My head canon for the sinking of the New Orleans class heavy cruiser is that the cruisers were stopped to pick up survivors and wait until it was evacuated and open its water tight doors.
Hey Wolfpack, I’m not sure if you know about this already but if you take the torpedo and bomb load out off the betties they have a range of over 700km so they’re really good for scouting. I bought this game recently and it’s really worked for me
Great gameplay man, you play more aggressive than most Japanese naval commanders in the Guadalcanal campaign, looks like captain Tameichi Hara's advice are paying off lol.

Also, I wonder if the game simulates towing of damaged ships like the New Orleans since it was so heavily damaged...

two of the many things they need to fix with this game, Enemy ships still moving around the map with Heavy or Critical damage.. and your planes deciding, after making a run on an enemy formation, to escape by reflying over said formation and being shredded by the AA fire..
In the initial submarine encounter you did not just surface the boat, you used the "emergency blow" function which completely blows the ballast.....this is meant to surface the boat in an emergency (if you have too much flooding to get to the surface otherwise), using it prevents you from diving again for the rest of the encounter!
@@mazchen the explanation was not just for him, as I know that he knows what emergency blow does to a boat....I meant the gameplay implications, the fact that you can’t dive again in this particular game for the rest of the encounter after blowing the ballast

Something I've found in my own IJN playthrough is that with a bit of practice manual fire is far, far more effective than otherwise. Your AI is just terrible at landing shots (the enemy AI, meanwhile..). It would drive anyone insane doing it for each ship, though, so I just pick the one with the most/biggest guns, take a few shots one gun at a time to 'zero' myself in and then have fun watching my shots actually hit something beyond 3km. Works especially well on stationary ships, as you might imagine. Something I can't say for the automatic aiming.
logs of task force 6 : after rearmament, with a few delays we were blessed with a new addition to The fleet our Admiral had somehow convinced high command to Give us a battleship kongo class and now we are heading back down to guatalcanal
In his book, Tameichi Hara (skipper of the destroyer Shigure and author of the IJN torpedo doctrine manual) said in real life, high command was too timid and kept all the big guns north at Truk. They left the slot to the destroyers and light cruisers. Maybe we could learn something from it.
The best chance that Kingfisher have to avoid Zeroes ! Is to hug the coastal line and jink like mad. And get down to a hundred feet - or less - so that the faster fighters will be severely limited in getting under the arc of fire. And coastal features can be fatal to the fanatical and the overconfident.
If they are going to force a cooldown for engagements, they could at least improve the Strategic/Tactical map placement and notify you which of your units/groups will be involved before the fight starts (and an estimate for other inbound friendly units)
Ah, the Kongou. A Japanese ship built in British shipyards just before world war 1. Although considered a Battleship, its better known as a fast Battleship or simply just Battlecruiser. In other words, i expect either flanking or straight charges with the Kongou. I'd prefer the high speed flanking, but its obviously more entertaining to throw a battleship in close quarters.
I was depth charging a Japanese sub, they decided to blow their ballast underneath my large cruiser that had no damage, it basically one shot my cruiser with this technique lol, meanwhile I watch their DD run smack through their hulls time and time again with zero damage. At the start of an encounter they fire torpedos almost instantly just keep ur eye on the original spot and move on over get ur stern over the subs bow and drop depths I suggest a 2 destroyer group for asw
Use 2 destroyers ,get bearing of both dd to origin of torpedo launch , 2 bearings will not only get you direction but also distance. Go flank close to spot but drop speed before you get there, first like near zero passive sonar should pick target up, keep following the target (8 knots) but don't try to depth charge with first dd just follow, depth charge with second, sub has no chance. You cheat with camera to find sub first few engagements : select camera on your closest dd middle click to underwater camera, zoom out a couple of mousewheels and use right click drag to go full 360 around, if nothing a few mousewheels again , not only look but listen and don't look deep but more below surface; notice bearing on screen so for ex. 50° of sub to you makes the sub is 230° of your dd. The camera thing shouldn't be necessary after a few kills, you will always get him with first paragraph method. If you go stern over bow like first respons says you will loose target and can't even fire except manually and unlikely get kill with first drop and have good chance of losing him.
