its hard to think of -38 with i assume low humidity as not being death as an equator dweller with 30 Celsius, 70-80% humidity daily. I guess the right clothing just allows that.

Hes right about the temp. Quebec can get to -20C or right around it pretty commonly yearly (maybe not in recent years since lol). Its just the constant barrage of wind that makes the difference

You can tell by the way hes talking, its clear hes saying “isnt that bad” as in he was expecting it to be significantly lower due to his initial expectations and knowledge surrounding everest beforehand. With how others have described the setting and tragedies surrounding everest, he was probably expecting -50 or lower or some other extreme value; yet its shown as -36, hence “not that bad” compared to his initial expectations. Especially when he himself has grown up with winters gearing towards -20 or lower in his youth. Its why you cant take equate things like climate numerically, as other variables play a much bigger role then just the temperature value itself.

Obviously there exists better wording then “isnt that bad” but its clear his intent wasnt to make it seem “not bad” like your stating. Im also from colder climates in winter, and the second I saw that value I was also quite surprised. For all the stories and tidbits of information ive read on everest I was expecting much lower then whats shown, but like even Xqc said, other variables such as wind, altitude, etc contribute heavily to the environment people summiting towards everest find themselves in compared to a normal winter in the streets of northern countries

A friend of mine did alpinism. They said that getting to the summit wasn't even half the enterprise, more like 1/3. A bunch of accidents occur on the way back.

As somebody who has been above 2400 meters i can tell you that the thin air is insane. It is like drowing without water. You just have to stand still and breath a couple of times before moving on.
I dont wanna be that guy, but the air doesnt become that thin until about ~3200 meters and up. Sure, you notice the differential starting from 2000, but its not really an issue if youre fit

@@Kain1805Except OP is probably lying. I’ve been to the Jungfraujoch in Switzerland (3463m) and the air is not that much different. Only difference was when I breathed in fully I felt that my lungs were probably only getting 80% of the normal oxygen I would get normally.

Honestly finding these dead bodies seems more exciting than climbing the summit. You know where the summit is, but not the bodies. You'd have to explore the whole mountain. And then finding the film or other evidence of them reaching the summit is another task.
And this is why I am a believer of the machine if we can shed the weakness of Flesh the possibility for Humanity is endless

I believe if you can climb Everest only at your absolute limit, you will not survive the second highest peak, one of the deadliest mountains in the world of K2.
Far more remotely located, surrounded by other pillar-like mountains, and almost sheer faces. If you conquer K2 you can conquer everything.
Our body sucks because that's not our focus of survival, it's our potential for technologies and inteligence, just like some other animals like beevers or others that make traps and etc.
this is why i think it's really interesting that people that are born in these places have bodies adapted to low amounts of oxygen. evolution really is impressive.
