It rlly interesting seeing the evolution of linebackers from the bulky and stout Ray Lewis’s and Bobby Wagners to the more slim and rangey physiques like Leonard and Fred Warner. Even all these linebackers nowadays that used to play safety like Devin Lloyd who’s arguably the best linebacker of this draft
I’m a high school football player and I play wide receiver on offence and outside linebacker on defence. I played corner last year but this year I took the off season seriously and kept my weight but I’m WAY stronger now. Benching 235 lbs at 155 lbs at 17 and I’m 5’8. So yeah and me doing wrestling and track has helped me out a lot too. And I completely agree the scheme is changing but it’s good to have those big guys too
I was just telling my old teammate this and how we played LB’s during the wrong time (2013) we were both 5’11/6’0 ranging 195-210 and 10 years ago the top LB’s in the nation coming out of H.S. Were literally 6’1+ 220lbs+!
I played in a 3-4 most my life and was an ILB. I loved it and found it east because I had set assignments and gaps almost every play. Then in High School I went to a 4-3. I never understood how to play MLB in a 4-3 lol. You have to have great instincts and really be able to shed blocks to have any effect.
Nice video but it’s really basic. It’s more for people that never played before. Wish they would’ve explained the difference between 4-3 OLBs and 3-4 OLBs for the beginners.

I'm five foot five, 130 lbs. I know I don't have the size to be a linebacker, but I got the attitude. I got the aggressiveness, and I'm used to brawling with bigger dudes so I got that toughness. But the guys at my desired positon are are all 180 pounds and above. What do I do to make sure I stand out and get selected as a LB?
Thanks I am going to play line backer one year of high school became I wanna try Defense 2x in high school I am playing DB 8th grade and then running back first third and final year of high school and linebacker 2nd

Need some advice from people. Wanting to play outside linebacker next year, but I’m only 5’5 (I’m in varsity high school and It’s my rookie year. I’m 15 and 155 lbs) Im small for the position but whenever I play it, I feel so alive and I can hit really hard. Do you think I should stay on db?
Work your agility and speed. Do lots of coverage drills. Build your upper body so you can run stop and shed blocks multiple plays. Study your playbook so you know your assignments in different fronts. Ask for advice and guidance from coach.
I'm no expert, but you want my advice, you can try to take some snaps as an OLB, but I would strongly advise you to bulk up just a little bit if you want to play this position, cause you will need to get bigger in order to get past the offensive line. Otherwise, I think the strong safety position is perfect for you, since strong safeties are kind of the middle ground between a linebacker and cornerback. But like a commenter said, you should turn to your coaches for guidance, since they know best.
Depends on which one if your playing free safety your just watching the QB and double team anyone on ur side. Whilst Strong safeties your stopping the run you can cover a HB FB RB so in short a Strong Safety your just a smaller linebacker. Well actually both safeties are just cornerbacks but play deeper
Depends, middle line backer, and the other 2 on the side of him, either intercept or get the running backer , if a blitz u just try to tackle the qb is what im getting from it
No its no you have to remember the plays tell the receivers their routes practice 12 hours a day find your right equipment depend on your offense lineman just to block and not get sacked all just for you to maybe lose that game or have a 50-50 chance to win

4-3 OLBs are LBs that can play ILB in a 3-4. 3-4 OLBs can play DE in a 4-3.
These videos are nice.
God bless you guys Always keep God first

Not enough NFL caliber QBs to go around.

Do safety
3:20 should have used more arrows, circles and lines on this one instead of assuming i know wth youre talking about, i dont even know the positions.
I wanna be a line backer but I don’t have good leadership
What if there is no tight end
I might play linebacker because the coach sees me as one
My son does he is a linebacker
0:16 Joe Burrow😂😂😂😂
😂😂
All I’m saying is that most of these tackles are illegal now💀💀💀
Is it possible to become a linebacker with 5'10 heigth
I’m high school sure but most likely not past that
That seem alright it just depends on the weight

In hs and college fs but not NFL
