors in bad weather. Couldn't be happier. Flies really well indoors. It will pivot, fly backwards and flies well like a wing. It will fly outdoors, if there's no wind. A small breeze will send it flipping. BUT you can really wind it out and fly fast outdoors. I will not likely use it in quad mode as I have an Inductrix Pro. BUT I will get the foam skirt for the hover craft mode. Don't expect this to do more than its' designed to do, so all you experts out there, don't knock it. It is a fun indoor flier. Highly recommend it.
The Nano QX is just a fun little quad if you are new or experienced in the hobby. I still fly mine around the house once in a while. I've been thinking about an Inductrix for a while now...Looks like I'll be getting one soon.
Subbed, I’m also subbed to your other channel. Been flying RC for about the last 15+ years. Always been Electric never gas or Nitro. You guys do a great job supporting the Hobby!
Nice review. I got mine the other day. It's a lot more fun than I thought it'd be. It's good for the price and something you can zip around the living room for a while.
A lot of people have been thinking that the wing makes lift. in reality it doesn't improve the efficiency of the quad. I made a video about it. i applaud you guys for saying it like it is: cool, unique but not a technical breakthrough.
GAproductions What TX do you have? I've got a DX6, and the instructions are clear and simple. The only thing it doesn't tell you is that the I button is essentially an on/off for an idle state.
hey guys, just heard a difference between your vid and the one of Blade. Looks like you can controll the rudder in Airplanemode. Try the stickmove up and in, i think this is what you need ;)
That little thing looks fun! My first quad was an inductrix. Ah, those were the days of inexpensive crashes... Future product review request: TBS Unify EVO.
Where can I get the plans for that B-25 cuz I've always been hesitant about building but if there are plans and a kit for that, that'll literally for sure without a doubt be my first build
There are several foamboard aircraft strategically positioned in the background that are not current models with either free plans or speed build kits available (yet). I think Jeremy is up to something.
You guys should try the hovercraft version too...and the wing the air comes with is insanely durable I’ve hit my fan a ton while it’s going and only got dents and one tiny crack but good job on the vid!!
I still pull out the old nano qx to fly around line of sight sometimes. That was a fun quad for its time. This switch air looks fun. Does it have an acro mode?
hey love yalls vids was wondering why u guys dont do the custom builds anymore i wanted to buy that long range quad that TJ build wanted a vid where he said he makes them thanks
You guys need to make some micro Airframe kits that look better than that wing to work with that switch. I made a 25% scale sea duck out of foam takeout boxes and a mini quad. Check it out on the forum : Sea Duck Whoop Style- Move your CG back from where a normal airplane would be or the rear rotors will make it nose down hard
can you make a video how you are doing al the basic electronics in simple planes for people they are new and they wil make a plane with the basic things (esc motor servos receiver battery) for the Flite Test Mighty Mini Tiny Trainer preferably. because I am going to make that plane I am going to in this hobby
I got four channel flight with my Jumper T12 moving the sticks out to wing mode ( both up and out, white light ) and arming with an input on ch6. Guess I need to set those modes on a three way? :D
In the manual it states to point the stick in another direction and hold for 3 seconds and it goes I to drone mode. You can also purchase separately the hover parts and stick the sticks in the 3rd or 4th direction and hold and it becomes a hovercraft.
right on, horizon speak for ch5 is 'gear'. I meant three channel stabilized, four channel, four channel agility? anyway I took a guess on Channel five. 100% input from a three position is three channel stabilized, 0% seems to be four channel extra peppy and -100 worked out to four channel milder behaved in my case. I wanted the weights from Horizon but they don't go in for that sort of support for the Jumper radios :D
The switching from quad to airplane is easy so I'm guessing hovercraft will work too, I don't have the foam skirt, waiting for FT to restock their speed build.
@@perldog07 I tested the Hovercraft mode without the skirts. It flops over, but it does work! I too just need to orser the skirts! I downloaded the rtf manual for the Inductrix switch hovercraft and it stated the sticking the sticks in certain positions for hovercraft mode. So I wrote them in my AIR manual and tested them. Easy as pie. Actually baking a pie is harder. 👍
i have to replace the battery connector on mine. very fiddly and only works with one battery I had, the one it came with won't even connect. :( But it's cool to fly.
Seems preety sweet. . I'm building an ft explorer and so far it looks awesome . Could you do a cha langue of landing planes or drones on bigger planes :).
hello to the galls and guys of flitetest. its been a while since yall did a edf jet review. try the new E-Flite F-4 Phantom 80mm or the E-Flite F-16 70mm edf jet
Super size this to be useful outdoors and I would buy in an instant! But I need it to be able to use wing to fly to target, then switch to hover drone like for surveillance. I don't care for the negative attention drones get, but airplanes don't attract much negative attention!
*Unique Flying Object.* Is it a plane, yes, but it's also a quad too. Now, how cool is that? IMO, very...lol Has flight test done any testing on the Parrot Swing? That's another interesting cross-over quad/plane that you might like to look at, assuming you haven't already.
That looks cool for sure, not for me though..You guys should take Kraken and build a full scale version of the switch with a Racequad, that would be funny to watch
it will, with a lot of rudder, the side to side tilt ability without an aileron on a wing is a bit anemic, but if your used to flying a 4 channel and mixing your left and right stick in a corner it will rock for ya
Is the FT Tech channel going to be the “FT Infomercial” channel? I love their videos but I’m anticipating some conflicts of interest here. How can we know they’re being straight with us?
IN reality: up and in also gives you hovercraft mode, yellow light beginner & expert modes down and out quad mode blue light beginner mode red light expert mode up and out airplane mode white light beginner mode 3 channel expert is four Left stick presses in to arm motors, after arming right stick toggles expert/beginner Ginger here is an expert and don't need to read no owners manual. Also, if since we know he has flown a basic inductrix model there ain't no way no how this one flies as nice in quad mode. It has more going on in the airframe and the flight control. The simpler basic blade inductrix 8780 is much more precise. Still not the worst thing for a beginner.
Wow that's actually quite a revolutionary design in my opinion. That should give you 10 times the "gas mileage" of a normal quadcopter yet still have quadcopter capabilities. I'm sure it won't be able to hold very steady in a breeze when trying to hover though
I actually bought it. Love it. I've always wanted to do a VTOL, but am extremely afraid of price and crashing. I've flown drones, helis and planes so I do have experience, but I got it for the VTOL experience. I actually do love it. Micro VTOL for the living room.

How about a flight test version of this. Maybe make it big?
amazing episode idea!
Thank you thank you for adding back in the old school FT music. The videos have that FT feel to em again!
I love this little guy.....so exciting as a beginner. it is still fun to fly inside or on a calm day outdoors. Good review and instruction in this video.

Is that b25 Mitchell behind you a kit we could buy??? (Cause i totally would buy it)
Yeah I thought that too but The wings look different
Is that a FT Mitchell bomber and stuka divebomber in the background ?
I bought the BNF so I would have something to fly indoors in bad weather. Couldn't be happier. Flies really well indoors. It will pivot, fly backwards and flies well like a wing. There are 2 airplane flight modes. 1 puts the rudder and aeilerons on the right stick. The second airplane mode is like a traditional 4 channel plane.
YES. mode 2 is the only way I enjoyed flying this. VERY fun to fly indoors in small space with that rudder control!
How was it possible I wasn’t already subscribed? Fixed that problem.
FT Challenge? Scale it up! You have a 3d printer, give us a one meter quad wing? EPIC
what the radio range ?
The Nano QX is just a fun little quad if you are new or experienced in the hobby. I still fly mine around the house once in a while. I've been thinking about an Inductrix for a while now...Looks like I'll be getting one soon.
Please make the build guide for the ft gremlin v2
Could you please make a video about motorizing the plane in the background At 4:16 ?
I picked up the switch with the hover option, I have fun in both modes. It was on sale at my LHS for $40.
Please give something on budget radios.
Subbed, I’m also subbed to your other channel. Been flying RC for about the last 15+ years. Always been Electric never gas or Nitro. You guys do a great job supporting the Hobby!
Sweet, I just pulled mine out of the office. Needed new batteries so I picked some up. Time to start playing! 😉
Nice review. I got mine the other day. It's a lot more fun than I thought it'd be. It's good for the price and something you can zip around the living room for a while.
Very clever, it's a boat, glider and quad. That's brilliant, I might get one of these.
Why is it not in stock yet????
can I put a fpv camera on it?
Can my Inductrix switch air use a 2 cell battery without burning out the board or motors?
Probably not buddy
Unfortunately they don't make this anymore but I got one and the air wing for it and it's so much fun!
Ok I saw one of these at my LHS. 60 bucks is doable. Very cool, THANK YOU for the info.
Gonna put fpv on it any time soon???
Wow. What a fantastic VOTL-like concept! Hmmmm what can I do with this.....🤔
@jacob james this would not be intuitive, but brushless systems of this size are actually lighter and much much much more powerful.
Perfect for my Backyard!
Horizon Hobby always surprise me... good that I still got my DX6i ready to go.
Great product! I certainly recommend it!
A lot of people have been thinking that the wing makes lift. in reality it doesn't improve the efficiency of the quad. I made a video about it. i applaud you guys for saying it like it is: cool, unique but not a technical breakthrough.
There are many military drones today that actually are flying on the wing and landing as a quad.
but does the bnf have an option for a FrSky receiver? then its REAL VALUE.
Can you do a video on how it is setup on a hobby grade tx?
GAproductions What TX do you have? I've got a DX6, and the instructions are clear and simple. The only thing it doesn't tell you is that the I button is essentially an on/off for an idle state.
hey guys, just heard a difference between your vid and the one of Blade. Looks like you can controll the rudder in Airplanemode. Try the stickmove up and in, i think this is what you need ;)
Looks pretty cool but the wing looks fragile. Is it sold separately?
I understand this item is discontinued?
Sorry ... off the subject but where can I get information on Flite Fest 2019?
Out of curiosity,do you guys still have the f4f wildcat from the first ever flight test video?
That little thing looks fun! My first quad was an inductrix. Ah, those were the days of inexpensive crashes...
Future product review request: TBS Unify EVO.
Do they have replaceable wings available or would it be just as easy to make one from DTFB?
They have replacement wings available directly. They also have the hovercraft attachment available if you buy this model.
Where can I get the plans for that B-25 cuz I've always been hesitant about building but if there are plans and a kit for that, that'll literally for sure without a doubt be my first build
FPV version?
Is there a B-25 in our future?
Are you guys at flight test going to review the blade rtf inductrix fpv HD ?? I bought one from FT at 85% off Black Friday
Pretty interesting product indeed! 😊
There are several foamboard aircraft strategically positioned in the background that are not current models with either free plans or speed build kits available (yet). I think Jeremy is up to something.
Such an oldschool video
You guys should try the hovercraft version too...and the wing the air comes with is insanely durable I’ve hit my fan a ton while it’s going and only got dents and one tiny crack but good job on the vid!!
Slasher Death92 I bought my Switch Air for £50ish, and the two spare parts to make the hovercraft separately. Total fun!
Can you make one of these?
You need to build a f-82 twin boon and fuselage mustang with bushwhacker tires
I still pull out the old nano qx to fly around line of sight sometimes. That was a fun quad for its time. This switch air looks fun. Does it have an acro mode?
Probably. All the other Inductrix quads had it.
Do a vid on the foam board b-25 in the background
So... when are we going to see this b-25?
What's the noise level of those micro quads? I get migraines super easy so I don't want something that's gonna be screaming.
Indutrix kwads are quite quiet
hey love yalls vids was wondering why u guys dont do the custom builds anymore i wanted to buy that long range quad that TJ build wanted a vid where he said he makes them thanks
great review , thank you!!
i saw this at the ama expo 2019 in new jersey at the horizon hobby both.

Anyone else see the plane behind Alex in the beginning that’s looks like a mix between an A-10, a P-47, and a Corsair?
I was wondering about that too
Seems preety sweet.
.
I'm building an ft explorer and so far it looks awesome .
Could you do a cha langue of landing planes or drones on bigger planes :).
Is that a mini B-25!!! And a B-17 at 7:25?!!
Why is there a paramotor in the background???
hello to the galls and guys of flitetest. its been a while since yall did a edf jet review. try the new E-Flite F-4 Phantom 80mm or the E-Flite F-16 70mm edf jet

I'd love some begginer FPV version of that idea.
What's that little foam board b-25 I see back there?😆
Hm, for that money you can get a uruav or us65, but this has brushed motors, not cheap, although this planedrone do look fun to play inside
There's 3 quad modes. STability, horizon, and acro.
Great Video! FT B-25?
Nice hair Alex!
I think I saw briefly a foamboard F-14 sitting on the desk!
Great vid guys! I’m begging for an axis FT warbirds guys!
Years ago we almost had a Shinden...but it never got off the ground.
That looks cool for sure, not for me though..You guys should take Kraken and build a full scale version of the switch with a Racequad, that would be funny to watch
Neat vid i will be getting one of these
Why do you guys leave us in suspense with all the planes you leave behind you in your videos?
A&A Rc ?
They need to sell the quad with the two bodies for hover craft and wing
I'm likin' that b 25 in the background
Your Control Setup made my Brain Break! lol. Total reverse for me.
Pretty nice. It would of been neat to see if the Switch could of flown in “airplane” mode without the wings.
it will, with a lot of rudder, the side to side tilt ability without an aileron on a wing is a bit anemic, but if your used to flying a 4 channel and mixing your left and right stick in a corner it will rock for ya
Is the FT Tech channel going to be the “FT Infomercial” channel? I love their videos but I’m anticipating some conflicts of interest here. How can we know they’re being straight with us?
Is that a new twin-engine plane hanging on the wall in the background?
This is cool
How about a DIY wing with Gremlin mechanics? and a similar setup.... thats a challenge...
It’s a sick little bugger
When this came out at my hobby town near me I baught it the day they got it. Lol sorry I misspelled some words
IN reality: up and in also gives you hovercraft mode, yellow light beginner & expert modes
down and out quad mode blue light beginner mode red light expert mode
up and out airplane mode white light beginner mode 3 channel expert is four
Left stick presses in to arm motors, after arming right stick toggles expert/beginner

The simpler basic blade inductrix 8780 is much more precise. Still not the worst thing for a beginner.
Hi can you make Gremlin version of it?
I bought one last week, cracked the wing and fixed with scotch tape.
He forgot about down and in for hovercraft mode. Yes purchase the hovercraft base and it becomes a hovercraft.
Just saw the commercial before seeing this
круто. надо такой же сделать)
I ask you guys a make something like this I also ask you to make a drone fly like a plane
Wow that's actually quite a revolutionary design in my opinion. That should give you 10 times the "gas mileage" of a normal quadcopter yet still have quadcopter capabilities. I'm sure it won't be able to hold very steady in a breeze when trying to hover though

Not much different
I actually bought it. Love it. I've always wanted to do a VTOL, but am extremely afraid of price and crashing. I've flown drones, helis and planes so I do have experience, but I got it for the VTOL experience. I actually do love it. Micro VTOL for the living room.
I thought so to, but I'm getting just over 5 min on a 250 mah battery- great fun though!
