  • Removing passenger side # 1 sparkplug easier when using 10" extension, 2" extension and stubby socket wrench with spark plug socket. I started off unscrewing sparkplug with 10" extension, then switched to 2" inch extenstion because socket wrench was unable to swivel with battery tray in the way.
Notes: I purchased the jeep with 125, 078 miles on the odometer. Jeep currently has 130,645 miles on the odometer. I'm not sure if the spark plugs have ever been changed. So, I knew it was worth a spark plugs inspection at the minium and replace if necessary.
As you can see the center electrodes worn down to nothing. Ironically the jeep never misfired or through trouble codes with the sparkplug being in such a deterioated condition. Anyways, performing basic maintanence will prevent future breakdowns and maintain optimal engine performance. Have and Ablecraft day!

Those plugs have the longest shank, I have ever seen. Well done, as usual, Mr. Able.

Mr. McBroome thank you for the compliment! Yes, I agree. On another note It was far easier replacing the spark plugs on this jeep than the 1999 Ford Ranger. I had more room underneath the hood and engine bay of the jeep than with the Ranger.
Amazingly enough these worn out plugs seen in this video kept on working. The gap on the new sparkplugs is set at .050. I measured the gap on the three old sparkplugs and gaps ranged .080 to over .095 daggum! Jeep didn't experience misfires or idling issues prior to spark plug replacement.
I replaced the sparks plugs with original equipment manufacture (OEM) Champions RE14PLP5. Heck they worked so good to 130,645 miles plus. I might as well continue with OEM sparkplugs. Thanks for contributing!

Couldn’t get my passenger side wires out, changed the plugs no problem though, didn’t even remove the battery. My plugs had some oil on them,
