This is such an insightful video! I’m so happy your video was able to answer my question on why we kept seeing those shots of the Nike Rules. Super well done, thank you!

Thank you so much! Yeah I kept thinking about it after the film, but when I looked up the official list of the 10 rules on Google Images, it all made much more sense. It was super clever. Thank you so much for watching!!

Great video, sir! What I find fascinating about American sports movies is that they are great distillations of what I would call American heroic virtues - commitment to change, rule breaking to win (but NOT cheating), any underdog has the potential for greatness, etc. And AIR is a fantastic example, maybe even a platonic ideal, of one. ESPECIALLY as it marries sport and business - two of American culture's biggest exports. (Yes, other countries have organized sport, and they are engaged in capitalism, but I'd argue that they do not hold a place in their foundational myths and current culture like they do in the US.)
That said, is it just a great example of a sports movie, without saying anything new? I think so, and therefore don't think it will be be than an easy rewatch on a Sunday afternoon when you can't be bothered to do anything else.

Saw this Saturday night at early screening with amc. I loved it and it’s definitely gonna be in my top 10 of the year. The ending was great and the speech he gave in the meeting was 🔥🔥. This movie was riddled with quotes. I loved the phone conversation with mom about compensation. Sonny had hell of ambition and made risky moves to achieve it

Agree with you 100% this movie rocks haha kinda reminds me of Top Gun Maverick with its uplifting, feel-good spirit but also integrity in strong direction and characters. Every scene you mentioned, I totally agree. I know it's early, but I expect a supporting actress nomination for Viola Davis too, she was perfect. So glad you liked it!

I hope you do videos for The Menu and Infinity Pool. Those films have lots of things to explore.

Upon the release of both of these, I couldn't get access to them geographically. I actually still haven't seen them, but they're certainly my kinda thing, as you've said. I think I'm gonna cover them both within the next few weeks, I'll start with Infinity Pool for sure. Thank you for letting me know you still want to see me cover them! Sometimes I think I'm too late, but you've proven me wrong

No one really wants a biopic about Michael Jordan. It’ll just get botched. Just be happy that “Space Jam”, not the LeBron James bull crap, exists.
