FindmeKicksUK they gotta keep the doors open some how.
FliteTest ppeople pppppppppppppppppppp
Been flying for a year. Yes I'm still an ultra newbie. Your vids are soooo useful to all of us just beginning, and us that have been crashing for a while ;)
Mahrik
I have this exact plane, it flies so easy and wonderful. Horizon Hobbies and E-flite are one of the best RC companies and publishers ever. Awesome part-support, service and products, most of my planes and heli's are from them. The P51-D, the Blade mCPx, the Supercub LP etc.....all great products.
Never stop, brothers.
what plane is it
Love these videos, even 6 years later!
Love these videos, even 9 years later!
This is actually one of the most useful videos I've seen for beginners learning how to fly. A great series as a whole...
You guys make these you tube clips worth watching great instructions and explaining on all the importance of begainning a flight thats great guys keep up with the great work and I really enjoy watching your tutorials
thanks guys that was great, I've always wonted to fly model aircraft since I was a kid, now im 74 years old so im going to give it a go, with your help, thanks again
A fantastic, informative and fun introduction to RC flying. I'm really looking forward to watching the others in this series.
This was the BEST video for getting me into the air safely and making multiple take offs and landing. No crashes, no issues, just fun! THANK YOU GUYS!
This has been such a valuable series to me! Very well done and great topics. This video helped me tremendously, as I had been having all kinds of problems learning to fly. Your practice exercises were exactly what I needed, I've gone through 4 1C batteries just doing the take off and landing practice. I'm now up to making some turns and not smashing my plane into a million pieces! Really happy with my incremental progress! Thanks guys!!
These are the best training videos ever made, l gave away all my gas planes 20+ years ago when l moved but want to get back into the Hobby without all the mess and expense. This is a new beginning for me and you guys are funny as ever, great group of people to be around.
So two days ago I bought an RC helicopter from a local radio shack out of an impulse buy while messing with it I was watching videos on others which led me to your guys's channel and I wanted to let you all know that your videos are awesome! Really have me interested in R/C flying hobby and I am really looking forward to advancing. I really want to do FPV flying! Anyway I just wanted to let you all know how much of an awesome job you all do and you just made a huge fan with in two days out of an impulse buyer, haha and hopefully soon an FPV flyer like yourselves. Again thank you all for your videos, keep it up!
Nice beginner series! I'm not a beginner any more but do enjoy these vids. I also like how Josh holds his thumb on the throttle as a safety meassure. I do that as well, all the time when a battery is connected but I do not want to fly. That is a really good habit to have.
LABELING!!! My last super cub blew away this past spring, and I'm pretty sure I would still have it had I labelled it. So simple, yet so crucial... Thanks guys!
Love the Beginner Series. Finally, someone is showing us from the beginning. I don't mind the sunglasses. It's not demeaning but necessary for good eye health.
Just got a couple minutes of flying in today and I was scared to launch by hand it was surprisingly easy. thank you for getting me into the hobby I plan to make a 2 channel Catalina and someday hope to come down to flite fest atleast once.
~mike
This helped ALOT with my C17 especially when landing I had trouble few rounds but did it the third! It’s just on hard surfaces the wheels get damaged but it works perfectly 10/10 (note:I fixed the wheels to a type that won’t get damaged on landing)
Excellent CG explanation!! The planes pivot point, thank you!
Love the video of the sticks!!
Great series. Please place mentioned links "below", below.
Still looking for the glide slope one!!!
Really enjoy your vids. Keep up the great work!
thanks guys. i am new to rc flying and your videos have helped me alot
Thanks a lot for ALL your videos!
And thanks again, they are extremely helpfull to me as a beginner rc airplane pilot.
Keep up the good works, as the saying goes!
Greetings from Antwerp, Belgium
These videos are extremely helpful. I dont have my own plane yet but ill be getting one soon. I have learned alot from these videos.
Oskar Lund do you have your plane yet?
redstone craft guy yeah. I've got a few actually. Problem is all of them are belly landers so when I put gears on my spitfire it turned out that I am terrible at landing.
I'm gonna get the carbon cub S I think in a month when I get taxes sooo I'm researching planes and info till then
Thanks guys I really appreciate the videos. I've flown helis but you really have great starter tips to cross over
Also, I really appreciate the video series for helping me get back in the air!
hey guys this series is amazing! keep em coming! :)
U Speak on my level I UNDERSTAND if I can learn from your video's U have accomplished something every teacher I ever have had lost sleep over or should have
Thanks Charlie
I flew my first EDF in windy weather and miracoulously managed to not crash, i learnt alot from watching you guys :)
You guys inspired me even in corona time I got myself horizon hobbies rtf S+ carbon cub and I’m really happy
Dragonstudios So did I!
Ye It’s awesome
I started out a couple years ago with a guy that was way farther into this hobby than I was. I ended up spending a bunch of money and the fun went out. I just got back into it and have splurged on a spektrum dx6. I bought two radian gliders a big one and a small one. I'm looking forward to some nice slow flights and lots of fun. Maybe one day a sweet Stryker but slow for now. Great videos
furthermore, you are a real dude and a good teacher and pilot....impressive.
Thank you so much. All the information you provided was information I needed
to know. This is my first year of RC 😅
Josh & Josh ; Really good Video on Take Offs & Landings ! Thanks for the Video
YEAH! 100k Congrats guys, you deserve it!
Thank you Sharing this knowledge I am a beginner just got the super cub S so I am learning through your videos, I will be watching for more
Nice boys. I have Josh`s namesake ready to roll once the wind die`s down.
Thanks for the tips.
Would it be a good idea to put a air tag inside your plane to find it when you loose it?
I love this series and love this channel if i had this when i got into the hobby i wouldn't have killed half my planes.I was wondering though if in the future say after you finished with beginner planes you might do a Quad/tricopter series like this i have wanted to get started flying quads for a bit now and it's a little confusing the motors, props weights even flight patterns as different copters fly different ways. it would be awesome if you would do a series just like this for beginner copter enthusiasts.
JackDaniels2535 I have Flown Quadcopters for 2 years. It very easy if you have lots of RC Plane experience. One fruit of advice when setting it up. Do not reset your flight board. It will wipe it and you will have to get a new one. I learned that the hard way, thankfully the person I bought the parts and drone off of knew it might happen and had spare for one for me. I use Cleanflight for the program
Looove this series as I am determining what beginner plane I want I've never flown probably gonna get the carbon cub S or a EDF f16 BNF with a spektrum dx8 I've never flown but did race and tinker with RC cars 15yrs ago or so but new to planes but I'm gonna go ahead and buy a good transmitter I can get comfortable with and grow into like the dx8 and be able to bind it to future planes
excellent job guys I got into this hobby over 55 years ago and nobody there by my side telling me what to do it was fly it or crash it. Most was the last at the beginning. Have many years of. Try building a balsa kit the hobby becomes even better. Nothing better to clear the mind. Have fun
I definitively like this beginner series. I'm searching for a new hobby. Gaming and sitting at a PC makes me dull. This series is perfect for me. Even though I don't know yet if I like to build and fly RC-planes or quadcopters, some categories (as R/C) are similar. I think I'll watch the whole series and begin to build a foam-model with my son over the winter.
I'm from germany and it's sad that I can't find such a detailed guide in german. But to understand you is no problem once one understands the R/C - specific words (german words in brackets):
- aileron (Quer-Ruder)
- elevator (Höhen-Ruder)
- rudder (Seiten-Ruder)
- BEC
etc
tubelitrax THATS MY SAME PROBLEM!!
Except I'm not German but yah
awesome video thanks for the much needed info, you guys are the best :)
Clear, helpful, repetition helps drill it in my thick head. Thank you.
I learned to fly the cub years ago.to get this lovely plan to take off from grass all I did was put slightly bigger wheels on it and adjust the cg .
Awesome advice. 70% of what you're talking about I had NO IDEA. will next time. Not having that idea cost me m first plane ... simply flying away ... So now I taxi down the hall at home and back towards me. Reverse navigation is not easy if you've never even though about it.
This series is a must for any noobs like me ... before we kill off planes. That's just no fun at all.
You guys kick ass; I've learned to fly so much faster by not making a lot of noob mistakes in the beginning.
I don't know if it's just a coincidence or that great minds think alike, but I sent in a suggestion last week hoping you would include split screen elements in a video. I got to say, this turned out brilliantly, even better than I imagined. Now I'd love to see one on aerobatics as I mentioned. Kudos!
Im real into this, lve fell in love the RCs
Perfect preparation Bro, good job
I just yesterday crashed a cessna 182.
I was flying then the wings just popped off. I saw a video that they did that but i bought it anyways thinking meh what are the chances.
Next thing you know its crashing down with no wings to solid cement.
Canadian_Wolf 83 rip
This is a great video, and novices should take note it could save them time and money.
My first plane had a bad life...
I tried a loop on my first flight
RIP
He was on the graund but he’s now forever in the skys
My first one did a flip by its self
Mine flyed autonomus, it makes a circulus and landed automatic LoL, the conectors to de Elevator and the Ailerons are loose xD
Lego Plane Crashes rip
rest in pieces rip
my fav...🤘part is flying but you fly in the end👀anyway some tips i have learn today thanku bro...😀
Hey, guys your really awesome and i was wondering if you could do a review of the hubsan x4 v2 and maybe even an FPV conversion for that.
Great episode!
it shows that you're used to 4 channel planes.. watching your left thumb attempt to work the rudder.. lol. Great video. You guys rock! now after watching a few more, I'll go back to building my baby blender...
I know this video shows a buddy launching the plane, but if you hand launch your own plane, and as a right-handed flier, I found it’s a good habit to hand launch with my left hand, while keeping control of the transmitter’s right stick - elevator. I end up with much smoother launches than throwing the plane into the air, and then reaching down to find the stick while watching the plane.
thanks for the training guys
Great video! Thanks
GREAT idea to put my name on it!!! Thank you!
Hahahahaha Josh is ghost sticking. He is using the rudder on the transmitter when it's not there.
hahaha... I saw that too. I do it also when I'm buddy cabling people up to my FT Flyer. Rudder is on Aileron channel. :)
As an addition to my previous post. Maybe it's a nice idea to have a video about "on the field safety, around and on the airstrip" where things such as thumb on throttle are adressed?
Josh + Josh = awesome !
LOL 3:58 "who said that, King Solomon?"
Yea that was funny lol
lol
Paused the video for about a minute 'cos I couldn't stop laughin'
I like when the shorty Josh is in the video. He's an enjoyable clown. Keep the laughs coming, and the training videos.
Oh god I was waitting for my fix!
I really respect what you guyz stand for!!
I have small problem with video. Someone just like you told me to start with a 3 channel plane and put the rudder on the right. I am self taught. When I finally got with a person to help me, he pointed out that the rudder on the right stick was developing a very bad habit. Since first impressions are the most important and imprinting, I have messed my self up.. Now that I am more experienced I have to force myself to use the rudder on the left stick. BAD. I really wish I had started from day one that way. Now it is soo difficult to use the rudder especially when landing in a cross wind.. My opinion
It depends on the mode your are using... Use what works best for you. These guys use channel 2...
Modus Operandi - I fly mode1 throttle and ailerons r/h side elevator rudder on the left. I can fly mode 2, thoughtfully not automatic like mode one.
I learnt to fly arse about face - aileron and elevator (primary controls) on the left and throttle rudder on the right(mode1 transmitter with arse about controls) - reason being the guy that taught me to fly was a full size aviator, made sense to him.
I prefer mode 1 - from the thousands of hours flying slope soarers with two channel two stick radios - pre pistol grip car radios.
Yeah, it's a really bad habit. I started with a 3 channel heli, then moved up to a 4 channel quad... I kept on using the right stick for rudder, and it did aileron moves... Now though, I can fly with rudder in both places, because I had to get used to it...
***** You know what I mean
Thanks for the reply
You guys make me laugh! Thanks for a another great vid :)
Great vid guys. thanks
the first time I flew a RC plane was when I was 7-8ish, it was a glow and I was buddy boxed up... did a few turns that was it. then I got a 3 channel nine eagle sky runner and just throw it... flew well considering the weather... although all my landings were cashes in a sense...
good video guys, helps a lot.
Hell I'd say 90% of RC flight is understanding the electronics, transmitor, batter, charger, binding......etc etc.......
Sort of a bummer. Good pilots have natural skills eye to hand. I think part of you two might agree.
Agaiin , solid video to help us out.
I am new to rc flying. I understand that you need to constantly adjust the aileron and rudder controls as the plane takes off to maintain stability.
just getting into flying this video is priceless guys make great content now I got a lot of catching up to do on learning j want to get the hubu sts 70mm with safe any ideas if I should get something else
Thanks. Very useful.
Josh B, it almost sounds like your talking about para motors here. lol :) I know it's old, but I am digging in a little to find out about planes. Flying quads now.
I just bought the big idol from hobbyking. im new to this and like your vids. will try and send pics of build
i love this hobby!/your vids!!!
when your range testing and have a friend to help, its better to get one walk out 30 paces with the plane hold it up and spin around slowly, its quicker and your friend can also tell you if it fails or not
I love you guys!!!!! :p
por favor! se que es mucho pedir, pero podrian poner la traduccion al español debajo en cada video!!! me seria de mucha ayuda!!!! mil gracias!!! hace mucho los veo!!!!
un abrazo gigante desde argentina!!!!!!
Thanks. Great info. !
I am also new trainer who has broke many planes and propeller but now I am little bit improving
Thanks guys!
You guys make my day every time you release a video...amazing content, none like it...minor issue I have, is that you guys did not mention safety which I think should come first. My first flights were no stressful and I almost injured someone...I also had no idea that I was flying in a kind of restricted airspace. Anyways, please cover this, we don't want anyone getting hurt ;)
Very nice video series so far. Do you guys have a video series for FPV ?
could you please test the hype dg 1001 because it is my first plane and im flying with it one year now so i want to know your opinion
:D
I like the way you said "We have to do a range test" in almost the same way as you would when your mom told you to tidy your room.
I was wondering if you guys could do a review and test of the hobby zone glasair sportsman. I am very enthusiastic about this plane, and I would enjoy a quality review from you! Thanks!
Flitetest, please make a video on how to pull apart XT-60 connectors, please, I bough some from Hobbyking and they just fuse together when I connect them.
+Julian Mackay As it's Your first plane, I'd suggest You start with FT Flyer.
It'd lasts longer before You need serious repairs to it, so You learn more flying.
There is a build video for it, they show some on connecting stuff. And I think they have a separate episode on electronics too.
The best way to learn how to fly RC planes is to go out to your local flying field and meet the pilots who have been flying for a long time. Talk to them and ask them questions. Im sure you will find many who will be more than happy to help you out and lead you the right direction and maybe some one has a buddy box there that will let you use to fly their plane and teach you a thing or two. DONT EVER EVER settle for the advice of the hobby shop unless you know him very well. if this is your passion, save up the money and buy the best radio you can afford, as for the plane, see if you can find a GOOD USED plane or if you just want a new one, build your first plane, believe me it will pay off down the road, especially if your going to crash and I am 100% sure you will, you will know how to rebuild it.
SN1350 I Bought the SE Biplane from the store. Saw the video looks like the Plane handles really well for a 3 channel. I have 2 years of Hobby drone experience and the worst thing I did was accidentally wiping the flight board data rendering it useless right on day one starting out. Is a Naze A380 controller a good one to start with? That’s what I use with the drones
SN1350 I
Will you guys go into how to connect remotes and so on. Not just what you do to connect most receivers to remotes but go into detail
I real wanna build one for myself and the question you asked its a good idea for me l wanna know as well!!
Very good tutorial
Now that was a great video, well done you guys! What landing gear featured scratch build model would you recommend as a 1st time trainer?
Will you guys eventually do a beginners video about FPV? I know you did one about general equipment and frequencies but I built the batbone and I'm gonna use it for FPV but I don't know what tx/rx you guys use for your tricopters. All the tx I've seen have been pretty large. If it matters I wanna try and use 5.8 GHz.
thanks guys. wish u good health
a question please,
if your transmitter batteries get weak
will your range decrease a little at a time as they get weaker
or
will the transmitter keep working to a certain point
and then cut out all at once ?
lw216316 cut all at once
Good job nice to have these videos for beginners
This is very helpful I'm sure
I know it's really hard to figure out what is just basics and what's more advanced but I feel like there's one major thing beginners need to know that was left out of this video. That thing is relying on throttle more than elevator when Landing until the very last moment. Using throttle to control rate of descent and keeping the aircraft mostly level. On a trainer it's more forgiving so you can chop your throttle and glide it in to land but as soon as you move past trainers you need to know how to land while carrying throttle.
Flite Test,
Could you please make s video about the best equipment for scratch building. i know what i need as far as motor, servos, esc, reciver, etc. I just dont know which one to buy since there is like a thousand different ones for everything.
Thanks for the help.
Then you are lucy I do not have those materials here, in Romania. :)
Olaru Mihai I am Romanian too, but I don't know any place where you can get these parts other than online or in a very specific hobby store. I have been to some hobby stores, and most of them had specific kits, not scratch building components... Everyone usually orders them online...
I could but thousands of motors and match that with two thousand props and proboly 200 different escs suckers america wins again!!
