IMG is just a gene, or morph. True Red Tails are a locality, such as a Peruvian or Guyana. For the most part it depends upon what you feed the snake, and how often.
Only got 1 reptile a ball pyton I'm trying to get a img or a rat king snake as my nexst reptile 🐍 hasn't dropped mutch in price still 1000€ a year later great deal & beautiful snake!
I just bought two juvenile boas one male blood leo 66% for $400 and a girl Leo 50% enery. And I’m still extremely new to the hobby but I’m pretty sure they are nothing too special however they are really really pretty and beautiful. I don’t plan to buy anymore I think two is enough. And I don’t plan on breeding them either i didn’t buy them with the intent for breeding so I’d say if you know you won’t be buying more only spending $400, $500, $600 might be okay :)
No, she is a BCI, I feed her a mouse every week to 10 days. Probably going to move up to rats soon but want to slow grow so she looks her best as an adult
Hey man appreciate you sharing your thoughts it would of been crazy if it was a male that way you could multiply the transfer of genes but regardless no mistake was made my friend 🔥🖤
Both males and females can carry and pass on the gene, sometimes breeders will see a male as more desirable as they take longer to mature and can pass the gene on before a female of the same age would be ready to breed.
that my friend is one of the most beautiful creatures ive ever seen
Thank you, she just keeps getting bigger and darker!
She's beautiful. I think it's money spent well for her
Oh yeah! Impulse purchase that I have never regretted.
Wow this looks so clean!
Thanks, she is something else
Do IMG's usually stay smaller than redtails?

@@snakewerks I know that, I guess I've just never seen a fully grown IMG, or they were all central american boas
Beautiful boa my friend..
Thank you! She really is something else. I'm keeping an eye out for a male to pair her with in a couple years.
Cool snake
Thanks!
Where did you buy her???
She came from Kevin Hasley in England.
@@snakewerks Thank you
Are there any other genes mixed with the IMG?
Not visually, although this snake is het for RDR BEA
@@snakewerks I have a female img het bea. I would love for her to get that black. She is quite dark now. She is about 2 yrs old.
everytime i search up “img boa” nothing pops up… what other names do they go by?
IMG stand for Increasing Melanin Gene. I think due in part to computer images being labeled as img sometimes its difficult to find them.
$1500 for her ? That’s great prices I’m seeing right now seem to start at $2000 for one that looks close to this example
She was a great impulse purchase!

Absolutely beautiful snake by the way😍
Thanks! Nothing wrong with not breeding, although you are smart to pick up hets like you did.
Is she an Central American?

Need an update on her
I'll make a video, she just shed again, still looking incredible!

So the males are the ones that carry on the img gene?

Yeah, the guy was only letting one go. I also went male heavy when I started collecting ball pythons so trying to not take that same path again.
Ok...just curious im gettin back into reptiles again...guess it dont matter tho...ill never be able to afford to do anything other than work
@@snakewerks thanks
Beautiful girl!!
Thanks!
