  • Today on ‪@CoolStuffWithKyle‬, I am showing you my new Nicaraguan Dwarf Boa. Being a Central American dwarf boa variety, she is much smaller than the size that some larger boas reach. She is about 3 years old, and currently 39 inches in length. I recently acquired her from a lady who was no longer capable of handling her regularly, and wanted her to go to a home where someone could work with her and get her calmed down. I'm working on getting her used to being handled regularly, and she is doing very well so far.
You could call her a boa constrictor, but more accurately, due to the way they are classifying these snakes today, she is a Boa imperator. Nicaraguan, Central American, and Dwarf Boa are just generic terms that describe her particular locality, and the traits associated with it.

That's cool! My understanding is that she probably will get a little bigger than this, but way smaller than the Colombian boa I used to have years ago. That snake was about 10 ft long, a big boa for sure.
