- This is my 2003 evo 8. Im just doing a 2nd 3rd gear pull. As said, I had the camera attached to my left hand thats why I'm shifting so slow. Built by Trevtec. I'm actually redlining at 9,200rpm. It's about 40mph in 2nd gear 5,000rpm. And 105 in 3rd at 9,200rpm.

Unfortunately I had to sell the car a couple years ago. It had a fully built motor including valve springs, retainers, 280 cams and e 85 and a whole bunch of other stuff. The car is running low 9's in the quarter last I heard. I ran open down pipe because I liked the way it sounded. It was a fun ten years

The service soon light actually acts as a shiftlight when it goes off. Using the EML causes the car to go into limp mode and turning it off can lead to unexpected explosions.

Yah, it gets scary holding the steering wheel with one hand at high speeds. I dont have a mount or anything. Car went 9.8 in the quarter a month ago.

9000 rpm is pretty cool
we had an evo 6 rs here in Jamaica stock internals just intake exhaust and tunning the car had no limiter it too ran up to 9000 rpm every day. wasn't any thing weird to see the needle go around to 9000 it had evo 7 hollow cams that was it made like 360whp on 90 octane @ 22psi.

Lol check engine light actually turns off at redline. That must meant to fix it you should put a cinderblock on the pedal and leave it in neutral for a half hour and it will be all better when you get back.:D

Any aftermarket piggyback ECU or stand-alone EMS will cause the OEM ECU to fault the CEL.

+Werner van der Merwe it doesnt actually go down, it assumes your going to be driving like that for a long period and hence drops down to compensate. 30 seconds after stopping it will go back to where it originally was. I rev'd mine when it was half filled, managed to get it down to a quarter within 2 minutes
It’s all just a estimate if you have a scan tool and look at the input readings from your tank while you drive your needle would be bouncing around constantly and I’m talking like over 30 percent so they obviously can’t let it be a exact duplicate of what the reading from the sensor is

nice man your car sounds good, ive got an 03 also, do you really only have less then 40k miles on the car. I thought my 03 with 84k was low, damn haha....but sick car what size turbo you runnin maybe ? a 6765? or equivalent cuz of boost lag, but that narrow powerband pulls real hard man. haha

Yeah, I use my daily driver for work and other arons. I just drive this when Im bored or special occasions.
What's clucth did you have on it?
Unless you do something like...build the motor. I destroked a 2.4 to a 2.1 for the purpose of having power up top. Dual springs and retainers, 280 cams, pistons, rods. I'd explain more but you have a lot to learn.

@92bda9 I'm running 280's bushur. They are supposed to be some of the meanest out there. Most guys get hks 272 and think thats aggresive. The dual springs and retainers along with my 2.1 motor help for the high revving. Thanks a lot btw. I love high revving hondas too. When I was building my motor I said to my mechanic...I want to rev high. lol. I hate being like every other evo. Same rev limit, black rims. And for a time all evos did a 2.3 stroker with a gt35 turbo. Everyone is so unoriginal.

lol at all the people yelling about it not having the ACD option lights on the dash. You can clearly see at 38s left of the mirror angle adjuster is the ACD button right where it should be.... its an Evo.

Thanks, it was fun. I know there are way fasters evos and videos now. 13 years ago it was enough to impress any friend and beat most cars. It’s not as fun now cause all someone has to do is buy a gtr and send it to AMS. With all the technology, it will launch perfectly and don’t have to shift. Or get an fast Tesla, instant power all the time and automatic. The penalty for street racing will destroy people today. They treat it like you murdered or raped someone.

Im not trying to get up there with them. The probabilty of us getting anywhere even close to there is nil. I did enough, that if I die tomorrow its ok. Because I did enough in my life. I raced a shit load of times and won. I got in a gun fight and came out alive, and I married a Beautiful filipina girl. Anything after this very minute is just a bonus.

That’s why I build the motor to handle higher rpms. Especially with a small engine, when you put a big turbo on it, that’s where the power’s at. It was also fun revving past 9k in the early 2000’s. Now days it’s not so special.

George Duran nah its fine. when engines are built they are put through a lot of stress to see how much they can handle and they stress them far past their normal limits. im guessing you removed the rev limiter like in the video and pushed it past the redline. if you did it that one time then its fine

@@miralemnermina142 thats not entirely true, porsche boxers are totally balanced, but subies have an awkward firing order which unbalances the engine, plus the block is literally 2 pieces bolted together, not nearly as strong as the 4g63
The John I didn't say they are as strong as 4G63, 4G63 can take a lot of power but there is something special about boxter and it's sound and way of delivering power. Also much lower centre of gravity

@dastallion420951 i get full boost earlier just i didnt brake boost or anything. I made another video in 4th to show but it kinda sucks and you know how youtube people are. similar to a 37r. Perfect for the street for me. Not too much lag and enough power to beat almost anything. Yah those are the real miles. I have an is350 for a daily driver so that gets all the miles.
Sorry but I've seen the Evos that shift in "Tramac, Gravel, or Snow" ya know the traction settings that are on the bottom of the RPM tachometer? That's some high revving shit 😅

Upgrade valve spring retainers, built motor with a stand alone. I purposely ask my mechanic to built my motor to rev high safely. 280 cams. A stock evo Would just bounce off the limiter at 7,200 if I remember right.
Do some research before you hate...John Shepherd used to bounce his 4G63T off a 10k rpm limiter running 7second quarter mile times.

No Idea but I do know for a fact that my 2003 EVO 8 never came with the options...... I saw that in the next coming months EVO 8 MR had the options when released. I read that the tarmac, gravel, and snow options werent available until the release of the 2005 Evolution VIII which would probably be about the same time as the Evolution MR. Wish my EVO had the option
Jesse Shane Yea i actually found out not so long ago that some of the USDM evo 8s and 9s did not feature AYC for some strange reason. Hence the absence of the options. Instead mitsubishi replaced it with a limited slip diff. Pretty sure only the US models had the standard LSD. The rest of the world had ayc standard in their evos.
