Great video Allen, great info from Elliot.. don’t see much content in gas fires... a lot of engineers hate them, suppose they take up so much time especially on LL SAFTEY INSPECTION... maybe so more videos on installing gas fires especially with your trainees

Elliot might want to go into teaching trainees , he has a great way of explaining stuff and by the way doing everything to the regs doesn’t make you sad , makes you professional imo.
I know if I was in Elliot or Allen’s areas I wouldn’t be using anyone else but them.

Now we're facing possible power cuts and hence the electric to the central heating pump, Just having a look to see what's involved in installing a gas fire, there seems a lot more to it than a boiler. Remember the old gas fires always had the flue left open so cold from the chimney was coming in as soon as you turned it off.
Thanks Elliott and Allen, great video with a shinning example of top workmanship. It surprises me that this type of appliance with their poor efficency figures are still made and are even permitted to be installed. Costly to run and environmentally poor.
What is the yellow tape used to protect the copper pipe? And..can you use self amalgamating tape?
Ive been offered a Baxi 746 'Steel snd Monaco' gas fire... but, I cannot find it on Google/RUclips... at all... any ideas Allen?

Can you use fire rope instead of foam seal
Always thought the Baxi fires were good as you had a door with glass and no drafts when not in use.
Can't that flue liner stay where it is?
Hi Roziur. That’s a really good question. When you install a new fire the liner has to be able to last the life of the new fire. Normally it’s advised to change a liner when you install a new fire. You would need to speak to the manufacturer and also check the regs to confirm though. Thanks.
