Sounds like you'll need a screw driver to tighten up that license plate holder. I had an '86 and when I went anywhere north of 95, the damn thing would rattle like a mean western diamondback.
I dont recall for sure, but I believe the rattle was tools I had in my car. I would go job to job in my 87 rx7 lol.
Going from Nevada to Illinois to get mine next week, it's a red '91 FC and im very excited to say the least
I need another in my life! Lol. Prices are sky rocketing.
Did you end up getting it?
@@matt33876 he was prolly kidding
@@marvin4839 What makes you think he was kidding?
@@marvin4839 my man what
Gosh. What a cool redline video lol. And I recorded it. Bought an fd rx7!! Yep, I'm doing more videos soon. 😊
am i the only one who thinks the shift buzzer is kinda cool/badass
as my cousin (a rotary enthusiast) says: if you're not making it buzz, you're driving it wrong
RX8 has even better redline sound.
Nice rev matching near the end 1:34
shay gobert Thanks. I miss this car a lot! Can't wait to get another 13B, but want turbo.
nice thing about NA 13b's is that they never break.
@@matt33876 try to heel and toe
@@ITSMRFOXY clutch was aging. Was babying it.
I love that this is recommended by Mazda
Nice Lil pull
i went 135 from wildwood new jersey to matawan New jersey in my 87 rx7 Even 80+ through Toll booths this was at three in the morning in the 90s ,,, All to catch up to because I had to get to work in Bergen County
COol !!
this makes me want to film my 89 rx7 (8k limiter)
Do it and tag me!
I miss those days...
Same
Did you have a turbo in the car?
No turbo.
Mine won't come even close to red lining. Struggles to get to 6k and is pretty sluggish. Just had one cat replaced and another was replaced about 5 years ago. Any ideas? Yes I know this was 8 years ago lol .
Hmm. Could be a number of things. I would check a few things first.
Make sure the spark plugs are in the right order of Leading and trailing, make sure all 4 spark plugs are firing. It's a rotary, the engine could run on 1 rotor and you wouldn't know except its very under powered.
If those are all fine and you verify spark on all 4, move into fuel. Make sure your fuel filter isn't clogged.
Another thing is, yes a clogged cat will cause issues. Rotory engines tend to eat through these. You could take it to a muffler shop to have them look. But it's usually not a cat.
Any check engine lights?
The last and worst possible issue is, 1 rotor is totally dead with some or no compression. Which would give you low rev and low power.
Is it hard to start?
@@matt33876 dude thanks for the reply. I put 4 new plugs in and checked spark. That's all good. Just replaced the fuel filter today. After I got the new cat it helped a bit. No check engine lights and it isn't hard to start at all. Actually seems to run pretty good other than what I mentioned. Carb tuning maybe?
@@matt33876 it sat for about 5 years
@@chrisylink What year is yours? If it's a 13B, it's fuel injected. Is it hard to start when it's hot?
@@matt33876 it's a 85 12a. Not hard to start
not sure how anyone could deal with that beeping noise! is it possible to get rid of that?
Most the time, people don't rev that high for that long. I was exaggerating it for the video.
Why, it serves the same purpose as a shift light
@@nastyrob8771 My guess is people love to enjoy a good redline without having that beeping noise come on.
I once decided to redline the sht out of my FC and the redline beeping sound came on and scared the Sht out of me. That was the first time ive ever heard of that sound. Sure ive heard about the shift light beep but that sound fades as you go higher in the rpns.
My Speedo cable broke and caused the power steering module to start beeping about 5 minutes into driving and it doesn’t stop lol the redline buzzer is somewhere near that tho
What is that beeping noise when you get in a high rpm???
rotary engines are so smooth that you cant feel any difference when you get up in high rpms. the sound doesnt get violent and the car doesnt jutter, it just makes the exact same noise but it gets louder so its pretty well impossible to hear your redline, you just hear an engine winding up with no intention of slowing down.
so they installed a dummy alarm when your aproaching your redline to help prevent damage to the engine from driving at redline.
the camera picks sounds up different than your ear, and when your just driving its pretty damn easy to find yourself 7-8k rpm thinking your at 4-5k rpm. when your just putting around town, you like to keep it lower in rpms on your gears. so you will shift around 5-7k, and when you shift it will drop to around 3-4k.
redline is around 8-9k
tldr; theres no way to tell what your rpms are by feel like you can with a piston engine. you have to look at the gauges. theres an alarm in case you dont look at the gauges. this is not a shift alarm. this is a you are a moron alarm.
hope that helped.
Curtis Harrington the redline is 7000RPM in this car. The sound you hear is the horn, my friend's RX-7 does the exact same thing.
+mehftv no. That is not the horn. I had an rx7 until about a year ago. What I said is correct in every way. Have your friend redline while your sitting in it. It will make the same noise
Curtis Harrington Yes, it goes off after 7K RPM
Which is what I said. What are you trying to dispute?
talk about how dark the car is
That’s dangerous to rec with you phone in you hand while going at that speed, don’t try that at home
And driving stick shift. Don't forget that part.
why is it so slow, my dads 1986 gxl rx7 can go way faster, its a 13b rotary
whysodepressed is it turbo?
Braddah E he just said gxl so not it's not turbo. That's the slowest fc I've ever seen
jesse morey could be a blown rotor or seal
Na, this was a factory healthy 13B. Since I was revving it out of its power band for the sake of the video, it would be a little slower.
@@matt33876 didnt look slow at all to me and ive had the rx7 turbo 86 version..not sure what that dude is talkinga baout... sounds Great too
