    This one gave me a lot of chills, from the amount of errors that led up to the incident, to the F-16 pilots witnessing The Flight Attendant’s last attempt to try and save everyone, his final few communications and the F-16 pilots feeling completely powerless while having to watch dozens of people met their fate. It all just combines into a bitter chills, and sadness. May those on the flight rest in peace. And thank you Andreas Prodromou for trying the best in the worst of circumstances…

      a pilot can have a heart attack and the other pilot can take over
      that automatically means flying is more then twice as safe as driving in a car. a single driver could just die and crash into you, you dont even have to be in a car, just walking on the sidewalk.... most other vehicles have a single driver, planes usually have 2 pilots. plus ground people... if this videos scared you, you must constantly be scared for your life by all of your surroundings, unless you're just stupid

    This is really so tragic. Around Christmas time this past year, my flight home initially got delayed by 5 hours (1pm-6pm) due to some fuel issues. 5 hours turned to 17 (1pm-6am) so I stayed overnight at the airport expecting to get on early in the morning. Low and behold those mfs said the flight is now delayed until 3pm, making it a 26 hour delay that I spent alone in the airport. Yes, very annoying situation for me but if that’s what it takes to get me on a safe flight, i don’t care how long I have to wait. I’m only a few mins into the video so I can’t blame it completely on the prechecks but just hearing that they forgot to switch it back to automatic is absolutely revolting.

Especially the train accident is clearly a matter of priorities (profits -less costs- over maintenance and human lives). The minister of transportations (Karamanlis) in Greece said in the parliament that ''safety measures shouldnt be questioned and that the opposition shouldnt have the audacity to ask about safety, shame'' as an answer to the opposition. Another minister of investments and urban development said ''if we questions the safety of transportation, nobody will ever get in a train again''.
      This is systematic improper supervision because certain companies and politicians dont give a shit about common people that use these means of transportation and only care for profit. Its not human error/negligence

      And then what? Autopilot can't land the plane, and once gone unconcious, the pilots could still very well remain unconcious even after descent. This is why fighter jet pilots have masks always on. Honestly Civil airline pilots should do it too whenever they are in cockpit

    • @GENKI_INU
      @GENKI_INU Год назад +32

      @@TheDeathLove That's not how it works. You regain consciousness shortly after your blood-oxygen levels rise back to sufficient levels. It's not like you go into a coma.
      You're still breathing when you're unconscious, so when the air gets thick enough again at lower altitude (10-12,000 ft) you'll wake up, as long as it's not super extended hypoxia or no oxygen at all, which can cause brain or heart tissue death.
      But even the video mentioned everyone was still alive before the crash. Just the descent was too rapid after running out of fuel for people to react.

    • @TheDeathLove
      @TheDeathLove Год назад +3

      @@GENKI_INU No the descent wasn't raid up until fuel ran out of one engine. This is why the plane was looping in an automated path when it reaches its destination. The extended hypoxia caused brain damage. Yes the video said crew and passengers were alive but that was clinical life. Aka not hearth death. It is very likely most people on board the flight had already suffered massive brain damage and have gone brain dead. The flight crew who reached cockpit very later was a scuba diver that helped him either regain conciousness or was clinging somehow to low levels of oxygen and sharing from other tanks. We will never know. Regardless an AI doing rapid descent when masks are not on pilots would be disastrous as malfunction in the AI system can cause it to just descent on mountain terrains or outright high rise buildings. You said it would ignore those but that's not a perfect system as we have had seen both manual and machine errors happen in the past and that's why proper trained pilots are needed. Unfortunately this wasn't the case here.

    If the pressurization system only needs to be manual when being serviced on the ground, they should have the dial that switches it on a special service key that would create a situation where the service members would always need to return the pressurization system to auto in order to remove their keys.

    • @yaseen157
      @yaseen157 Год назад +4

      It is never a good idea to remove authority from the pilots. If the cabin pressure sensors fail and pilots recognise the danger, pilots need to be able to manually pressurise the cabin. That's the point of the manual setting. The more processes you obscure and automate, the harder it is for people to work out what's going wrong in an emergency. That's why those two 737 max's crashed, automating and hiding controls from pilots will result in competent pilots losing control of their aircraft because of faulty programming.
      Same reason you don't put remote control abilities in planes, because you never know when some malicious actor will be interfering with a competent pilot. Granted the pilots were not competent in this case, but that is why the behaviour has to be disciplined out (which Helios airlines weren't able to do)

      737 is a positively ancient plane, made with 1960s technology standards. It's all buttons and knobs, manual instruments, during a time with little to no machine automation, let alone computer systems. Anything like autopilot is retrofitted at great expense and only because safety boards forced them to. The problem is the continuation of flying these old aircraft without seeing it as a problem. Often new tech is not possible on old tech and does not solve the problem, only puts a basic bandaid (in this case they added a new preflight check warning light, still a human manual process).

There should be some sort of upgrade path with any modern plane where older designs can be retrofitted easily to update hardware or software, in my opinion.

      @@Corzappy I mean, they don't even necessarily have to be remotely controlled. They could be completely automated, like some drones already are. At least to the point where an emergency like this occurs, the plane could simply drop altitude automatically or possibly even land automatically.

    I always watch air crash investigation videos. What I realize about aircrafts is the safety development only improves when something goes wrong. Planes already have safety measures built in, problem began to show because of human error.

    any pilot that gets caught not following procedures correctly even once should instantly lose his license... like wtf!?

      This is a complex issue and that is most definitely not the solution.
      A no-tolerance policy leads to one thing only: Pilots trying to cover up their mistakes, not reporting issues and thus leading to more accidents.
      What they're working on is way more helpful:
      - Point and check system: Every item on the checklist should be not just called out but pointed at with your index finger, items get overlooked much less
      - Eliminating power differentials between FO and Captain, FO should be allowed to speak up any time and should call out any mistakes. That's also the reason why either pilot can call for a go around without having to explain and pilots must follow immediately.
      - Higher tolerance to reports about incidents: If mistakes happen, don't fire the pilots for reporting it, instead learn from them. That's how problems become incidents and not accidents.

    This is why i will never fly in a plane, no matter what, no matter how advanced or how well engineered they become, a chain of events like in this video can happen with multiple things onboard, resulting in a horrible end. The idea of putting myself in this situation, my destiny in the hands of another human, who is as much a human as i am, and who can absolutely make a mistake, scares the shit out of me.
