@@shannoncallehan9678 True! Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. The stock market has plenty of opportunities to earn which I myself took advantage of. I made my first million from going diverse, mainly ETFs(stocks, bonds etc), bitcoin , and gold. I'm also working on an investment plan that includes NFTs with my advisor, Katie . It's been a year and half of steady growth.

Spoke to Paula Pant several years back. She was offering her real estate mentoring on an incremental basis on some platform I can’t even remember. I just remember feeling so dejected. She came on a bit late and after I mentioned that I worked at a non-profit and didn’t make much money, she got off hastily a bit early. I felt like I was completely blown off. I don’t recall receiving any real advice for my time and money. I wish her the best and am glad she has found continued success. But, this is a reminder to be kind. Treat people with respect. Even if you can’t help them or don’t have good advice for their situation - say that without being dismissive. Everyone’s time and business is worth your respect.

She a true capitalist. "A non profit", is pretty much socialist. You're the opposite of eachother. The point is everyone have different approaches & mindsets. To a capitalist the very idea of a non profit might be disgusting. Just as the idea of captial accumulation without giving back is against the principles of a non profit service.

I understand there are many self-proclaimed gurus out there ... but I saw that she is a Knight-Bagehot Fellow at Columbia University for business and economics journalism, which would support her commitment to facts-based content marketing.

Since you're asking about her credentials, she has a masters degree in Business/economics Journalism from an Ivy League university, (Columbia). It's interesting that no one inquires about Graham Stephen or Dave Ramsey's credentials and neither have a college degree.
I lost my job back in Oct 2020. No crazy story making a crap load of money afterwards; however, I was able to start and grow a YT channel to just over 2K subs and found more meaningful work eventually. Lesson I learned: See your job lost as a blessing in disguise
There are so many unlicensed financial advisors/content creators these days. They can at least take the CFP (certified financial planner) exam before selling potentially detrimental advice. It is like going to a doctor or tax account who doesn't have an MD or CPA qualification.
Do you have the knowledge or not. Good financial knowledge gained by experience is actually better then someone who just passed an exam
Real estate and stock investor actually do the work for a living don't need no certification to teach

I have come to realize a lot in the past few years that there are lots of opportunities in the financial market. The only thing is to know where to invest.
The decision to invest is an acknowledgment that comes with certain risks. Not all investments will do well and some may lose money. However, without risk there would be no opportunity to potentially earn the higher returns that can help you grow your wealth.

whats so special being a financial guru ? never spend more than you earn , save 15% in a diversified low cost portfolio , stay healthy , keep good relationships and increase your earnings by growing your career
that's privileged information, actually. not everyone has access to that info, the internet or would even consider that their finances are something they have to manage. they will just put it in the bank or under the mattress.
SOUNDS easy but it is not for everyone
What happens when you become ill, get into debt as a result, someone drives into your car but gets away with it and you are left with a broken neck or collarbone? Working overtime, over stress, can't sleep, get high blood pressure then a stroke? Working overtime to not overspend, get heavily taxed, relationship fails and you have lost site of your financial management skills?
staying in shape is the same principal. Eat healthier foods, workout at least 3 times a week, dont drink soda, stretch, drink water... but people would rather spend $25 on apple cider vinegar pills and pay $250 gym memberships to never actually go to the gym. Everything sounds easier on paper than when applied.
Never give up. Once you give up completely then you’ll never be financially free

keep in mind that the opportunity cost for her is much lower...its harder for someone to leave a $90k or $100k salary to start a business because they are trading the salary + benefits (healthcare etc) in exchange. trading $23k salary is a much "easier" decision from that perspective in the sense that if it doesn't work out it's easier to jump back in to another job at this salary level. it's not as clear cut but something to keep in mind. I think there's a trend of people seeing this and jumping ship but this might not be for everyone. if you are burned out in your current role, starting a new business (which is arguably more prone to burnout) is not the solution
Starting a business isnt more prone to burnout because you work at your own pace and work for yourself vs a job u got people breathing down your neck

You're clearly far smarter than people who fool themselves into thinking starting your business is easy because "you're working at your own pace". These people don't realise the fundamental idea that a business is a transaction with the others in a market. The market sets the pace.

@@K-wx6ki I need to address your original comment as well. Opportunity cost is an interesting criteria. Let's say I'm out of college & I get a $100k offer, entrepreneurship with no prior experience & NO SAVINGS & student debt is a very high cost & risk decision. Difficult indeed.
But if someone's mid career, with $100k & been financially smart, you are in a much safer position & hence much "easier" for you to start a business than someone with $20k. They're struggling, have no savings, no safety to fall back on.
You seem define opportunity cost on wants and luxury rather than actual needs & struggle. Correct me if I'm wrong.
When can CBNC actually show someone who created something cool (like a product turned business, an interesting YT channel, maybe they publish their own books, etc.) rather than these woefully unqualified finance “gurus” who add more detriment than value to most of its customers

Then it changes to “you can afford anything within reason” 😂 imagine a counsellor or coach saying “I’ll help you to achieve your goal, then you pay them for months and they say “not THAT goal because that’s impossible. We don’t set people up to fail by selling promises that sound good.However, good luck to this woman for becoming wealthy and if people choose to buy her services and products, that’s their choice.

Well it's like saying anything is possible if you just work hard, and we all know not EVERYTHING is possible. I think she has a good point - you really do choose what you want to spend money on. Some people get expensive mortgages and cars, then complain when they can't afford to travel.
She teaches you how to save so you can invest and have what you wants without being in debt. I changed my perception about money because of her…and I have not paid a single cent. I just listen to her podcast when I’m washing dishes! Thanks to her I’m learning how to invest!!!

It's a risk. I see why her parents told her to go towards high income professions. Not many make it. The stats aren't in her favor. I'm glad she did and was able to tell the story.

Paula Pant's free podcast is great, I don't know what people are talking about lol. She isn't a guru scammer who hasn't actually done any of the things she says. I don't think real estate investing is ethical so I don't concern myself with that, and I still get a lot out of her interviews and advice episodes where she answers questions _with the help of a certified financial planner_
Paula Pant used old fashioned ways to make it. Saving money to travel, and then as she traveled starting her writing career, she accomplished two things at one time - her desire to travel, and her desire to start a new career in writing. She is beautiful, ambitious, and very smart. Thank you, Paula, for this wonderful RUclips, video of inspiration!

Many immigrants have backgrounds that include having rigid parents, not only “some” Asian backgrounds. Those backgrounds also include African and Caribbean too. Not all Asians coke from the same cultures either.

In my experience saying, “I can’t afford it” is what poor people say.

I am shocked at all the haters cropping up in these comments. Have you listened to her podcast? She has incredible guests on from the finance industry and astute interviews with various authors writing in the personal finance, business, and life planning genres. This is where her journalism background shines. In her Ask Paula episodes she approaches questions by explaining how to think through various options seldom giving a definitive answer, so that the caller needs to weigh the choices she helps lay out. She also is accompanied on these podcast episodes by a former financial planner. The podcasts are free for you to listen to, though of course there are sponsors. You don’t have to buy her course (I haven’t), but it is there for people who want more structured material and guidance.
I'm also surprised, I've been following her for years and honestly her podcast really influenced me to make better financial decisions.
