Pro football reference’s play index for NFL play by play only goes back to 1994. I remember coming across a message board post that mentioned a 4th and at least 40 in the early 70’s.
Under the rules at the time, if a receiver was pushed out of bounds by a defender, then it would still count as a catch. It was a dumb rule and thankfully it has since been changed (I say this as a Cardinals fan), but the call was correct under the rules that existed at the time.
That Packers/Arizona game was such a sad game to lose as a Packers fan. Completed that wild 4th and 20 and then ended regulation with a successful Hail Mary only to lose in OT
In a high school game I was playing in, the opposing team was deep in our end of the field. One of their players popped off to a ref, and got a 15 yard penalty. 0:24 Is probably the greatest throw I've ever seen
Would love to see a “Longest 4th downs ever converted!”
That block at 12:46 was CRUCIAL. I remember that play. That's the play when I said, "The Ravens might be winning the Super Bowl this year."
Was at the Chiefs vs Browns game (2nd to last clip ) and was screaming “make a tackle “ as the rest of the crowd got restless . Browns avg 9 yards a PLAY that first half . One of the crazier games i been to
I know it isn't 4th and 20+ but a play I would've loved to see on this list was the 4th and 13 Josh Allen conversion for a TD at the 2 min warning in the 4th qtr against the Chiefs in the Divisional last year. It was such an amazing play to
1:12 I remember that Mike Sellers touchdown as a kid. So cool!
4:25 The Colts D was so bad, it actually hurt to watch
So many times the same teams were involved lol
Excluding TD’s.
Just came here to say "hey diddle diddle Ray Rice up the middle!"
I grew up in San Diego. I was still pretty young, and had only been interested in football for a few years, but honestly after that 4th & 29 play, I should have known just from that.
Never have hope for the Chargers.
(I finally ragequit them in 2016 when they became the only team to lose to the Browns in two years.)
[It's amazing the Chargers are on the GOOD side of this list MORE THAN ONCE. I've never even HEARD of the quarterback at 0:38!]
If I owned the chargers, I would move them back to San Diego.
I was at that game when Rice picked up the fourth-and-29 for the Ravens against my team. Brutal. It still hurts.
Love you Richie Kotite
All these 4th and 20s were executed at a very high level
Justin Herbert is the king of fourth down conversions. That Ray Rice Play Was One Of The Greatest Ever.
i think watching this with just audio and imagining you're driving listening to it on the radio feels so much cooler lol
Ironically, the Cardinals knocking the Vikings out of the playoffs on a 4th and 24 led to The Packers making the playoffs instead, where they were eliminated by the Eagles on a 4th and 26 a week later. 😂
You’d think there would be a lot more 4th and 20 plays throughout NFL History. Crazy.
Edit: ok this is only 1991-Current that makes sense I was gonna say there’ has be more than just this when you take into account how many NFL games have been played since the league began
Pro football reference’s play index for NFL play by play only goes back to 1994.
I remember coming across a message board post that mentioned a 4th and at least 40 in the early 70’s.
There was one in the Dallas vs AZ game in 2010 that wasn't included here. Thankfully 😡
5:05 Bro got jumped by his own man 💀
Hearing Marv Albert call an NFL game is awesome.
As a Dallas fan these I'm not surprised at
It's the middle of July but I'm ready for some football...
That throw by Josh McCown was awesome
9:00 did he get both feet down??
Under the rules at the time, if a receiver was pushed out of bounds by a defender, then it would still count as a catch. It was a dumb rule and thankfully it has since been changed (I say this as a Cardinals fan), but the call was correct under the rules that existed at the time.
4:43 bro just lays down and starts doing snow angels💀💀💀
Fitz Magic has the best 4th down conversion of all time
Damn chargers QB whelihan threw 4 picks in a game to the same player and still led them to a comeback, that's wild.
And after all that, they still lost to Arizona lol
Ravens - 4th and Forever.
The Packers- Cardinals game in the first clip is undoubtedly one of the top 5 games in NFL history.
Hey diddle diddle Ray Rice up the middle!
7:40 dudes last name was Slaughter
4th and 26 against the eagles will haunt me my entire life and I was 10 when it happened
Bring back Starter jerseys and Logo Athletic 😫
3:59 - The audio was lifted from another game. The 1990 NFC Championship, Giants vs. 49'ers.
So many Cardinal highlights.
If your team gives up larger than a 4th and 15, your team deserves to lose. Period.
Does the video screw up at :12 every time for anyone else??
For sure Justin Herbert is the king of fourth down conversions
Thank you for posting the video
Me: watches a video called longest fourth down conversions.
Also me: 4th and 20?! I hope they make it!
I Love This Incredible Video 📸 NFL Throwback 🏈🏉 Keep Up The Good Work 👍.
After this video I’ve learned if you go for it on 4th and 20 you will be successful 9/10
As others have said, where is 4th and 28? Justin Jefferson, from Vikings-Bills game, 2022.
Genuinely thought this would be 14 minutes entirely of Flacco.
That was a block in the back on the ravens tho
Ray Rice getting an extra 2 pity yards, that knee is down at the 35 lol.
That Packers/Arizona game was such a sad game to lose as a Packers fan. Completed that wild 4th and 20 and then ended regulation with a successful Hail Mary only to lose in OT
Shoot! I was expecting to see the 2022 Vikings vs Bills game where Justin Jefferson made one of the best catches ever on a 4th & 18 play.
Me too
if that 4th & 31 run from that Jets-49ers game
Very nice compilation thank you
8:27. He got 1 foot in. Nfl took out the force out rule shortly after. Vikings lost division. Missed playoffs on a rule that don’t even exist today.
Crazy right?!
Now days Targeting would have been called. 10:15
I notice a lack of colts plays in these videos unless we get beat hmmm that’s a little biased
In a high school game I was playing in, the opposing team was deep in our end of the field. One of their players popped off to a ref, and got a 15 yard penalty. Then when they moved the sticks back, he told the ref to FO. 15 more yards. Repeat...and repeat. I think they ended up on their own 1 yard line with a 4th and 90.
Yeah that stories only cool if they went on to complete the 4th of 90 for a touchdown
9:05 looks like he was push out of bounds before the second foot touch end zone
thats exactly what i thought
As @UnJefeDelDesierto said until 2008 if the defender pushed you out it was considered a catch. One of my favorite rule changes
