There's are very simple reasons why Netflix is going downhills. All the good shows have moved to other streaming platforms that are cheaper and offer more. I mean, $10 per month for 480p and no password sharing on a single device vs 14$ per month for Disney plus AND Hulu with 4k on multiple devices. It's not hard to choose.

The main reason Netflix is going slightly downhill is because when you're the biggest streaming service on the market with hundreds of millions of monthly users there's really nowhere else to go but down.

The reason for netflixes downfall are indeed a lie. But the reason he gave wasn't actually factually incorrect. It just doesn't logically follow. The cause of more woke content = investors would leave otherwise. This is fact. The cause of more woke content = netflix downfall. This is a downright lie. Accept the facts and deny the lies, don't deny the facts because of some lies he said. This makes people of other political beliefs think you're being disingenuous.

@@e.d.5766 good point. That actually makes a lot of sense. The price increase timing (from memory at least) does seem to line up with content moving from Netflix to the “parent” of the contents streaming service.
To the younger generation who didn't experience a trip with the family to blockbuster. It really was a indescribable experience as a kid. Seemed like they had every movie in the world and then you finally get home and throw it in the VHS player and the fuckers who rented it before you didn't rewind it. So now you gotta sit there for 5 mins and rewind the whole thing. Lmao but it's some great family memories.

this is pre-watching this video but i can tell from my experience that netflix is dying cuzz they keep removing the good series/movies in my country and it keeps on removing the only good shit, 99% of the time you're stuck with what is "popular" but it rarely is ever even good imo

I have stopped paying bc its too expensive and doesnt have most of the classic good movies/series. I never really care for originals, if there were some good Id watch, but wasnt the reason of me paying for it, might be just me.
You can notice xqc hasnt watched netflix in a long time, nowdays the ratio of licenses and netflix originals is crazy, they think people will stay subbed because they make so many originals but thats why people unsub, there isnt enough good shit, 80% of the good shit has been replaced with originals.

In college I did a research paper on this.
1. The majority of Netflix’s watch time comes from licensed content, and the producers of content have developed their own platforms. This means Netflix loses a lot of popular content, must pay more for their licenses, and inherently have a more competitive market sector.
2. Netflix has high brand awareness. 94% of US citizens know of Netflix. This means they have severely diminished returns from advertising compared to competitors since non subs know of them but don’t want their service.
3. Netflix’s subscription price is comparatively high vs competitors while content doesn’t justify it.
4. Their Netflix original hit rate is pretty low. They don’t have a reliable formula like HBO or Disney

Moon points to a lot of things that are worth keeping in mind, but doesn't demonstrate that the connection he's claiming actually exists. The problem here is that he's relying on things that "seem true" from our view of just scrolling Netflix and noticing there's "more woke" and you draw a simple connection and then you're supposed to leave it there. But if you actually want to be realistic about the issue, you should realize that the streaming services competition is much more likely to have the power to make such a massive change and the "woke" portion is just too small for it. That's basically what X is trying to say here.
well the problem is that you missed the fact that he actually said all the reasons why netflix is crashing in the video. but the more complex things such as esg are harder to explain that the 1 sentence it takes to say ''there are more competitors'' or ''the prices went up'', etc. therefore because he takes 5 minutes to explain why ESG harmed netflix and 5 seconds to say ''more competition''. you are focused on the thing that took a longer time to explain due to complexity of the topic.
Bro there’s a reason why Netflix hasn’t came out with good originals for awhile and that’s because they’re main objective isn’t to please the audience, it’s to please the investors. What you said is true, there’s a lot of streaming services out there. But that just further proves why Netflix is pandering to the investors. It’s because if they don’t push out certain political related shows or movies, then they investors will put more money into streaming services that will like Disney+, and they’ll start to lose money. It’s literally not hard to come up with a good show, especially when you have a team like Netflix working on it. We’ve seen how beneficial just 1 good show can be for their company, so it’s no coincidence we haven’t gotten a good Netflix original since Stranger Things, and they seem to be producing more and more woke content. So while this obviously isn’t the entire issue, it’s definitely a big part of why they’re struggling.

That maybe Netflix will go up now again because of things like the Chappelle example of going against wokeness. It's like this guy is doing advanced clickbaiting to make us watch his other videos, and so he doesn't care if the point in this video is true or not.

@@piersyfy4148 yeh i agree to a certain extent. I think the main reasons for netflix's downward spiral is due mainly to competition, price hikes and lack of new interesting content. I think ESG probably contributed slightly to the ''interesting content'' aspect but probably didn't cause the competition or price factor problems.
although i think those are the main factors i think there are lesser factors too such as reputational damage, an overall disatisfaction with entertainment due to hollywood, disney, netflix becoming woke and because as the company ages people naturally have less things to watch.
did he spend to much time talking about esg? i don't think so because in order for people to be capable of understanding a new complex problem, there needs to be a detailed explanation of that problem. once people are aware of the specific problem a shorter explaination can be given. since the vast majority of people aren't aware of ESG scores I think it's understandable for someone like this to go into more detail on that aspect even though it may only be a small contributing factor as to why the company is spiraling downwards.
He's not wrong about ESG scores affecting everything. Marketing is all about manipulating people, and being woke is an easy way to do it. They've figured out that the best way to get young people to be loyal to brands is by pretending to care about social issues. If you're bad at tricking people that you're helping the world you're not gonna stay in business for long.
The issue is he is making it seem like its a major reason for netlfixs issues when it clearly isnt.

X really can't comprehend some of the most simple things out there. It's a rating system, it updates throughout the year not just one time 8 years ago. They have to update their standards to be rated higher which in turn gets more funding from investors following that rating system. That doesn't mean their customer base enjoys said content, which can lead to a big dip in subscribers when the content they were used to is no longer available on that platform. The licensing is not even a part of the argument it's entirely about meeting a bottom line and the audience not receiving what they are looking for.

I don't get why XQC asks his chat (12-15-year-olds) political questions and then takes the answers as viable answers. His chats political stance comes from either their parents or TikTok. The amount of braindead people who answer things so badly when he asks a question is crazy. An example of chat being braindead is at 22:56...they get so offended because they think the guy is calling it a bad show because it's about a man giving birth that they forget the entire argument...that Netflix is making bad shows (bad writing, bad story, etc.) with the foundation of the show/movie being about a controversial topic. That part of the video was not saying the main character representing a transgender man is what made the show trash at all. Not getting why xqc was so triggred here. At times like this he should go to another video about the topics and see if it matches. i like most of the points made, netflix choses to please investors over the public, and got shit on because of this. The point about fox news is very big, because one single show can tank all the point of netflix because the public uproar, but fox news is know to have theirs vies, so it's harder to tank it.

Xqc trying to explain how Netflix originals isn't the problem causing their downfall right now is him 1. Trying to make sure his take at the beginning about how other streaming services are taking out pieces of Netflix's pie (which they are) is still true cause xqc hates being wrong.
And 2. Yes Netflix originals is a small portion of their total number of shows. I think his graph is obviously not accurate I'd say it's probably about 35% of their total shows but regardless. It might be a smaller total percentage of their total number of shows that are created but they have to put far more investment in those shows that they create themselves then paying $20 million a year for 5 years for a show that took $150 million to make.

yeah, sunnyv2 definitely created the video essay format. surely that style of video hasn't been used on this platform for almost a decade now. you are definitely not coping and seething because xQc exposed you to one out of dozens of overtly right-wing content creators.
its pretty clear how the quality of netflix originals has been declining, amongst other reasons, due to them trying to "reinvent" and/or "modernize" their narratives and characters, instead of simply focusing on doing a respectful adaptation to the source material. So yes, "wokeness", for as much as some hate to admit it, plays a considerable factor into Netflix's downfall. Adaptations like Cowboy Bebop's, Resident Evil, Death Note, and even The Witcher (even though its quite decent overall) ALL suffer from this same problem... A superficial attempt to inject "slacktivist" agendas everywhere, a lot of the time, at the cost of the material's consistency and quality (not to mention as upsetting their fanbases for no reason at lot of the time, which translates into a less faithful viewerbase in the long term of things).
Now of course, due to the sheer magnitude of this decline, there were many other factors in play in order to speed it up to this scale (sudden increase of price, greedy new policies, etc). But I think it is fair to point it out as a tendency of just so many players in the industry, and likely can be tracked as the starting point of their decline. Plenty of examples out there, especially when talking about Disney, and imo they're on a *very* similar path to Netflix, as nowadays it is such a common occurrence for big corporations to follow each other's tendencies, no matter the long term implications of it, or so it seems.

I don't know about anyone else but I canceled my Netflix subscription because of the price and the rumor that they were going to start adding advertisements for certain tiers as well as them starting to crack down on account sharing. If I pay for their highest tier which I think at the time I canceled was at or above $20 a month, allowing 4 simultaneous streams then why should they care where I watch from? It's my account and I should be allowed to use it how I want as long as I am paying for it. I also canceled because other services provided more value for lower prices in terms of available content. In a sense, the video does have a point in the fact that once other streaming providers started coming out with their own services the amount and quality of content on Netflix really started going downhill.

The anecdote I have noticed from people around me is usually something like: they look for a movie they want to watch (that they've seen before or will recognize) but instead scroll through for ~1 hour and give up. Maybe it's their library that they can no longer keep up with due to competition, or the obligation to put the originals first, or some combination of the two, but I know many people who dropped it once The Office or another show they liked was taken off and they dont plan to return.

That's something they really never had to do for the majority of its existence. Rival streaming services are putting out quality content at a good pace and are pulling all of their licensed content from Netflix. There's a hint of conspiracy with Blackrock and why they would be motivated to invest and push "wokeness", the fact of the matter is that Netflix exploded in subscriptions since the investments from Blackrock 6 years ago, and only began to bleed subscriptions this year. What seems more likely? That its all part of a mysterious conspiracy to push a "woke" agenda, compeltley ignoring the monetary value it HAS raked in for not only Netflix but their competitors like Disney, or that Netflix is struggling to keep up with an increasingly competitive market and it's shrinking content library?
The competition plus the price hikes are the main reasons. People who think it's because of woke media point to a few movies in the sea of terrible movies to fit their narrative. The reality is Netflix can't make deals for good movies when all the people who make good movies have their own streaming services.
