Kevyn Adams' press conference yesterday was very scary with some of the comments he made. Doesn't feel the need to spend the cap created by buying out Skinner (screams the owner wants to save money), says the roster is better than last year (definitely tougher but lost tons of offense for a team that was 23rd in scoring), and said Peyton Krebs has produced and "we've all seen how productive he can be." Yeah Kev, maybe back in Winnipeg in the WHL. He's done nada in the NHL, even when put on lines giving him the support. Brutal presser.
I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure the owner doesn't get or lose cap space money. It's not like you pocket the money you don't spend. Signing bonuses come out of the owners pocket, but not cap
Yeah he doesn't put the money left over in his pockets. It just stays as useable cap. The problem is.....not many good players left on FA besides Tarasenko and he's currently linked to NYR/NJ if he doesn't resign in Florida.

@@seanragsdale5636 First off I will say the way management treated Stamkos was complete BS and is a stain on their leadership skills for me. Now, as far as on the ice Stamkos is only getting older and is 5 on 5 play has fallen off a cliff. 40 goals is 40 goals but he did get to play with Kucherov while he was having a historically great playmaking season. Easy to see Stammer's numbers declining next season while I think Guentzel has a chance to hit some career highs.
The Prime games are a Canada only broadcast.

Looks like they're counting on one or two kids to make the top 9 forwards and have good rookie seasons. Also, they didn't build a strong 3rd D pairing or sign a strong backup goalie... gives Johnson (D) and Levi (GK) a chance to steal a roster spot if they show up to camp looking really good.
Scripps broadcasts the VGK games for free as well. Still need cable to watch it though. They said it would be available with a digital antenna, but most of the city cannot receive them. Hopefully they do a better job with it in FLA.
Excited to hear what TEG thought of that concert, it sounds fun. Glad you are doing that and don't feel anchored to this, because we can handle a night off with no reviews.

I'm looking forward to the new review format. I've appreciated the evolution of the channel. I like how the previews have become part of the news of the day, and in general at times when I get fed up with the culture of NHL hockey for various reasons, and get away from it for a while, you keep me interested and from getting too far away from it.

NHL is always finding ways of diminishing the fan experience.
I haven't seen any explanation why the Kraken home-opener is at 1:30 on a Tuesday afternoon, that's going to look great, a half-empty arena for a home opener. As a STH with a job and kids in school, this makes no sense to me.
ESPN, of course. They want to make sure Boston vs Florida gets the prime slot in their opening night triple header.
They screw it up for baseball too. This past Sunday, they put Texas at Baltimore on at 8pm. It decreased the Baltimore home attendance for the game by about half.

Did you watch him at all last year? He's a gamer and seems like a good guy, but he stops a lot of shots that he shouldn't and let's in an awful lot that he should.

With the Thursday night NFL games on prime you are able to watch them for free on twitch so maybe it’ll be the same for the NHL

As a Sens and Avs fan, Erik Brainstorm is remarkably unremarkable. I'd be shocked if he's anything more then a fine number 6 defenseman for Colorado this coming season.
He'll be battling for that #6 spot with Sam Malinski
He doesn't have to be, our top 4 is set. Also everyone said Nuke was garbage before he went to Denver and we turned him into a near ppg defensive monster. You never know what can happen when leaving a badly ran organization and joining a great one

If you're trying to insinuate I am complaining about the length of the season, you'd be wrong. I believe it needs to start in mid-September so that it ends in early June. A long season means that I have less time to fill during the off-season.

Oilers 100% have the best line up in the NHL rn if the season were to start tomorrow and they aren't even done yet. Pretty positive they're looking to upgrade on Ceci by shopping him and McLeod together. Maybe they also throw in a pick to get an upgrade for a solid top 4. After that i don't think theres anyone in the league who's gonna stop them. They already had a top 5-10 defense last season with Ceci and Vinny. Now imagine what it'll be like after an upgrade on both. Broberg will replace Vinny who is already looking like a beast top 4 pairing dman.

Interesting to see Ft Myers on the list of broadcast outlets for Florida Panthers' games, as it is on the Gulf coast, not the Atlantic side, and seems firmly in Tampa Bay Lightning territory (with a rink in nearby Estero, where each team has had a minor leauge affilite at various times).

Plus Sebastion Cosa at Grand Rapids The logic is probably to carry three goalies on the NHL roster Tow goalies will play ar Grand Rapids, to be available if a goalie is injured. Trading a goalie is also a possibility Teams always seem to need goalies during the regular season.

stamkos is a declining power-play specialist who plays on the wing and was a dog💩 -21 last year.19 of his 40G came on the PP last year.
hedman is a conn smythe winner, a 6-time norris finalist, and minute-munching workhorse that averaged almost a ppg.
hedman is still a good d-man at his age. and this is the 1st time in his career that he is going to make $8m /AAV.

@@robertr997Point was on ice for a LOT of EN goals last year, as was Stamkos to be fair, but Point was not a liability at 5v5 like Stammer was, and Stamkos papered over a lot of his decline with PP goals.

No, they said we have to cap you at a certain AAV or we literally cannot re-sign you. Same exact story as Killorn and Palat. Even if JBB had found a way to move all of Sheary's cap hit, AND Stamkos takes say 3.5-4 for 8 years, Moser still needs to be re-signed (3-4m), and you still need to sign another forward. I hate to say this, but he is the reason he's not in Tampa anymore, not Brisebois.
Good luck with Reimer, Buffalo. He plays hard but is guaranteed at least one or two really bad goals a game. I cringed every time he was between the pipes on a breakaway. He needs lots of help from his D, which he didn't typically get in Detroit.

@wolfxp2 one thing a lot of bellyachers overlooked, is that guentzel had 37 goals with a plus-minus of +8, stamkos 40 goals and a minus 21. jake is also 5 years younger. even with his skill level at his current age of 34, having scored 40 goals, steven is NOT going to be worth $8m in a few years when he declines. factor in his powerplay points from last season and his goal scoring has dropped significantly 5 on 5 the last 3 seasons. 19 of his 40G came from the pp this past season, where he benefits a lot from kucherov and hedman.
forwards that can play a 2-way game help teams win. these are the major reasons why steven's gone.
as a tampa fan i'm happy for steven getting one last big paycheck. i'm also glad the team dodged a bullet if that was the price ($8m /AAV) that was required to keep steven under contract.😁
